High above the scorching cliffs of Gerudo Canyon lies the Rakakudaj Shrine, a hidden challenge tied to the mysterious “Gerudo Canyon Crystal” quest. This guide shows how to locate the shrine, solve its crystal puzzle, and claim your reward in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.
Rakakudaj Shrine and Gerudo Canyon Crystal location
Rakakudaj Shrine is located in the southern Gerudo region, tucked beneath the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower. To begin the “Gerudo Canyon Crystal” quest, speak with the Steward Construct near the shrine ruins. Follow the beam of green light leading deep into the canyon below, where you’ll find the crystal trapped in a rock pile near a flowing sand pit. Use abilities like Ultrahand to free and transport the crystal back up the slope, being careful to avoid falling debris. Once the crystal is returned to its pedestal, the shrine will activate and become accessible for completion.
The Rakakudaj Shrine is found within the Gerudo Highlands, in a stream to the west of Mount Nabooru. The exact coordinates are (-2036, -1854, 0065).
But to activate the Gerudo Canyon Crystal challenge, you first need to stumble upon the shrine crystal, which is located between Gerudo Canyon and Mount Hylia, just west of the forked road carved out in the valley between them. The exact coordinates are (-1895, -2355, -0001).

Gerudo Canyon Crystal and Rakakudaj Shrine walkthrough
To complete the Gerudo Canyon Crystal quest, follow the green light from the Rakakudaj Shrine to find the missing crystal near the canyon’s base. Use Recall and Ultrahand to move the crystal from the broken bridge area, attaching it to a minecart on the nearby rail system. Ride the cart back with the crystal to the shrine’s entrance, then place it in the glowing pedestal to reveal the Rakakudaj Shrine. Inside, the shrine contains no additional puzzles-simply open the chest and collect your reward.
Reaping the rewards of Rakakudaj Shrine is all about schlepping a crystal across the desert. Don’t complain, it builds character!
1. Pick up the shrine crystal and head northwest a few yards to find a set of Zonai big wheels.

2. Use Ultrahand to construct a cart using the pre-built four-wheeler and the slab with two big wheels and steering device.
3. Follow the shrine beam north along the road – the big wheeler shouldn’t have many issues rolling over the rocky stream, but if you’re stuck, this is why god invented Ultrahand.

Best Zonai vehicle builds for Gerudo Canyon Crystal
Gerudo Canyon Crystal Overview
The Gerudo Canyon Crystal quest requires transporting a large crystal upstream along the river to Rakakudaj Shrine using Ultrahand on Zonai devices found nearby. Effective builds prioritize stability on uneven terrain, low battery drain, and space to secure the crystal without it falling off.โ
Recommended Zonai Vehicle Builds
Common builds near the crystal site use local devices like big wheels, a steering stick, and platforms for a sturdy cart. Assemble by attaching two big wheels to a platform base, adding a steering stick, and optionally fans for boost; grab the crystal and place it centrally before driving upstream over rocks and small falls.โ
-
Simple Big Wheel Cart: Platform + 2x Big Wheels + Steering Stick. Handles inclines well; use Ultrahand to reposition crystal if it slips.โ
-
Fan-Assisted Cart: Above plus 1-2 Fans at rear. Provides extra push against currents; ideal for waterfalls.โ
-
Hover Bike Variant (2x Fans + Steering Stick): For scouting or solo transport; not ideal for crystal but quick to build from common parts.โโ
Build Tips
Position wheels low for balance and activate fans sparingly to conserve energy. If stuck, dismantle and rebuild using nearby Zonai dispensers; avoid complex flyers as terrain favors ground vehicles. Save successful designs via Autobuild after unlocking it.โ
How to build FanBike for Gerudo exploration
FanBike, also known as the Hover Bike or Air Bike, is a versatile Zonai device build ideal for Gerudo exploration due to its speed, maneuverability over sand dunes, and low battery drain in desert winds.โโ
Required Components
Two Zonai Fans and one Steering Stick. Obtain Fans from nearby Zonai device piles in Gerudo Canyon or dispensers; Steering Sticks from Sky Island gumballs or constructs like those near Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.โโ
Step-by-Step Build
Find a flat surface near the crystal site or Gerudo riverbed.
-
Place one Fan face-up (arrow symbol upward).
-
Grab the Steering Stick, rotate it forward slightly using Ultrahand’s rotation arrows (tap once), and attach its center to the Fan’s side-it should stay upright without rolling.โโ
-
Position the second Fan behind the Steering Stick, arrow upward, and attach it to the back; align perfectly to avoid veering-shake with right stick if misaligned.โโ
-
Test by mounting (A button) and activating Fans; tilt forward for speed.โ
Gerudo Exploration Tips
Angle Fans slightly downward/backward for stable hovering over sands; add a third Fan below for extra lift in heat updrafts. Save via Autobuild (9 Zonaite) after unlocking for quick redeploys during canyon scouting or crystal transport. Dismantle and rebuild if flipped by gusts.โโ
