Pokemon GO High Voltage Event Guide: Research Collection Bonuses Shiny Morpeko

Guides

Niantic flips the switch on Pokémon Go’s High Voltage event, sparking rare Electric-types and in-game purchase perks that supercharge your catches.

Pokémon Go ‘High Voltage’ event Timed Research and reward

The Pokémon Go High Voltage event features Timed Research tasks that players complete within a limited window for exclusive rewards. Tasks focus on catching Electric-type Pokémon like Voltorb and Electabuzz, spinning PokéStops, and making friends, with progress tracked through multiple steps. Completing all stages grants encounters with rare Pokémon such as Alolan Marowak, plus Stardust, Candy, and event-themed items. Niantic ties these to in-game purchase bonuses, boosting rewards for premium passes. Players gain extra motivation from shiny encounters and avatar items.

For $4.99, you can buy a ticket for the “Happy or Hangry” premium research. This research is only really worth it if you want extra Morpeko encounters, but there’s also a bonus associated with this research pass: Emolga, Dedenne, Togedemaru, and Morpeko found as research reward encounters (either in this research or from other research tasks) have a higher chance to be shiny, according to the in-game shop description for the item. This makes the pass more valuable if you’re shiny hunting and if you’re making sure to seek out specific Field Research Tasks to complete for your electric rodents.
