Where to get Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds

Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds can be obtained by mining Mining Outcrops located exclusively in the Oilwell Basin, the game’s third area. These outcrops are identifiable by their large, geode-like structures with sharp blue crystals inside. Players can interact with these outcrops multiple times to gather resources, with each interaction offering a chance to obtain Firestone, though it is a relatively rare drop. Key locations with Mining Outcrops yielding Firestone include Areas 7, 8, 13, and 4 within the Oilwell Basin. Mining Outcrops respawn approximately every 15 minutes, allowing players to cycle through them for efficient farming. Utilizing the map’s filter to highlight Mining Outcrops and using auto-travel features can streamline the collection process. Equipping skills like Geologist can further improve mining efficiency. Firestone is essential for crafting and upgrading various weapons and armor, making it a valuable resource to gather early in the Oilwell Basin exploration.

Firestone is an area-specific ore found from mining crops inOilwell Basin, the game’s third area.

Mining crops are dotted around the area, such as on the outskirts of Areas 7 and 8, which is easily within reach of you first arriving.

Any mining crop has the chance to give Firestone, but in our experience, drops are pretty rare – meaning you’ll likely have to mine a handful of crops in order to see one appear. (On the bright side, you’re likely to get a bunch of Dragonite Ore and Machalite Ore in the process.)

To make your search for Firestone easier, there’s a way to auto travel to each mining spot. To do this:

  1. On the map screen, tap left or right on the D-pad, then go to the “Filter Icons” menu in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  2. Highlight mining outcrop, then by selecting left or right on the D-pad, you can cycle through available locations.
  3. By pressing the R3 button to select this as a waypoint, you can then use your Seikret to auto travel to this location by pressing up on the D-pad while riding.
  4. The cherry on top is not only can you mine these outcrops while on the back of a Seikret using your hook slinger, but if you stay mounted, you can open the map and select the next outcrop as your waypoint to then move to that location automatically.

Know that outcrops have a 15-minute cooldown, so either pursue other activities in the meantime, load into a new region and return, restart your game, or simply set your controller down, put the kettle on, and come back when the timer is up.

1. Head to Oilwell Basin

  • Firestone can only be mined from Mining Outcrops in the Oilwell Basin, which is accessible from Chapter 2-1 of the main story.

2. Locate and Mark Mining Outcrops

  • Use your map’s filter function to highlight all Mining Outcrops. This makes it easy to spot and route between them efficiently.

  • Mining Outcrops are marked by a distinct dark blue color on the map.

3. Follow an Efficient Farming Route

  • Recommended route: Start at zone 6, move to zone 4, then quickly ride to zone 11, and finish at zone 16, stopping at zone 13. This covers most Outcrops in a single run.

  • Each Outcrop can be mined three or four times per interaction, increasing your chances of getting Firestone.

4. Use Your Mount and Auto-Travel

  • Set waypoints to Mining Outcrops and use your Seikret mount’s auto-travel feature for faster movement between nodes.

5. Maximize Yield with Geologist Skill

  • Equip three levels of the Geologist skill to increase the number of gathers per Outcrop, maximizing your Firestone haul.
