Dive into our guide to learn how to hunt, craft, and upgrade these futuristic weapons and dominate the wilds like never before.

For a game packed with weapon types and crafting trees for each, Artian weapons arguably sit at the top of the pile. That’s partially down to their high base stats, but also because they can roll with randomized perks through earning the right materials, meaning they’re more flexible than the standard weapons that you craft from specific monster parts.

On this page, we’ll cover what Artian weapons offer and how they can be upgraded with Reinforcement as you step into Monster Hunter Wilds’ endgame.

What are Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds are a new, customizable weapon type introduced in the endgame, available after completing the quest “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns.” These weapons feature higher base stats than standard smithy weapons and can roll with randomized skills and elemental attributes depending on the special materials used for crafting. Players obtain these materials-Blades, Discs, Tubes, and Devices-by hunting tougher Tempered Monsters, which are more challenging versions of regular monsters. Artian Weapons offer enhanced versatility and are generally superior in elemental damage, making them a key part of late-game progression and build customization.

While every weapon in Monster Hunter needs to be crafted, Artian ones require different materials – Blades, Discs, Devices, and Tubes – and once crafted, can offer greater customization and higher base stats than most of the more standard weapons you’ll piece together across High Rank.

While some weapons crafted from monster parts will do just as much or more damage, Artian weapons can open up new avenues for buildcrafting.

Artian weapons can also have elemental damage types you can’t get on some weapons in the standard trees, so it’s never a bad idea to craft a repertoire of weapons as you go.

The general consensus among the community within the first few weeks since launch is that elemental damage tends to be better with Artian weapons, but raw damage is less clear-cut, meaning it’ll be important to have plenty of tools for each hunt.

How to get Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To get Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, you first need to defeat your first Tempered Monster, which unlocks the ability to craft these powerful endgame weapons. After this, you can collect Artian Weapon Fragments by hunting Tempered Monsters in High Rank quests or by using the Melding Pot at Suja, available after reaching HR50. These fragments come in different rarities, with Rarity 8 materials being the best for crafting the strongest Artian Weapons. To forge an Artian Weapon, visit Gemma at the Smithy, select the weapon type, and choose the required Artian Materials-Blades, Tubes, Discs, or Devices-matching the rarity level. The materials you select influence the weapon’s elemental attributes and bonuses, such as Attack or Affinity Infusions. Once crafted, Artian Weapons cannot be dismantled back into materials, so choose carefully before forging.

To unlock the ability to craft Artian weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, you’ll need to progress the main story until Chapter 4, for when you are in High Rank.

There, a quest called “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns” will pit you against a Guardian Anjanath, and your first Tempered monster with the insect-like Lala Barina.

Completion of the mission rewards a Damaged Weapon Shard, allowing for crafting of Artian I tier gear, and also allows you to tackle other Tempered monsters.

Once that quest is complete, you’ll get a new option at Gemma’s Forge in camp to “Forge Artian Weapons”.

How to craft Artian weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds

To craft Artian weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, you first need to unlock the ability by progressing to Chapter 4 and completing the quest “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns,” which introduces Tempered monsters and rewards Damaged Weapon Shards. After obtaining Artian materials-Blades, Discs, Tubes, and Devices of the same rarity-by hunting these Tempered monsters, visit Gemma at the Smithy and select the “Forge Artian Weapon” option. Choose your weapon type and select three Artian parts of the same rarity to customize your weapon’s elemental damage and infusion bonuses, such as Attack or Affinity. The crafted weapon’s stats and element depend on the combination of parts chosen, but once forged, the weapon cannot be modified. Higher rarity weapons require rarer materials from tougher Tempered monsters, making Artian weapons a powerful and customizable endgame option.

Once you’ve completed the aforementioned “Wyvern Sparks and Rose Thorns” quest, you’ll be able to craft an Artian weapon of your choosing, but each weapon type requires a different set of materials.

  • Great Sword: Blade x 2, Tube
  • Long Sword: Blade, Tube x 2
  • Sword and Shield: Blade, Tube, Disc
  • Dual Blades: Blade x 2, Disc
  • Hammer: Disc x 2, Tube
  • Hunting Horn: Disc, Device x 2
  • Lance: Blade, Disc x 2
  • Gunlance: Disc x 2, Device
  • Switch Axe: Blade x 2, Device
  • Charge Blade: Blade, Disc, Device
  • Insect Glaive: Blade, Tube, Device
  • Light Bowgun: Tube, Device x 2
  • Heavy Bowgun: Disc, Tube, Device
  • Bow: Tube x 2, Device

The Blades, Discs, and Tubes used all have varying elemental types, and the crafted weapon will have whichever is dominant – so two out of three being Fire type will give you a Fire weapon, for example.

Forging isn’t reversible, but breaking down weapons instead yields Reinforcement materials, which we’ll explain more on in a later section.

