Hytale: Crafting Glass Guide – Getting Sand Making Glass Bottles and Windows

Guides

Glass isn’t just decoration in Hytale-it’s a key ingredient for crafting windows, bottles, and light-filled builds. Here’s how to smelt the right materials and turn raw sand into clear, sturdy glass for your creations.

How to get glass in Hytale

Glass is crafted by melting sand in a furnace until it becomes a clear, solid sheet that can be shaped into windows or decorative panes.

If you’re a Minecraft player, you might’ve assumed that smelting sand inside a furnace would produce glass. That isn’t the case here in Hytale; smelting sand will only get you an empty potion bottle. If you’re looking to make glass windows, you’ll need to look for windows in thebuilder’s workbench, which we describe in detail in the section below.

That said, it’s still a useful glass item to have, especially if you’ve placed an alchemist’s workbench and are looking into potion-crafting. So, if you’d like to craft glass bottles, use a shovel (or a pickaxe, if you haven’t got a shovel yet) to collect sand from a coastline or riverbed. Beware that narrow rivers aren’t always adjacent to blocks of sand. If you open your map, look for very light, cream-colored blocks next to bodies of water; these are the sandy areas.

What materials are needed to craft windows in Hytale

In Hytale, windows are crafted at a Builder’s Workbench using tree trunks or logs as the primary material. No glass is required; one tree trunk produces two windows.โ€‹

Builder’s Workbench Recipe

Craft the Builder’s Workbench first at a regular Workbench with 6 tree trunks (any type, like oak or birch) and 3 stones. Place it down to access window recipes.โ€‹

Window Crafting

Insert any tree trunk into the Builder’s Workbench input slot and select the window option from the output list. The wood type determines the window style, such as Simple Wooden Window from common logs or unique variants like Tavern Window from cedar.โ€‹

Which workbench is required to craft windows in Hytale

In Hytale, the Builder’s Workbench is required to craft windows. This specialized station unlocks window recipes when any type of tree trunk or log is placed in its input slot.โ€‹

Crafting the Workbench

Access a basic Workbench (crafted with 4 tree trunks and 3 stones via inventory pocket crafting) and select the Builder’s Workbench recipe, which needs 6 tree trunks and 3 stones. Place the Builder’s Workbench to begin crafting windows or other building blocks.โ€‹โ€‹

Usage for Windows

Insert one tree trunk into the Builder’s Workbench to generate two windows, with the wood type influencing the window’s style (e.g., Simple Wooden Window from oak).โ€‹
