Get ready, Trainers! Pokémon GO’s December 2023 Community Weekend is back on December 16-17, bringing a festive double dose of your favorite Community Day Pokémon from 2022 and 2023. With over 25 Pokémon making a comeback in the wild, raids, and eggs, plus exclusive moves and boosted shiny chances, this is the ultimate year-end event to catch up on missed favorites and power up your collection before the new season kicks off.
The event takes place on Dec. 16 and 17 and most of the perks will be active from 2-5 p.m. in your local time. There are some other perks, like special trades or evolving to get special moves, that take place out of that event period (which we explain below).
If you like collecting shiny Pokémon and you missed out on any of these Community Days earlier, this is your chance. It’s also a great chance to grab powerful Pokémon like Conkeldurr or Blastoise.
The featured Community Day Pokémon from throughout the year will be split among two days. Any Pokémon that were featured in a 2023 Community Day Classic will spawn on both days, but at a rarer rate. Meanwhile, 2022 Community Day Pokemon will also appear in eggs and raids. Below we list out the spawn times, special moves, and other perks of the Pokémon Go 2023 Community Weekend.

What rare Pokémon and shiny surprises await during the December 2023 Community Weekend
During the December 2023 Pokémon GO Community Weekend, rare and fan-favorite Pokémon from past Community Days make a grand return with exciting shiny possibilities. On December 16, you can find Slowpoke, Galarian Slowpoke, Togetic, Chespin, Fennekin, and Noibat more frequently in the wild, all with their original shiny rates. The following day, December 17, features Poliwag, Wooper, Paldean Wooper, Timburr, Axew, Froakie, and Grubbin as the spotlight Pokémon, again with boosted shiny chances. Additionally, some Pokémon like Charmander, Squirtle, Mareep, Swinub, and Larvitar will appear in the wild briefly on both days. Beyond the wild spawns, 2022 Community Day Pokémon will hatch from 2 km eggs and appear in raids, offering even more opportunities to catch rare and shiny variants. This event also includes special research tasks rewarding encounters with these featured Pokémon, making it a prime chance to complete your collection or snag elusive shiny forms.
Which rare Pokémon like Axew and Noibat are most likely to appear shiny during the event
During the December 2023 Community Weekend in Pokémon GO, rare Pokémon like Axew and Noibat are among those with notably low shiny spawn rates, making their shiny forms highly sought after. Axew’s shiny variant is considered ultra-rare due to its very low spawn and hatch rates, making it a prized catch during boosted events like this one. Noibat, which debuted its shiny form during a previous Halloween event, also has a boosted shiny rate during special events and remains a favorite shiny target for collectors. Both Pokémon’s shiny forms are more likely to appear during this Community Weekend, offering trainers a prime opportunity to add these elusive shinies to their collections.