How to get Discs, Blades, Tubes, and Devices

To get Discs, Blades, Tubes, and Devices for crafting Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, you need to hunt Tempered Monsters, which drop these special weapon parts as randomized rewards. These parts come in different rarities, with higher rarity parts yielding stronger weapons. You can also obtain these materials through the Melding Pot in Suja, Peaks of Accord by using Melding Points to craft Old Weapon Shards that convert into random parts. Each weapon type requires a specific combination of these parts-for example, Great Swords need two Blades and one Tube, while Charge Blades require a Blade, Disc, and Device. Collecting the right parts is essential for forging and reinforcing powerful Artian Weapons.

All of the items required for Artian weapons can be earned from slaying Tempered Monsters. Remember, these are tougher than HR hunts, so be sure to prepare accordingly.

There’s also a Melding Pot at Suja, Peaks of Accord. In Chapter 5, you’ll be able to unlock the ability to turn your Artian Materials into others you may need. At the lofty heights of HR 100, it opens up the ability to craft the weapon parts needed to build the top tier of Artian weapons.

How to upgrade / Reinforce Artian Weapons

To upgrade or reinforce Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, visit Gemma at the Smithy and select the “Reinforce/Dismantle Artian Weapons” option. Reinforcement requires special materials such as Drearisite, Specklite, Argecite, and Oricalcite, which can be obtained through quest rewards, mining, Festival Shares at the Smelting Foundry, item trading, or dismantling other Artian Weapons. Each Artian Weapon can be reinforced up to five times, with each level granting randomized bonuses like increased attack, affinity, sharpness, or elemental damage. To reinforce, fill the reinforcement bar by using the materials you have, then apply the reinforcement to enhance your weapon’s stats and unlock new perks. If you dislike the bonuses, you can reroll them by adding more materials until you get a preferred combination.

While Artian Weapons already come with strong stats, they can be Reinforced to imprint additional bonuses, not unlike upgrading armor, since you “plug in” the required materials to do so.

These bonuses come in one of five categories, with boosts to Attack, Affinity, Defense, Elements or Sharpness. However, each reinforcement will yield a new upgrade in one of those five areas at random, meaning you’ll want to keep trying to get your perfect roll each time. For example, while you may increase your Defense stat the first time, your next reinforcement could improve your Attack.

The required materials for Reinforcement are Drearisite, Specklite, Argecite, and Oricalcite, which you’ll find from Festival Shares at the Smelting Foundry (or via Nata), or by dismantling your unwanted Artian Weapons.

Weapons aren’t necessarily upgraded with each tier, but as you get better materials from weapon shards, you’ll be able to craft more powerful weapons.

What secret strategies unlock the most powerful Artian Weapons fast

To unlock the most powerful Artian Weapons quickly in Monster Hunter Wilds, the key secret strategy is to craft multiple Artian weapons and fully upgrade them to reveal their predetermined reinforcement bonus patterns, then save and reload your game to selectively craft the weapon with the ideal attribute rolls you want-this method lets you “min-max” your weapon stats by exploiting the game’s fixed upgrade tables. Specifically, you should:

  • Craft about 3 to 5 Artian weapons using inexpensive or “garbage” materials.

  • Fully upgrade each weapon to see their reinforcement bonuses (attack, affinity, sharpness, elemental boosts).

  • Identify which crafted weapon has the best combination of bonuses that suit your build.

  • Quit to the title screen without saving, then reload and craft the desired weapon type with the status or element you want, hoping to replicate the favorable bonus pattern.

  • Repeat this process until you obtain the perfect Artian weapon with up to five ideal upgrade rolls (e.g., multiple attack boosts, affinity, or sharpness).

Additionally, farming high-rarity Tempered monsters through investigations with two Tempered monsters can yield the rarest Artian materials faster, enabling quicker crafting of top-tier Artian Weapons. Reinforcement upgrades are random but capped, so aiming for at least three out of five perfect rolls is recommended, discarding weapons that don’t meet this standard.

This approach, combined with targeted farming of Tempered monsters and strategic material selection, is the fastest way to unlock and optimize the most powerful Artian Weapons in the game.

How do crafted weapon roles determine the best Artian weapon for me

The predetermined reinforcement roles on crafted Artian Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds are crucial in determining which weapon is best for your playstyle because each weapon’s upgrade bonuses-such as attack boosts, affinity increases, elemental boosts, defense, and sharpness-are fixed in a specific sequence when you craft them. By crafting multiple Artian weapons and fully upgrading them, you can reveal these preset reinforcement patterns and identify which weapon offers the optimal combination of bonuses that align with your build preferences.

For example, if your build relies heavily on critical hits, you might prioritize weapons with multiple affinity boosts, while a build focused on raw damage would favor several attack boosts. The elemental or status effect of the weapon is determined by the dominant element or status among the three parts used in crafting, so matching materials with the same element or status maximizes the weapon’s base effect and synergizes with reinforcement bonuses.

The best Artian weapon for you is therefore the one whose predetermined reinforcement rolls complement your preferred damage type and playstyle, which you can discover by crafting several weapons, recording their reinforcement bonuses, and then selecting or rerolling until you find the ideal set of roles that maximize your effectiveness in combat.
