Below we explain how to unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World.

How to unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World

To unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World, you must complete several in-game challenges. These include finishing all Grand Prix cups and Knockout Tour rallies on 150cc difficulty (placement or gold trophies are not required), collecting at least 10 Peach Medallions, completing 10 P Switch missions, and finding 10 Question Mark panels in Free Roam. After meeting these requirements, replay the Special Cup once more, and after the credits, a cutscene will confirm that Mirror Mode has been unlocked. Once unlocked, Mirror Mode can be accessed in Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, and Versus modes. Additionally, Mirror Mode is also available in Free Roam by driving onto Peach’s castle roof and entering the stained glass window, which flips the Free Roam world.

Here are the requirements to unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World:

  1. Clear each Grand Prix cup and Knockout Tour rally on 150cc. You don’t have to get first – or even get a trophy – in said race. You just need to make sure you’ve cleared it on 150cc. A trophy or checkmark will still show on the main cup/rally selection screen even if you’ve only completed it on a lower cc, so make sure to check each cup/rally individually to make sure you’ve done this.
  2. Complete 10 P-Switch challenges in Free Roam. These switches are just about everywhere, so roaming around a bit should net you 10 fairly quickly. After you clear one area out, you can just teleport to another one to find more.
  3. Find 10 “?” panels in Free Roam. Each area has five or 10 of these to find, and they’re usually in the “main hub” of the area, rather than on the side/connecting streets. Make sure to look on walls for them, too.
  4. Collect 10 Peach Medallions in Free Roam. There are also quite a few of these around the map, though they’re not as common as the above two collectables in our experience. Lots of them are tucked behind obstacles requiring you to wall-ride or grind on rails, but there’s also quite a few in open locations.
  5. Clear the Special Cup on 150cc. You may have already cleared this cup by this point, but you will need to do it again to unlock Mirror Mode. Like the other cups, you don’t have to place or win, you just need to clear it.

As a disclaimer, while validating the above method, I had 80 “?” Panels, though I only had 10 P-Switches and 10 Peach Medallions. Reports from other players confirm too that you only need 10 “?” Panels.

Once you complete the above, another cutscene should play after the credits showing Mario and Luigi unlocking Mirror Mode. From there, “Mirror” will appear as an option along the cc choices after you select a cup, like so:

You can also pick “Mirror” from the class option when setting up a VS Mode race.

To activate a mirrored map in Free Roam, you can warp over to Peach Stadium and follow the track up and jump on to the roof of Peach’s Castle. Enter the iconic stained glass window of Peach and it’ll warp, sending you into a mirrored version of the map. You cannot do this in the pseudo-Free Roam multiplayer friend lobby, but selecting mirror mode races will flip the map for everyone.

How does completing all 150cc cups unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World

Completing all 150cc cups is a core requirement for unlocking Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World; you must finish every Grand Prix Cup and Knockout Tour Rally at 150cc (you don’t need to win, just complete them), along with specific Free Roam collectible tasks.

Here’s the full unlock process and how 150cc cups fit in:

  • Complete all Grand Prix Cups in 150cc: Simply finish every race in 150cc difficulty. Lower difficulties do not count, and you do not need first place-just completion marks (often shown as a green check).

  • Complete all Knockout Tour Rallies in 150cc: These, too, must be finished at 150cc-again, not necessarily in first place.

  • Collect 10 each of Peach Medallions, P-Switch Missions, and ? Panels in Free Roam: Your progress can typically be tracked via the in-game map.

  • Replay and finish the Special Cup at 150cc: Once the above prerequisites are met, you need to race through the Special Cup (including Rainbow Road) at 150cc again. Completing this triggers a special cutscene and unlocks Mirror Mode for your game.

Mirror Mode is then selectable from the Engine Class menu, letting you race all tracks in mirror-reversed form. If you complete all 150cc cups but don’t see Mirror Mode unlock, double-check every cup and rally for correct completion, and make sure you have the required collectibles before replaying the Special Cup.

What specific racing achievements in 150cc are required to unlock Mirror Mode

To unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World, the specific 150cc racing achievements required are:

  • Complete all Grand Prix Cups at 150cc: You must finish every Grand Prix cup (all standard cups plus the Special Cup), but you do not need to place first or earn gold trophies; simply completing the races will suffice.

  • Complete all Knockout Tour rallies at 150cc: All knockout rounds must be completed at 150cc. Again, placing highly is not required; even finishing lower ranks counts.

  • After fulfilling the above, replay the Special Cup at 150cc one more time. Completion, not winning, triggers the unlock cutscene for Mirror Mode.

In summary, for the racing part, you need to complete every Grand Prix cup and every Knockout Tour rally at 150cc difficulty. Winning or finishing with a certain rank is not necessary; only completion is required.

Additionally, Mirror Mode unlocking requires collecting items in Free Roam mode (10 Peach Medallions, 10 P-Switch missions, and 10 ? Panels), but these are aside from the 150cc racing achievements you asked about.

If all 150cc cups and tours are completed with a green check mark at 150cc, and the other requirements are met, replaying the Special Cup at 150cc will unlock Mirror Mode.

Thus, the core 150cc racing achievements are simply completing all cups and knockout rallies-no winning or achieving stars required.
