Be prepared for the desert heat by carrying items like a Cool-Headed Charm or Snowberries to avoid overheating while exploring. Once mined, rough amber can be processed into cut amber using a gem cutter for crafting upgrades and tools.
To get rough amber, you’ll need to find a desert “dry valley“ biome. Unfortunately, we haven’t noticed any way to locate specific biomes. We had to run around a ton in order to find the dry valley mesa. You’ll know when you find it right away though, as its all brown like a desert, filled with rocky crags and cliffs. Don’t be discouraged and keep exploring around until you run into one.
Once you arrive in a dry valley mesa, the rough amber is at the top of those cliffs, which means, that’s right – you need to build stairs. Bring piles of wood with you to build stairs up these cliffs.
Rough amber is only mineable by uncommon pickaxes or better. Your common brown pickaxe will do no damage to it.
Once you farm up on rough amber, you can use it upgrade your Village Square, which is likely the first instance you’ll see of needing amber to begin with.
How to get cut amber in Lego Fortnite Odyssey
To get Cut Amber in LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, start by finding Rough Amber in the Dry Valley biome, a desert-like area where yellow amber deposits appear high on rocky cliffs. Use at least an Uncommon Pickaxe to mine these deposits, as basic pickaxes won’t work. After collecting enough Rough Amber, you need to build a Gem Cutter using materials like marble slabs, sand claws, sand shells, and Rough Amber itself. Once constructed, interact with the Gem Cutter, select the Cut Amber recipe, and insert Rough Amber to process it into Cut Amber. To make cut amber, you’ll just need to feed your rough amber into a gem cutter. To build a gem cutter, you’ll need the following:

- 5 sand claws (eliminate wolves in the desert biomes)
- 3 sand shells (eliminate rollers in the desert biomes)
Once you build and place your gem cutter, you can feed it rough amber to get cut amber at a rate of 1:1, the same way you process other materials. You’ll need cut amber to upgrade your village and make rare axes.
