Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Amiibo Companion Rewards and Functions Guide

Guides

Unlock every secret and chase down the rewards hiding behind each amiibo as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond rewrites the limits of your pursuit.

Metroid Prime 4 amiibo rewards and unlock list

Scanning an amiibo in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond grants players exclusive bonuses, such as suit variations, energy tank refills, and collectible gallery items featuring Samus and her allies. Each amiibo offers distinct rewards, ranging from cosmetic upgrades to gameplay aids that can help during tougher missions. Compatible figures from the Metroid series and select Super Smash Bros. amiibo provide these extras, adding a fun incentive for collectors and fans to connect their figures with the game.

Each of the three Metroid Prime 4 amiibo has a unique set of unlocks. However, you can also scan any Metroid-series amiibo to get a little reward as well. Those are:

  • Dark Samus
  • Samus Aran (Metroid Dread)
  • Samus Aran (Varia Suit, standing pose)
  • Samus Aran (Varia Suit, combat pose)
  • Zero Suit Samus
  • Metroid
  • Ridley
  • E.M.M.I.

These eight amiibo all produce the same result, so you’re not missing out if you only have Samus Aran and not Samus Aran or Samus Aran. ๐Ÿ™‚

Samus on the Vi-O-La amiibo

Scan this to see how far you’ve traveled on the Vi-O-La. Once you reach certain distance milestones, you’ll unlock new Vi-O-La skins that you can swap out from the menu. The skins are:

  • Varia theme
  • Sylux theme
  • Metroid Prime theme (basically the Varia theme, but using a slightly lighter shade of orange)
  • Space Pirate theme
  • Ancient Era theme
  • Psychic Era theme
  • Vi-O-La suit theme

Once per day when you scan this amiibo, you’ll also get a temporary increase for how quickly the Vi-O-La’s boost meter recharges.

Sylux amiibo

Scanning the Sylux amiibo gets you:

  • A special flashback scene you can view in the gallery. If you reach 100% completion with the logbook scan entries, you’ll unlock this scene at the end of the game without having to scan the amiibo. Or, y’know, you can just look it up on YouTube.
  • You’ll also see a random line from Sylux show up in the menu.

Samus amiibo (Metroid Prime 4 version)

If you have the Metroid Prime 4 Samus amiibo, you can scan it to unlock two features:

  • Change the background music that plays while riding the Vi-O-La in the open-world desert (not in other named locations)
  • Once per day, get a shield that restores Samus’ energy and blocks 99 incoming damage

Any other Metroid-series amiibo

How to scan amiibo in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond

To scan amiibo in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, pause the game at any time during play. Press the minus (-) button to open the menu, then use L or R to tab over to the amiibo section.โ€‹โ€‹

Scanning Process
Select “Scan amiibo” and hold the compatible figure (like the new Samus, Samus & Vi-O-La, Sylux, or other Metroid series amiibo) to the NFC reader on your controller-right Joy-Con stick for Joy-Cons, or the center logo on a Pro Controller. Rewards activate immediately, such as daily buffs or unlocks, and work across save files on the same profile.โ€‹โ€‹

Usage Notes
Scans for Prime 4-specific amiibo are often limited to once per day for buffs like shields or boosts, while other Metroid amiibo trigger repeatable random sound effects. Unopened amiibo boxes may also work for initial scans in some cases.โ€‹โ€‹

What does Samus amiibo unlock in Metroid Prime 4
