Hidden deep within Elpis, the Ophiotauroskin treasure maps lead daring adventurers to rare loot and secret chambers that few have survived to tell about. Each location holds unique rewards-and a few surprises that test both skill and luck.
Based on some testing, we noticed that Kumbhiraskin maps do not lead to Elpis (which is the same as they were before patch 6.3) and that Ophiotauroskin maps only lead to Elpis.
These maps should still be completed with a party consisting of at least one DPS, one healer, and one tank, as you’ll have to defeat swarms of enemies to get the rewards.
How to find Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps in Endwalker
Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps drop from level 90 gathering nodes in Elpis, such as mature trees, lush vegetation patches, mineral deposits, rocky outcrops, and fishing holes. Gatherers like Botanists can harvest at Philomythes Notos (X:20.6, Y:24.9), Miners at Rumination’s Ramble (X:12.0, Y:18.4), and Fishers at Lethe (X:33.5, Y:15.0) with snagging. Players receive one map every 18 hours, tracked via Duty Timers under Next Map Allowance.
You can find Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps in level 90 gathering nodes in Elpis. They appear at random, so it might take a few tries to find one from a node. To decipher and dig for the maps, you’ll need to complete the quest “Treasure and Tribulations.” You can dig up one map every 18 hours.
Once you decipher the map, a little square of Elpis will display a red x marking the location of the treasure. You’ll need to dig near the x to find the treasure.
With luck, this will lead you and your party to a portal, putting you in the The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon, where a roulette wheel spins to test your fate. You’ll need to take down monsters to get loot without getting thrown out of the dungeon via an unlucky spin. However, sometimes you dig up a chest and just get some meager rewards rather than a turn in Gymnasion Agonon. Dang it.
Elpis treasure map locations
Elpis offers several potential locations for Ophiotauroskin treasure maps, each featuring distinctive terrain and enemy groups guarding the chests. Most dig spots appear near recognizable landmarks such as cliffs, water sources, and ancient ruins scattered across the region. Players often find treasure sites around areas like Proto-Ozma’s location or the cliffs east of The Twelve Wonders. Bringing a party is recommended, as treasure mobs scale in difficulty and can summon reinforcements during combat.
How to solo Ophiotauroskin treasure maps
Soloing Ophiotauroskin treasure maps in FFXIV: Endwalker is feasible but demanding, primarily on Warrior (WAR) due to its high self-sustain via Nascent Flash and Bloodwhetting. These level 90 maps from Elpis nodes spawn treasure chests with mob waves under a 5-minute timer per chest, followed by a potential portal to The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon (level-synced to 90, ilvl 635).
Recommended Job and Gear
Warrior at level 100 with item level 700+ gear (crafted or basic melds) excels, as shown in player videos clearing maps in just over 2 minutes per chest without dodging most AoEs. Blue Mage (BLU) works for level 80 maps but caps at 80, making it unsuitable here; stick to WAR over other jobs like Paladin for better solo viability.
Step-by-Step Process
-
Decipher and Dig: Use the map to find the red X in Elpis (e.g., Shifting Gymnasion areas; refer to prior Polygon guide locations). Dig solo-no party needed initially.
-
Clear Mobs: Each of up to 5 chests spawns enemy packs; prioritize main targets, ignore bonus mobs if needed, and use pots/CDs for tough patterns. Tanks ~40 minutes total per map if portaled.
-
Portal Handling: Spin the wheel for monster tiers (green easiest, red/exclamation hardest); repeat 5 times. Avoid grey minion RNG-focus sustain to prevent wipes or ejections.
Tips for Success
-
Buy cheap maps off the market board when prices dip, farm during off-peak hours.
-
Practice on easier Shadowbringers maps first; full clears grant gil, materia, tomestones, and rare drops like Resplendent Feathers (1M+ gil value).
-
If struggling, use Party Finder labeled “G15 x1 solo” or sell maps-pure solo risks failure on high-RNG wheels.
Best Warrior rotation and gear for soloing Ophiotauroskin maps
Warrior is the top job for soloing Ophiotauroskin treasure maps due to its unmatched self-healing from Nascent Flash and Bloodwhetting, allowing clears even on tough enemy waves and wheel spins. Players succeed with item level 700+ gear and level 100, syncing down to 90/ilvl 635 inside portals.
Gear Recommendations
Aim for high critical hit and direct hit substats on i710+ crafted or tomestone gear, prioritizing sustain over pure DPS.
| Slot | BiS Option | Key Substats |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | EW Relic (i700) | Crit/DH |
| Armor | Crafted i720 set | Crit > DH > SS |
| Accessories | Tomestone/crafted i720 | Crit/DH priority |
| Food | Hardshell Crab | Crit + Perception |
Use minimal melds focused on Crit (up to 2-3% per slot) and DH; full BiS isn’t needed-i700 with basic overmelding works per video proofs.
Core Rotation
Warrior’s solo rotation emphasizes Beast Gauge dump priority, AoE for packs, and weaving CDs for burst/heals. Maintain 50+ Fury via Bloodwhetting stacks.
-
Single Target Opener: Bloodwhetting (2 stacks) > Heavy Swing > Maim > Storm’s Eye > Storm’s Path > Fell Cleave x3 (dump) > Upheaval on cooldown.
-
AoE Priority: Upheaval > Fell Cleave x3 > Decimate/Inner Release for gauge overflow.
-
Sustain Weave: Nascent Flash (heal self) into Raw Nerve/Primal Rend; Equilibrium + Thrill of Battle pre-burst.
-
Cooldowns: Use Infuriate for extra gauge during wheels; ignore most AoEs by tanking through with Rampart/Reprisal.
Encounter Tips
Prioritize bosses over adds, pop pots for red-tier wheels, and resummon Chocobo if it dies-clears take 2-5 minutes per chest. Practice on Kumbhiraskin first; if wiped, abandon and retry map.
