How to unlock double jump in The Outer Worlds 2
To unlock the double jump ability in The Outer Worlds 2, you need to acquire specific P.A.L.E. boosters that enhance your mobility. These boosters can be found during your exploration or purchased from certain vendors. Once equipped, the double jump mechanic allows your character to perform a second jump while in mid-air, greatly improving navigation and combat maneuverability throughout the game world. Make sure to prioritize these upgrades early to maximize your movement options.
To double jump in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll need the P.A.L.E. (Plasmatic Augmented Leap Enhancer) boosters. To get the boosters, you’ll need to complete the“A Final Death for Gravity“ side mission in the Paradise Island region. The P.A.L.E. boosters are placed under your boots, and they don’t occupy any regular equipment slots.

Once you obtain the jet boosters, you can perform a second jump midair by pressing the jump command again. Besides helping you reach higher and farther places, the double jump can even save your life by easing a nearly fatal drop. However, there is a limit, so don’t jump off high cliffs and expect to live!
’A Final Death for Gravity’ quest walkthrough in The Outer Worlds 2
In the quest “A Final Death for Gravity” in The Outer Worlds 2, players must navigate a series of challenges using their newly acquired double jump ability. This mission tasks you with reaching high platforms and overcoming environmental hazards that were previously inaccessible. Mastering the double jump here is essential to progress, as it allows you to explore hidden areas and defeat enemies with enhanced mobility. Be sure to use your P.A.L.E. boosters efficiently to maximize your aerial maneuvers throughout the quest.
To start the “A Final Death for Gravity” side quest, you must find Acquisitional Integrator Othaham and Experimental Integration Intern Ferch in the Sovereign’s Sweet Spire Grove area, west of the Landing Pad. These two characters are stuck atop of a mechanical arm that raised their station, and they can’t get down.

When you get to the location, wait for a bit until Jackson, a third character, falls from the platform where the other two are stuck. Interact with the body, so a dialogue with Othaham prompts. In our experience, we accepted the quest when we chose the “Alright, I’m on it.” dialogue option.
Your first step to completing this quest is to interact again with Jackson’s corpse and get the P.A.L.E. boosters. They will be automatically equipped so you can start double jumping right away. Next, your goal is to find the Drive Overloader, which is waiting for you on a table that you can only access after jumping across a series of platforms.

To reach the overloader, go around the house with Auntie’s giant logo from the left side to find a platform with yellow cloth that takes you to the top of the building. From there, jump to the platform surrounded by red plants to the west.

Turn left and double jump to reach the next platform. Follow the path to your right and leap towards the next platform. Once you land, follow the path to the right and head upwards. Eventually, you will find another ramp that you must use to reach the next sequence of platforms.

In the initial part of this area, you will find the Driver Overloader on a table to your right. Grab it and then jump on the platform with a yellow cloth. From this level, you need to head forward and go to the small platform where there are two wooden boxes. Next, jump to the broken path that will take you to the last platform.

From there, you can jump to where Othaham is, enter the room beside him, and place the Driver Overloader in the central panel. The platform that you’re on will lower, and then you can talk to Othaham to complete the quest.
Where to start the Perilous Journey to the Grove quest
The Perilous Journey to the Grove quest in The Outer Worlds 2 starts in the town of Fairfield on Paradise Island. To initiate the quest, head to the constabulary (police station area) in Fairfield and find the NPC Huell Chaudry standing outside near the bounty machine. Speak with Huell, who will tell you about a business deal and ask for your help. Agree to assist him, and the quest will be added to your log.
From there, you will be tasked with traveling to Spire Grove, southwest of Fairfield, to meet and locate Jackson Plum. This quest involves obtaining the schematics and the P.A.L.E. Double Jump Boots, which unlock the double jump ability. You can take a shortcut if you have an Engineering skill of 3 by repairing a broken lift, or you can climb to the grove by other means if you don’t meet that requirement. After collecting the boots and schematics from Jackson’s body and completing associated events, you return to Huell in Fairfield to complete the quest.
In short: Start the quest by talking to Huell Chaudry outside the Fairfield constabulary. Then follow the quest markers to Spire Grove to retrieve the boots and schematics, and finally report back to Huell to finish the quest. This unlocks the double jump mechanic using the P.A.L.E. boosters.
