How to unlock the Invoker in Remnant 2 The Forgotten Kingdom DLC

Guides

The Invoker archetype in Remnant 2’s The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is one of the game’s best-kept secrets-a powerful spellcaster class hidden behind a bizarre and mysterious ritual. If you’re ready to brave deadly traps and sink into literal quicksand, you might just uncover the elusive Old Flute needed to unlock this new archetype. But be warned: unlocking the Invoker isn’t just about skill-it’s about patience, exploration, and a willingness to let the sands of Yaesha swallow you whole.

In this Remnant 2 guide, I’ll walk you through how to start The Forgotten Kingdom DLC and how to unlock the Invoker archetype.

If you’re looking to get the original classes, here’s how to unlock all archetypes in Remnant 2.

How to start The Awakened King DLC

To start The Awakened King DLC in Remnant 2, you must first ensure you own the DLC and have completed the Losomn biome at least once in the main campaign. Once these requirements are met, head to Ward 13 and interact with the World Stone. Open Adventure Mode from the menu, then select “Reroll Adventure Mode” at the bottom. Scroll to the right and choose “The Awakened King” as your adventure, pick your preferred difficulty, and confirm your selection. This will launch a special “One Shot Adventure” that begins in the Forlorn Coast, allowing you to experience all the new DLC content from the start.

Assuming you already have a character, go to any checkpoint and activate Adventure Mode. Reroll a new Adventure Mode scenario if you already have one active and select The Forgotten Kingdom.

If it’s your first time playing The Forgotten Kingdom, The game will ask you if you want to play the DLC as a “One Shot.” Say yes. This means you’ll be guaranteed to see the new content in Yaesha and not anything you’ve already seen in the base game or the first DLC.

Once you’ve set the second DLC up, open the new Yaesha area and head down into the Glittering Grotto.

How to unlock the Ritualist archetype in Remnant 2

To unlock the Ritualist archetype in Remnant 2’s The Awakened King DLC, begin your journey in the Forlorn Coast area of Losomn. Progress through the main path until you reach the dockyard filled with boats, then navigate across the boats and look for a hidden cave at water level. Inside the cave, defeat the enemies and collect the Ragged Poppet item. Once you have the Ragged Poppet, return to Ward 13 and speak with Wallace, who will exchange it (along with five Lumenite Crystals) for the Cursed Effigy. Equipping the Cursed Effigy unlocks the Ritualist archetype for your character.

You’ll need to play through a solid chunk of The Forgotten Kingdom DLC before you’re able to unlock the Invoker.

You’ll start your adventure in Yaesha in the Ancient Canopy area, which is where you’ll eventually find the Old Flute. However, you’ll need to make some significant changes to the environment first.

Progress through the main quest until you eventually leave the Ancient Canopy’s main area and re enter it by way of the Deserted Atelier. Activate the Abandoned Citadel crystal checkpoint and walk forward. Pull the lever to lower the giant statue and citadel into the ground.

This new citadel will allow you into The Bloodless Throne, but ignore that for now. Instead, climb down to the now-sunken tower via the nearby elevator. Then climb down the sunken tower’s stairs and many ladders until you reach the bottom. Look for a door in the back of this basement area and follow the path.

You’ll eventually encounter a big room filled with sand and a bunch of dart traps shooting every few seconds. Ignore the darts for now and look across the sands and to the right. In the back-right corner of the room, you’ll see two piles of sand beginning to form next to each other.

Make your way over to those two piles by walking through the sand. (The darts are very dangerous here, so be cautious).

Once you’ve reached the sand piles, you’ve gotten to the fun part of the quest! Stand in-between the two sand piles, set a five minute timer on your watch or phone, take your hands off your controller or mouse and keyboard, and go make yourself a sandwich. Over the next three-to-five minutes, your character will slowly sink deeper and deeper into the sand. Eventually they’ll “die” and pop out the other side, in a new and mysterious room.

Stand up and walk forward. You’ll find an altar with the Old Flute sitting on it.

Grab the flute and head back to Ward 13. Go talk to Wallace like usual and pay him to transform the Old Flute into the Spirit Flute. Once you have it, the Spirit Flute will give you access to the Invoker archetype.

What secret steps lead to unlocking the Invoker in Remnant 2 DLC

Secret Steps to Unlock the Invoker in Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC

1. Start the Forgotten Kingdom DLC in Adventure Mode

  • Activate Adventure Mode and select The Forgotten Kingdom DLC. If needed, reroll until the Yaesha area begins with the Glittering Grotto.

2. Progress Through the Ancient Canopy

  • Navigate through the Ancient Canopy area. Exit through the door marked with an exclamation point to enter a new map, then look for another exclamation-marked door to return to the Ancient Canopy.

3. Lower the Giant Statue

  • Proceed to the Abandoned Citadel checkpoint. Use the lever near the giant statue to lower the citadel, which creates access to a sunken tower beneath the statue.

4. Descend to the Basement

  • Take the nearby elevator down, then use stairs and ladders to reach the basement area. Enter the door at the back and follow the path to a large sand-filled room with dart traps.

5. Find the Sand Trap and Wait

  • In the sand room, dodge projectiles and head to the back-right corner where two piles of sand are forming. Stand in the pile closest to the wall and remain there for 3-5 minutes, letting your character sink and “die” in the quicksand.

6. Retrieve the Old Flute

  • After sinking, you’ll awaken in a secret room with an altar. Collect the Old Flute from the altar.

7. Craft the Spirit Flute

  • Return to Ward 13 and speak to Wallace. Pay him to transform the Old Flute into the Spirit Flute, which unlocks the Invoker archetype.

Tips:

  • Remove any equipment or perks that prevent death, such as the Black Cat Band or Challenger archetype, to ensure you can be swallowed by the sand.

  • If the sand doesn’t rise high enough, die to the traps and try again.

Unlocking the Invoker is a secretive process that requires patience and attention to environmental clues, making it one of Remnant 2’s most intriguing archetype quests.

What is the significance of the sand and dart trap room in unlocking the Invoker

Significance of the Sand and Dart Trap Room in Unlocking the Invoker

The sand and dart trap room is the critical secret location for unlocking the Invoker archetype in Remnant 2’s The Forgotten Kingdom DLC. Its significance lies in the following:

  • Hidden Mechanic: The room features two distinctive sand piles in a corner, with sand continuously falling from above and dart traps firing intermittently. This setup is not just a hazard but a cleverly disguised puzzle.

  • Unlocking Sequence: To progress, you must stand motionless in the specific spot between or near these two sand piles (often identified by magical particles or a faint circle in the sand). After waiting for several minutes, your character will gradually sink into the sand, simulating a “death” by quicksand.

  • Secret Chamber Access: Sinking in this exact spot transports you to a hidden chamber beneath the room. Here, you find the Old Flute, the unique item required to unlock the Invoker archetype.

  • Puzzle Element: The room’s traps and environmental clues (such as gaps in dart patterns and magical effects above the sand) serve to mislead or challenge players, making the solution a well-guarded secret.

In essence, the sand and dart trap room is both a test of observation and patience, and the gateway to acquiring the Invoker class-making it a memorable and significant moment in the DLC’s progression.
