It’s not quite as good as the best MCW loadout or the best SVA 545 loadout at range, but as an SMG, it’s naturally capable up close too. It’s not the first time the gun has appeared in the series either; it was previously in 2014’s Advanced Warfare. Here are the details on how to unlock the AMR9 in MW3, and the best loadout to use alongside it.

How to unlock the AMR9 in Modern Warfare 3

To unlock the AMR9 in Modern Warfare 3, you need to reach player level 55, which is currently the maximum level in the game. You can gain XP to level up by playing multiplayer matches, securing kills, completing objectives, and finishing in-game challenges. Using XP boosts during gameplay can accelerate the leveling process. Once you hit level 55, the AMR9 will be unlocked and available to customize in your loadout.

You must reach rank 55 to unlock the AMR9 in Modern Warfare 3, at which point you’ll also get the Med Box field upgrade. This is similar to how you unlocked the AMR9 during the second beta weekend, where it was the very last gun you’ll collect.

As soon as you unlock the AMR9, we’d recommend switching to it straight away, simply because one of the best attachments to use with it isn’t available until you max it out – meaning it takes some grinding to get to.

Best AMR9 loadout in Modern Warfare 3

The best AMR9 loadout in Modern Warfare 3 focuses on enhancing recoil control, range, and mobility to maximize its effectiveness in close to mid-range combat. Key attachments include the Shadowstrike Suppressor S for stealth, the DR-6 Handstop to boost handling and movement speed, the Wolfhound Carbine Stock for improved recoil control, the Sakin ZX Grip for better firing stability, and a 50 Round Mag to increase ammo capacity. This setup allows players to maintain accuracy while rushing opponents, making the AMR9 a formidable close-quarters weapon with excellent time-to-kill performance.

Here is the best AMR9 loadout in Modern Warfare 3:

  • Barrel: Nimbus-6 Integrated Suppressor
  • Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
  • Ammunition: 9mm High Grain
  • Stock: Seraph-14 Heavy Carbine Stock
  • Optic: Mk. 3 Reflector

There are two attachments to note here. The first is the Nimbus-6 Integrated Suppressor. This isn’t unlocked until your AMR9 reaches level 28 (the weapon’s max level is 29), but it does an incredible job improving the gun’s range. It has the added bonus of being undetectable by radar, which you can’t complain about – but it does reduce your sprint to fire speed and ADS speed, which means the AMR9 firmly shifts from being an SMG into a mid-range gun.

The other is the 9mm High Grain ammo, which is unlocked at level 29. To use the AMR9 in this manner, competing with assault rifles while also holding its own up close, this attachment is essentially mandatory because it increases both bullet velocity and damage range.

However, it reduces its recoil control, which is where the Underbarrel and Stock attachments listed come in handy to help counteract that. (There’s no point having a gun that tears enemies down at range if you can’t hit your shots!) The MK. 3 Reflector Optic is personal preference, as you could go for something a little more zoomed in if you really want to fight at range.

Best AMR9 class in Modern Warfare 3

The best AMR9 class in Modern Warfare 3 is designed to maximize the weapon’s versatility and speed, making it a formidable choice for aggressive, run-and-gun players. A top recommended setup includes the Infantry Vest for improved mobility, Commando Gloves to enhance aiming and weapon handling, and Tactical Pads to boost movement speed. Tactical equipment like Flash Grenades and lethal options such as Semtex complement the aggressive playstyle, while field equipment choices like the Comm Scrambler or Trophy System provide flexibility depending on the game mode. This class setup ensures the AMR9 excels in close to medium-range combat, balancing speed, control, and survivability for dominant performance on the battlefield.

Here’s the best class to use alongside the AMR9 in Modern Warfare 3:

  • Vest: Infantry Vest
  • Secondary: RGL-80
  • Tactical: Flash Grenade
  • Lethal: Semtex
  • Field Upgrade: ACS
  • Gloves: Assault Gloves
  • Boots: Covert Sneakers
  • Gear: Ghost T/V Camo

You have a lot of flexibility with the class surrounding the AMR9, because even though you’ve kitted it out to be strong at range, you can still play quickly instead of holding down one anchor spot.

Equipping the RGL-80 grenade launcher as your secondary allows you to clear objectives with ease, or take out enemies from wherever they’ve posted up.

The ACS is excellent for helping win objective-based modes, while the Flash Grenades are a personal preference – you could also opt for a Smoke or Stun Grenade. Same goes for the Semtex which could be switched for a Frag Grenade.

There are a few different options for the gloves, but we think the Assault Gloves are the best fit as they help with surprise engagements and jumpshots – Marksman Gloves are also a good shout here though. Covert Sneakers will stop enemies from knowing your location thanks to your footsteps, which is vital if you want to play for the objective and try some unorthodox plays by sneaking behind the enemy team. Finally, the Ghost T/V Camo will stop you from showing up on hostile UAVs.

How can I maximize the AMR9’s close-range power in MW3

To maximize the AMR9’s close-range power in Modern Warfare 3, focus on a loadout that enhances its mobility, damage, recoil control, and sprint-to-fire speed for aggressive run-and-gun playstyles:

  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop to boost ADS speed, sprint-to-fire speed, and movement speed, allowing you to react and shoot faster in close quarters.

  • Barrel: Micro Integral Suppressor to increase bullet velocity and range while keeping you off the radar.

  • Rear Grip: Phantom Grip to improve recoil control and further increase sprint-to-fire and ADS speeds.

  • Ammunition: 9mm High Grain rounds to enhance damage range, recoil, and accuracy.

  • Stock: Tectonic Tactical Ultralight for added sprint and movement speed.

  • Optic: Corvus Mini Riser Optic for clearer sight picture due to the AMR9’s poor iron sights.

This combination optimizes the AMR9’s raw power and speed, making it deadly in close-range engagements by allowing you to quickly aim, move, and control recoil while maintaining stealth on the minimap. Additional options include using a 50 or 100 round magazine depending on your playstyle and game mode, balancing ammo capacity with mobility.

What is the most effective loadout to boost AMR9’s damage in MW3

The most effective loadout to boost the AMR9’s damage in Modern Warfare 3 focuses on enhancing recoil control, range, and ammunition capacity to maximize its lethality in close to mid-range fights. A highly recommended setup includes:

  • Optic: MK.3 Reflector for a clear sight picture with minimal obstruction.

  • Stock: Hellhound Carbine Stock to significantly reduce vertical and horizontal recoil.

  • Rear Grip: Sakin ZX Grip to further improve recoil control.

  • Magazine: 50 Round Mag to increase ammo capacity and sustain fire.

  • Underbarrel: FTAC SP-10 Angled Grip to enhance aiming stability and reduce aiming sway.

This loadout improves the AMR9’s damage potential by allowing more accurate, sustained fire with better control, making it deadly in various combat scenarios. Additionally, using 9mm High Grain rounds can further boost damage range and bullet velocity, complementing this setup for even greater effectiveness.
