Looking to boost your Palico’s healing power or complete that elusive side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds? Giant Vigorwasps-massive, glowing versions of the familiar healing insects-are hiding in plain sight across the Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Ruins of Wyveria. But there’s a catch: these rare creatures only appear during the Plenty season, and you’ll need to use your map’s icon filter to track them down before capturing one for your furry companion’s ultimate upgrade.
Our Monster Hunter Wilds guide will tell you where to find giant vigorwasps and how to catch them.
Where to find giant vigorwasps in Monster Hunter Wilds
Giant Vigorwasps in Monster Hunter Wilds are found in three main regions: the Windward Plains, Scarlet Forest, and Ruins of Wyveria. For the Windward Plains, check Areas 10 and 13, especially near the Oasis in Area 13, while in the Scarlet Forest, head to Area 8, and in the Ruins of Wyveria, look in Areas 2, 5, and 13. These rare, oversized healing insects only spawn during the “Plenty” season-if you don’t see them, rest at your camp to change the time and season until “Plenty” is active. Use your map’s filter icons to quickly locate Giant Vigorwasps, then set a waypoint and equip your capture net to collect them for side quests or Palico upgrades.
Giant vigorwasps can be found in the Windward Plains, the Scarlet Forest, or the Ruins of Wyveria. They seem to only spawn during a plenty, and do not seem to spawn at all during a fallow.
Happily, they show up as icons on your map. Open the map and hit right on the D-pad two times to pull up the icon filter. Scroll down to giant vigorwasps, and then use left and right on the D-pad to find one nearby.
Hit X/A to create a waypoint so your Seikret can take you straight there.
How to catch giant vigorwasps in Monster Hunter Wilds
To catch giant vigorwasps in Monster Hunter Wilds, first ensure you are in the right conditions: these rare creatures only spawn during the “Plenty” season, which you can set by resting at a camp and selecting the appropriate environment. Giant vigorwasps can be found in the Windward Plains (notably areas 10 and 13), the Scarlet Forest (area 8), and the Ruins of Wyveria (areas 2, 5, and 13). Use your map’s filter icons to highlight giant vigorwasp locations-look for their unique icon and set a waypoint or highlight them for easier tracking. Once you locate one, equip your capture net from your item bar or radial menu, approach the vigorwasp, and fire the net when the reticle turns yellow-orange to catch it. Be careful not to use your Slinger near them, as this will cause them to explode and you’ll miss the capture opportunity. After catching a giant vigorwasp, return to your Palico at camp to complete the quest and receive your rewards.
Once you’ve spotted a giant vigorwasp, all that’s left is to capture them. Equip your capture net either from the item bar or from your Essential Items radial menu.
With the new rectangle reticle, approach the giant vigorwasp (they don’t acknowledge your presence, so don’t worry about stealth here) until the reticle turns yellow-orange and fire it. Just make sure you hit L2/LT and not the usual Square/X.
This captures the giant vigorwasp instead of popping it like you usually do, so you won’t get the healing benefits you normally would. You do, however, have a chance of collecting honey for crafting potions or eastern honey which is a cooking ingredient.
