Pokemon Legends Z-A Find Magearna Guide- Mega Dimension

Guides

Hidden deep within Lumiose’s secrets, a mysterious side mission holds the key to summoning Magearna – but only for those who can piece together the clues left behind in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to unlock Side Mission 195 in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Complete Side Mission 190, A Mimikyu for My Cutie, by speaking to Vinnie in the Quasartico Inc. lobby after finishing Main Mission 42 and capturing Kalos legendaries, then catch a Mimikyu in Hyperspace Lumiose wild zones and return it to him. Exit and re-enter Quasartico to find CEO Jett with a Poké Ball orb nearby; talk to her to accept Side Mission 195, Restarting Magearna. Gather 999 Mega Shards from purple crystals in Hyperspace Lumiose, deliver them to Jett, and receive Magearna plus its Magearnite Mega Stone.

To unlock Side Mission 195 “Restarting Magearna,” you’ll first have to complete Side Mission 190 “A Mimikyu for my Cutie.” However, for our playthrough, Side Mission 190 only became available after progressing deep into the base game’s post-game content. You don’t have to complete Main Mission 39 and rank up all the way in the Infinite Royale, but you will have had to complete Main Mission 42 – and therefore have caught the legendary Pokémon of Kalos – to get Side Mission 190.

Once that’s done and dusted, Vinnie should have an exclamation point now indicating a side mission is available. Speak to him and he’ll request you capture a Mimikyu for his daughter. Mimikyu aren’t found in Lumiose City, meaning you’ll have to get lucky and find one in a Hyperspace Lumiose wild zone portal. Look out for Mimikyu’s recognizable silhouette when scouring Hyperspace wild zones on your map. It’s a dual ghost- and fairy-type, so look out for zones that list ghost and/or fairy as common types.

Where to find the 999 Mega Shards fastest

The fastest way to reach 999 Mega Shards is to repeatedly clear high-density crystal routes around Prism Tower, Quasartico Inc., and certain rooftops, using a flying or floating Pokémon with strong AoE moves to break clusters quickly.

Best farming areas

  • Prism Tower walls: Run a loop around Prism Tower where Mega Shard crystals line the outer walls; this route can yield 300+ shards in about 3 minutes once optimized.

  • Quasartico Inc. back street: The street and alley behind Quasartico (near Restaurant Le Yeah) often spawn large walls of crystals that are easy to sweep in a straight line.

  • Rooftop clusters and elevators: Use elevators near Pokémon Centers and key buildings (like Magenta Pokémon Center and Hotel Z) to reach rooftops with big clusters, then chain rooftops via elevators for a single long loop.

Route tips to hit 999 quickly

  • Run a fixed loop route (for example: Quasartico Inc. → shard-filled hallway → elevator to rooftop clusters → Prism Tower walls → another rooftop area) so you always know the next dense spawn.

  • Time your loop so that crystal respawn (roughly 10 minutes) lines up with when you finish; this lets you farm about 3,000 shards per hour, easily hitting 999 in a single loop or two.

Team and move recommendations

  • Use a flying or floating Pokémon (or anything that can traverse gaps and rooftops) with wide-hitting moves so you can shatter multiple crystal nodes at once from a distance.

  • Favorite Mega Shards in your bag so the count is always visible, and remember you cap at 999; when you hit the cap, cash them in at Quasartico Inc. before continuing to farm.

Best route to farm 999 Mega Shards in under 10 minutes

A reliable sub-10-minute route is a tight loop that chains the Quasartico alley, rooftop clusters, and the Prism Tower wall crystals so you clear almost only “clump” spawns instead of scattered ones.

Prep before you start

  • Use a flying/floating Pokémon with a big AoE move (e.g., Surf/Sludge Wave-style coverage) so you one-shot large crystal packs from range.

  • Make sure you have Roto-Glide and key fly points unlocked (Quasartico Inc., Prism Tower, Magenta Pokémon Center, nearby hotel rooftops).

10-minute “999 shards” loop

  1. Start at Quasartico Inc. fly point

    • Turn around and go straight into the shard-packed hallway/alley behind Quasartico; sweep both walls.

  2. Rooftop chain from Quasartico area

    • Take the nearest elevator/ladder up to the first rooftop cluster (often near Rasine Construction/nearby hotel).

    • Clear every visible crystal pack, then Roto-Glide to the next rooftop (Magenta Pokémon Center roof, then adjacent roofs), always prioritizing the biggest clusters.

  3. Prism Tower wall sweep

    • Glide or fly down toward Prism Tower and run a full circle around its walls, breaking every crystal on the perimeter; this alone can give ~300+ shards in ~3 minutes.

  4. Return rooftop → Quasartico

    • From Prism Tower, Roto-Glide back to one of your earlier rooftops, clear any missed clusters, then drop back into the Quasartico alley if the crystals have respawned.

If you execute cleanly, this loop routinely hits 300-400 shards per 3-4 minutes; doing it two to three times back-to-back caps you at 999 in under 10 minutes.

Efficiency tips

  • Avoid chasing single stray nodes; only detour for obvious 3-5-node clumps.

  • Run the route at least twice in a row; shard respawn timers (about 7-10 minutes) line up so Quasartico alley and early rooftops refill just as you return, maximizing shards per min
