Trainers worldwide are setting their sights on Hoenn as Pokémon Go Tour returns with region-exclusive challenges, rare spawns, and a Legendary duo that could shift the season’s meta. Here’s what to expect-and how to make the most of every raid, route, and shiny encounter.
During the event, there are rotating habitats that change the spawns, special Pokémon in raids like Deoxys, and other perks to enjoy. We list them out below.
Are there any differences or changes for Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn day 2?
Are there any differences or changes for Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn day 2?
Here’s what changed on Day 2 for Hoenn Tour: the hour-by-hour Habitat rotations continue, but certain encounters and spawns shift based on the rotating schedule and the team-based bonuses. In addition, there are updated Special Research and raid windows for ticketed participants, along with ongoing timing for the Ruby vs Sapphire element that influences wild spawns and higher-priority encounters during specific hours.
According to players in regions where the event is already live, there are no changes or additions to the event for Day 2 of Go Tour Hoenn.
This is different to most weekend-long events where the Sunday will introduce new quests or a surprise or two. Instead, use the opportunity to continue completing existing quests, participating in Primal raids or finding catching an elusive Latios or Latias in the wild.
This also means the habitat schedule – listed later on this page – will be the same, allowing you to complete any outstanding Collection Challenges.
Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event tickets explained
Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event tickets grant players access to exclusive rewards, bonuses, and encounters available only during the event. Ticket holders can complete special research tasks, catch region-exclusive Pokémon, and participate in unique challenges tied to Hoenn’s theme. Tickets are available for purchase through the in-game shop, and buying early ensures access to both the main event features and select pre-tour bonuses.
This year, the event is mostly free. Players can fork out $4.99 for the optional Masterwork Research Tasks that rewards a Shiny Jirachi, but that is the only money-gated part of this event.
The “Chasing Legends” Special Research is free for all players who open the game during the weekend, as well as the Latios or Latias Photo Safari quest.
As well as this, make sure you have chosen Ruby or Sapphire in the “Primal Rumblings” Special Research, as this will tweak certain elements to the event, including participation in the on-going ‘Primal Surge’ contest for who can complete the most Field Research each hour (boosting wild Pokémon and Primal Raids for either team) as well as whether you’ll see wild encounters for Latias and Latios.

Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event bonuses
Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn event bonuses include increased Incense effectiveness, additional Stardust and XP rewards, exclusive Hoenn-region encounters, and special field research tasks granting extra catches and bonuses, plus increased Candy and encounter chances for Hoenn-native Pokémon during two-day event windows.

- An additional guaranteed Candy XL from in-person Primal Raids
- Incense may attract Unown, Brendan’s hat / May’s bow costume Pikachu
- Chance of 5 Latios or Latias Mega Energy when spinning PokéStops
To confirm – there are no changes to egg hatching distances for the duration of the event.
The rest of this page explains the other changes to habitat spawns, incense, raids, eggs and field research.

Best team composition for Hoenn Tour 2026
Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn 2026 emphasizes tackling Primal Raids (Kyogre/Groudon), Mega Evolutions (Sceptile, Blaziken, Swampert), Deoxys encounters, and habitat spawns with collection challenges. A strong team prioritizes raid counters, shiny hunting stamina, and version-exclusive bonuses from Ruby or Sapphire paths. Balance Water, Fire, Grass starters with bulky tanks and coverage attackers for 8-hour habitat rotations.
Recommended Core Team
Focus on high-CP raid bosses like Primal Kyogre (Electric/Grass counters), Primal Groudon (Water/Grass), and Deoxys forms (Bug/Dark/Fairy).
| Pokémon | Role | Moveset Suggestion | Why It Excels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mega Swampert | Water/Ground Mega | Hydro Cannon, Earthquake | Tanks Primal Groudon raids; habitat Water spawns. |
| Mega Sceptile | Grass Mega | Frenzy Plant, Aerial Ace | Shreds Kyogre; Verdant Earth habitat. |
| Mega Blaziken | Fire/Fighting Mega | Blast Burn, Power-Up Punch | Fire coverage for Steel/Rock; Ruby path bonus. |
| Kartana | Grass/Steel | Razor Leaf, Night Slash | Top Grass DPS for raids; shiny possible. |
| Origin Giratina | Ghost/Dragon | Shadow Claw, Ominous Wind | Handles Deoxys Psychic forms; versatile. |
| Dialga (Shadow) | Steel/Dragon | Dragon Breath, Iron Head | Steel resist for Normal/Fairy; raid beast. |
Prep Strategy
Power up to level 40+ with optimal IVs (raid-focused from prior events). Activate Incense during Blistering Sands/Eerie Mists for shiny odds; pair with Party Power for XP. Remote raid passes are essential for Deoxys-aim for 20+ daily. Swap for version exclusives like Seedot (Ruby) or Lotad (Sapphire) if collecting.
Swampert team movesets and IV priorities for Hoenn Tour
Swampert shines in Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn as a Mega Water/Ground tank for Primal Groudon raids, habitat Water spawns, and Mega Energy tasks from starters. Prioritize its raid utility with Hydro Cannon for top DPS against Fire/Rock bosses, backed by Earthquake for STAB coverage.
Optimal Movesets
Mega Swampert (raid-focused) leads with legacy moves from events like Hoenn Tour.
| Role | Fast Move | Charged Moves | DPS/TDO Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raid Attacker | Water Gun | Hydro Cannon, Earthquake | 13.29 DPS, 282.5 TDO; best vs. Groudon. |
| Generalist | Mud Shot | Hydro Cannon, Surf | Energy-efficient for PvE stamina. |
| Mega Lead | Water Gun | Hydro Cannon, Superpower | Adds Fighting for Steel coverage. |
IV Priorities
Aim for level 40+ raid catches from Mudkip tasks or legacy trades-perfect 15/15/15 is ideal but rare.
-
Attack: High priority (13-15 IV) for raid DPS on Primal bosses; sacrifice if needed for bulk.
-
Defense/Stamina: Max both (14-15 IV) for survivability in 8-hour rotations and remote raids.
-
PvP Variant: 0 Attack IV for Great League (1495 CP cap), but skip for Tour’s raid focus.
Power up with Sinnoh Stones for optimal IVs post-event; pair with Incense during Ancient Shores habitat.
