Starfield resources vendors locations and where to buy materials for crafting

Guides

Looking to supercharge your outposts or craft the galaxy’s finest gear in Starfield? Skip the grind and discover the best vendors and hidden shop locations where you can buy every resource you need-whether you’re playing on PC or Xbox. From New Atlantis to Neon City, here’s how to fill your cargo hold with rare minerals and essential materials in record time.

In this Starfield guide, we’ll show you which three stores (plus a chain) you can visit to buy resources.

General and resource stores

General and resource stores in Starfield are your primary stops for buying a wide range of essential materials needed for crafting, building outposts, and upgrading equipment. Major cities each feature several key vendors: in New Atlantis, Jemison Mercantile and UC Distribution offer a broad selection of resources; Akila City’s Midtown Minerals and Shepherd’s General Store are reliable options; while in Neon, the Mining League and Sieghart’s Outfitters stock valuable materials. Additionally, the Trade Authority chain can be found in nearly every major and minor city, making it a convenient choice for purchasing resources as well as selling off unwanted items. These stores regularly restock, so if you don’t find what you need, waiting 24 in-game hours will refresh their inventories.

The general stores and resource stars all fit into the same bin in Starfield, and they all offer a ton of diverse resources for you to pick up (for a fee) on your journey.

Jemison Mercantile (New Atlantis)

What can’t this shop do? Jemison Mercantile is the shop in Starfield. You can sell almost anything to them and they’ll also sell you a ton of different resources like iron, tungsten, adhesive, and more. You can even get digipicks there.

You can find Jemison Mercantile in the New Atlantis spaceport on Jemison in Alpha Centauri.

Mining League (Neon)

The Mining League on Neon is a shop that’s entirely dedicated to rocks and minerals, which is pretty great. If you’re looking for tungsten or other rare rocks like uranium, head into the store and buy them out. However, it’s worth noting that the Mining League doesn’t sell any liquids or gasses – just rocks. So if you need some Helium-3 to jumpstart your self-sustaining mining outpost, you’ll need to go elsewhere.

The Mining League is right across from the Trade Authority and directly to your left when exiting the elevator from the spaceport on Neon.

UC Exchange (Cydonia)

The UC Exchange in Cydonia on Mars has one of the most diverse offerings of resources in Starfield’s universe. You can find pretty much anything here (we’ve seen it offer more than 50 different kinds of resources before), and it’s always worth stopping by and buying out a rare resource whenever you’re around.

To get to UC Exchange, load into the Cydonia mining colony and head forward, down the ramp. At the bottom, turn left; it’s the third door, just before you reach the walkway that leads further into the station. (If you know where the Trade Authority store is in Cydonia, the UC Exchange is directly across from it.)

Your local Trade Authority

The Trade Authority is your go-to network for buying and selling resources across the Settled Systems in Starfield. With storefronts and kiosks in nearly every major city-including New Atlantis, Akila City, Cydonia, Neon, and even the Den-you’re never far from a place to offload your loot or pick up essential supplies. Trade Authority shops are especially valuable for players looking to sell contraband or high-value items, as they offer more credits and a wider range of goods than the smaller kiosks, which are best for quickly selling regular items near spaceports. Whether you’re a law-abiding trader or dealing in less-than-legal wares, your local Trade Authority ensures you always have a reliable spot to handle your business in Starfield.

The Trade Authority is not a resource shop, and it’s best to know that before you go in to shop. However, the Trade Authority does carry some resources, depending on the location. If you’re rolling into town looking to buy up as many resources as you can before going back to your base, it’s worth stopping by the Trade Authority each and every time.

It’s worth mentioning here that when we say the Trade Authority has some resources, we don’t even necessarily mean that those resources are basic. In fact, we’ve seen the Trade Authority on Neon with caesium, which is a Legendary quality resource. However, the Trade Authority’s supply is always low. Where your local general store might have 30 to 40 units of tungsten as well as 20 other different kinds of resources, the Trade Authority probably only has around five to 10 resource types. And if you do find something you want at the Trade Authority, it probably only has a fraction of what the general or resource store does.

Want to discover the best stores to buy resources in Starfield

If you’re aiming to stock up on resources quickly in Starfield, some vendors stand out as the best places to buy what you need. In New Atlantis on planet Jemison, the UC Distribution Center in the Commercial District offers a massive selection of rare metals and elements, making it the top spot for serious resource gathering. Nearby, Jemison Mercantile is another versatile store where you can find essentials like iron, tungsten, and adhesives. For players exploring other cities, Akila City’s Midtown Minerals and Shepherd’s General Store, Neon’s Mining League shop and Sieghart’s Outfitters, as well as the UC Exchange in Cydonia, all provide excellent resource options. Additionally, the Trade Authority has locations in nearly every major city and is especially useful if you want to buy or sell contraband items. These vendors collectively cover nearly every resource you might need for crafting, building, and outfitting your journey across the Settled Systems.

Which store offers the best prices for rare resources in Starfield

The UC Distribution Center in New Atlantis, run by Wen Tseng, is widely considered the best store for buying rare resources in Starfield due to its massive selection and frequent restocks of rare and exotic materials. However, in terms of pricing, this store does not offer better prices than other vendors-its advantage is primarily in selection and availability, not lower costs.

If you’re specifically seeking the lowest prices rather than the largest selection, no vendor stands out as consistently cheaper for rare resources; prices are generally standardized across major shops. However, becoming a UC citizen by completing Vanguard missions can grant you a discount at the UC Distribution Center, which effectively makes it the best option for both selection and price if you qualify for the discount.
