Can you really breathe new life into your worn-out tools and weapons in LEGO Fortnite, or are you doomed to craft anew every time they break? Discover the surprising truth behind repairing gear in this blocky battle royale, and whether clever workarounds or glitches can save your prized equipment from destruction across mobile, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
Update (Dec 12): As of Dec. 12, the glitch that allowed you to repair weapons and tools appears to have been patched out and no longer works. Original story follows.
Original story: Lego Fortnite does not have a way to repair your tools (like axes, picks, and shovels) or weapons (like shortswords, crossbows, and shields). So, when they deteriorate enough, they’ll just break, and you’ll have to spend the resources to make a new one.
Except, at least for the moment, there’s a glitch that lets you repair (well, “repair”) everything for free.
Our Lego Fortnite guide will explain how to use this bug to repair your tools and weapons.
Can you repair items and weapons in Lego Fortnite?
In LEGO Fortnite, there is no official or built-in way to repair tools and weapons once their durability runs out; they simply break and disappear after use. Players used to exploit a glitch involving placing damaged items in a small storage chest and then breaking the chest to restore the items to full durability, but this method has been patched and no longer works. While you cannot repair items directly, you can craft new tools and weapons using available resources. Additionally, there are some crafting stations like the Essence Table that allow applying durability-enhancing essences to items, which can help extend their lifespan but do not repair them outright. Overall, managing tool durability requires crafting replacements rather than repairs in the current version of the game.
You can’t repair your tools and weapons in Lego Fortnite. There’s not a workbench or way to fix the items you use as they deteriorate. However.
How to repair items in Lego Fortnite with a glitch
In LEGO Fortnite, there was a popular glitch that allowed players to repair their tools and weapons by placing the damaged items inside a small storage chest (crafted with 6 planks) and then breaking the chest with bare hands. When the chest was destroyed, the items inside would be restored to full durability, and players would also recover most of the planks used to craft the chest. This glitch provided a convenient way to avoid crafting new tools frequently. However, this repair glitch has been patched by Epic Games for most items, except it still works for the grappler gun. As an alternative, players can now use the essence table to apply durability enchantments to extend tool life, though no official full repair mechanic exists yet.
You can repair tools and weapons in Lego Fortnite. For now. It relies on a glitch, so it’s only a matter of time before it’s patched out.

First, you’ll need to be able to make a small chest (6 planks) – which means you’ll need to have a lumber mill set up. Build your small chest and place all of your damaged tools and weapons inside.

Next, exit the chest menu and smash the chest with your hands. It only takes three punches to destroy. And that’s it!
Destroying the chest makes it drop the materials you used to create it and all of its contents. When you pick them up, all of the items will be back to full durability. This works on your own items as well as tools and weapons you pick up from skeletons or enemies.
Note that this doesn’t work 100% of the time. We’ve had our chests break and our loot completely vanish on us, but we’re not entirely sure why or what the cause was. We built our chest on top of a cliff in the desert biome, and when we broke it, all the contents simply vanished. That said, the tools we lost were about to break (and thus disappear) anyway, so it’s not like we lost much, but it’s worth noting that you may be left without tools if you solely rely on this trick.
Can you repair tools and weapons in Lego Fortnite without losing enchantments
In LEGO Fortnite, you cannot repair tools and weapons without losing their enchantments. The common method players use involves placing the damaged item in a chest and then breaking the chest to restore the item’s durability to full. However, this process actually creates a new item with full durability, causing the original item-and any enchantments on it-to be lost in the process. Additionally, this repair glitch has been patched for most items, though some exceptions like the grappler still work temporarily. Therefore, if you want to keep your enchantments intact, there is currently no legitimate way to repair tools and weapons without losing them in LEGO Fortnite.
Does the bug allowing full repair in Lego Fortnite also preserve enchantments
The bug that allows full repair of tools and weapons in LEGO Fortnite by placing them in a chest and then breaking the chest does not preserve enchantments. This repair method effectively creates a new item with full durability, causing the original item and its enchantments to be lost. Moreover, this glitch has been patched for most items, except for some like the grappler gun, which still temporarily benefits from the repair glitch. Players now rely on the Essence Table to increase durability through enchantments, as the repair glitch no longer works for preserving enchanted items.
