Togetic takes the spotlight this Community Day, bringing boosted spawns, shiny chances, and new bonuses that can turn an afternoon walk into a rare-catching spree. Here’s how to make the most of Niantic’s latest event and evolve your Togetic into a powerhouse Togekiss.
How do I catch a shiny Togetic?
Shiny Togetic appears during this Community Day with a sparkle animation and different coloring. Tap it quickly before it flees, then throw a Pinap Berry and a Great or Ultra Ball for higher catch rates. Activate a second throw with a curveball for extra XP and better odds. Use Golden Razz Berries if the catch circle turns red. Leading up to evolution, catch plenty of shiny Togepi to evolve one into shiny Togetic with 96 Stardust and 96 Candy before the event ends.
According to research conducted by Pokémon community site The Silph Road, Shiny rates on Community Days are about 1 in 24, which means that if you keep playing throughout the three-hour window, you should find quite a few shiny Pokémon.

If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can pop an Incense, then quickly tap each Togetic to check for shiny ones, running from any that aren’t shiny. Notably, any Togetic you’ve already tapped will face where your player is standing, so that should help identify which ones you may have already checked.
What Community Day move does Togetic’s evolution learn?
Togetic’s evolution, Togekiss, gains the Fighting-type charged attack Aura Sphere if you evolve it during the Community Day event window or within a few hours afterward, marking it as the event’s exclusive move.
If you evolve Togetic into Togekiss between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. in your local time, it will learn fighting-type charged move Aura Sphere.
If you miss out on evolving it during this period, you will likely be able to evolve it during a Community Day weekend event in December to get Aura Sphere. If you don’t want to wait, you can use an Elite TM to get the move.

How does Togekiss do in the meta?
Togekiss stands as a strong PvP contender thanks to its Fairy and Flying typing, which gives it useful resistances and reliable matchups against common Dragon, Fighting, and Dark Pokémon. Its access to Charm allows it to pressure opponents quickly, while charge moves like Aura Sphere and Ancient Power provide solid coverage. In Master League, it works well as a closer that can punish unshielded opponents, though it struggles against Steel and Electric types. With the right IVs and team support, Togekiss can still perform impressively in both Great and Master League battles.
Good fairy-type Pokémon are far and few between, but Togekiss holds its weight in PvE content (gyms and raids). It’s bulky with a solid moveset, so we recommend having one or two on deck. Set it up with Charm and Dazzling Gleam and you’re set.
What about Community Day move Aura Sphere? In PvP, its fighting-typing won’t move the needle much on where Togekiss will sit in the meta, though early analysis by JRE47 on The Silph Road subreddit suggests it could replace Flamethrower as an ideal second move, especially as it’ll set Togekiss up better against steel- and rock-types, which can be dominant in certain leagues and cups.
When it comes to raids, having Aura Sphere is “not too big of a deal,” according to analysis by Teban54 on The Silph Road, because – in short – while there are some circumstances where Aura Sphere will outperform Dazzling Gleam, those examples (against Darkrai, Kyurem, and Terrakion) are few and far between.
How do I make the most of Togetic Community Day?
Take advantage of the increased Togetic spawns by using Incense and Lure Modules throughout the event. Focus on catching as many Togetic as possible to gather high IV candidates and enough Candy to evolve Togekiss. Use Pinap Berries to double your Candy gain, and don’t forget to Mega Evolve a Fairy- or Flying-type Pokémon for extra bonuses. After the event, trade with friends to reroll IVs and hunt for lucky Togetic, then evolve your best ones to get the exclusive move before the evolution time window closes.
The following bonuses will be active during Togetic Community Day:
- 1⁄4 hatch distance for eggs placed into Incubators during the event
- Doubled candy for catching Pokémon
- Doubled chance for level 31 trainers to get XL candy from catching Pokémon
- Incense lasts three hours
- Lure Modules lasts three hours
- Togetic special photobombs when taking snapshots
- One additional special trade
- Stardust cost halved for trading
That said, you should definitely put your eggs into Incubators and pop an Incense and try to nab some powerful Togetic.
If you can Mega Evolve Pidgeot, Aerodactyl, Gardevoir, Altaria, or Salamence, you’ll score additional Togepi Candy per catch thanks to the overlap of flying- and fairy-types.

In addition to all of this, Niantic is still running special four-star raids from 5-10 p.m. in your local time, where if you clear the Togetic raid, Togetic will spawn in a 300-meter radius around the gym for 30 minutes. These raids cannot be done remotely. If the usual 2-5 p.m. spawn increase doesn’t get you the Togetic you wanted, you can try raiding for another chance.
Best moveset for Togekiss after Community Day evolution
The best moveset depends on whether you care more about PvP or raids/gyms, but you should keep Aura Sphere if you evolved during Community Day.
PvP (GBL, Master/Ultra)
-
Fast move: Charm
-
Charged moves:
-
Aura Sphere
-
Ancient Power or Flamethrower
-
Charm gives huge Fairy-type pressure, while Aura Sphere provides strong coverage versus Steel, Rock, and Normal that usually trouble Togekiss. Ancient Power is cheap and useful for baiting shields, while Flamethrower threatens many Steels that still resist Fighting.
Raids and gyms
-
General Fairy attacker:
-
Fast: Charm
-
Charged: Dazzling Gleam + Aura Sphere
-
Charm + Dazzling Gleam maximizes Fairy-type damage, and adding Aura Sphere bumps overall DPS and coverage, especially against bosses weak to Fighting. For pure Fairy coverage (e.g., Dragon-only counters), you can still run Charm + Dazzling Gleam alone, but keeping Aura Sphere makes your Togekiss more flexible.
Is Aura Sphere worth using an Elite TM for on Togekiss
Usually, no – Aura Sphere on Togekiss is nice to have, but it’s rarely worth spending an Elite Charged TM unless you’re targeting very specific use cases.
Overall value of Aura Sphere
-
In raids, Aura Sphere is a small situational upgrade: it helps when a boss is weak to both Fairy and Fighting (examples like Darkrai-type scenarios), but Togekiss is still behind top Fairy and Fighting specialists most of the time. Several raid analyses explicitly conclude it’s “not worth an Elite TM” and call missing Aura Sphere “no big deal.”
-
In PvP (especially Master League), most of Togekiss’s damage still comes from Charm, and Aura Sphere competes with Flamethrower as a coverage move rather than being a clear upgrade. Many PvP breakdowns say it’s more of a sidegrade and specifically advise against using an Elite TM on a pre-built Togekiss; they suggest evolving a new one during Community Day instead.
When it might be worth it
You might consider using an Elite TM if:
-
You have a perfect (hundo), best-buddy, highly-invested Togekiss you plan to use long-term in Master League or as a favorite raid option and you care about squeezing out every bit of niche performance.
-
You lack strong Fairy and Fighting counters and want one flexible generalist, and you don’t have any better Elite TM targets waiting.
If you have limited Elite TMs and other candidates (like key Community Day legendaries or top meta picks without their legacy moves), it is usually smarter to save the TM for those and run Togekiss with standard moves (Charm + Dazzling Gleam/Ancient Power/Flamethrower).
