Hidden deep within the Temple of Time’s ruins, the Nachoyah Shrine challenges players to master the art of reversing time itself. This guide shows how to reach its concealed entrance and solve every puzzle inside to claim its rewards.
On this page, we’ll help you find the Nachoyah Shrine location, solve its puzzles, and walk you through the Ability to Rewind challenge so you can collect the chest and Light of Blessing.
When you’re done, our shrine locations page or interactive Hyrule map can direct you toward something else to do.
Nachoyah Shrine location and how to enter
Nachoyah Shrine is found inside the Temple of Time on the Great Sky Island, just west of the Room of Awakening where Link first wakes up. To enter, complete the closed-door objective by visiting the other shrines on the island-Ukouh, In-isa, and Gutanbac-to collect the Light of Blessing orbs. Once all three are obtained, return to the Temple of Time, interact with the door, and it will open, revealing the entrance to the Nachoyah Shrine inside.
The Nachoyah Shrine is found in the southern area of the Great Sky Island. The coordinates for the Nachoyah Shrine are (0388, -1660, 2299). It’s a bit tricky to enter, though. Follow these steps:
- Teleport to the Room of Awakening on the Sky level.
- Ascend to the top of the stone pavilion in the corner of the room.
- Use Recall on the first large cogwheel to reverse its rotation and walk across the first large cogwheel to the second large cogwheel.
- Rewind the second large cogwheel and walk across the platforms.
- Jump into the hole in the wall ahead of you and turn to the right around the corner.
- Continue through the path to find the Nachoyah Shrine on your right.
Nachoyah Shrine walkthrough
Nachoyah Shrine is located beneath the Temple of Time on the Great Sky Island, accessible after completing the first three shrines. Inside, you’ll learn how to use the Recall ability to reverse the movement of objects. Use it on the moving gears to cross the gaps and reach higher platforms. For the final challenge, reverse a large rotating gear to ride it upward toward the altar and collect the Light of Blessing.
The Nachoyah Shrine teaches you a few methods on how to use the Recall ability, such as using rewind to go against a water’s current, to reach higher elevation, or to reverse the rotation of an object.

1. After you proceed into the shrine, use the Recall ability on the raft in the water, then hop aboard to cross the body of water.

2. Recall the raft that falls from the waterfall and jump onto it.
3. Ride it back to the top and continue ahead to the cogwheel on your left.

4. Use the Recall ability on the cogwheel and ride it to the top to find a treasure chest with ten arrows inside.
5. Turn around to find two spinning dials above a gate. The gate will open once the two dials are overlapping each other, but they’re moving in opposite directions.

6. Wait for the two dials to overlap one another, then use the Recall ability on either one of the dials to ensure that both dials are moving in sync with each other. You can use Recall on either dial as long as they’re overlapping.
What rewards are in Nachoyah Shrine treasure chests
Nachoyah Shrine has only one treasure chest inside. It contains 10 arrows as its reward.
Detailed walkthrough for Nachoyah Shrine puzzles
Here’s a step-by-step, detailed walkthrough of every puzzle in Nachoyah Shrine (“The Ability to Rewind”).
Before you start
Nachoyah Shrine is designed to teach Recall, so you will use that ability in every room. Inside, there are three main puzzle sections plus the final statue room.
Room 1 – First river and raft
-
Move forward from the entrance until you reach a pool with a wooden raft slowly drifting away from you along the current. Stand near the water’s edge where you can easily jump on.
-
Wait until the raft has moved a little, then target the raft with Recall. When you activate Recall, its path will reverse and it will start moving back toward where it came from.
-
As soon as Recall is active, jump onto the raft. Because you reversed its movement, it now carries you smoothly across the pool to the opposite side without you needing to steer it.
-
Step off the raft on the far side and follow the short path ahead into the next section.
Tip: If Recall ends before you disembark, just wait for the raft to move again, then re-cast Recall and hop on.
Room 2 – Waterfall and cogwheel chest
You now deal with a longer water section that includes a waterfall and the shrine’s only treasure chest.
Crossing and climbing the waterfall
-
Walk forward until you see a second raft coming down a narrow water channel with a small waterfall. Stand where the raft passes closest to you.
-
When the raft has already gone down the fall and is starting to drift away, activate Recall on it. Its path rewinds, meaning it travels back up the waterfall along the same route it just took.
-
Quickly jump onto the raft after starting Recall, then ride it upstream and up the waterfall to the higher ledge.
-
Step off at the top. You’ll see an area ahead and, to your right, a large spinning stone cog/platform mounted by the wall.
Getting the treasure chest
-
Face the big spinning cog. It is continuously rotating, making it hard to stand on it without using your ability.
-
Aim at the cog and use Recall so it starts rewinding its rotation. While Recall is active, the surface effectively becomes a moving elevator in reverse.
-
Jump onto the cog as it rewinds and let it carry you upward. At the top of its rotation, jump onto the upper platform/ledge it brings you next to.
-
On this upper ledge is a treasure chest. Open it to get 10 arrows.
-
After looting the chest, turn around and either drop safely back down to the lower area or climb down carefully. Continue along the only path forward into the next chamber.
Final puzzle – Clock hands and gate
The last room has a barred gate and two huge “clock hands” rotating in opposite directions above it.
-
Walk up to the closed gate and look up: you’ll see two long stone hands circling around like a clock. The gate’s bars drop only when the two hands overlap at the same position.
-
Watch their movement for a full rotation so you can see exactly when they cross each other. They spin at a constant speed but in opposite directions.
-
As the two hands are about to line up on top of each other, get ready with Recall.
-
At the exact moment they overlap, quickly target one of the hands and use Recall. Rewinding its motion makes that hand retrace its path and stay aligned with the other, so both remain overlapping for several seconds.
-
While Recall is still active and the hands are overlapped, the bars on the gate remain lowered. Run straight through the open doorway into the final chamber.
Tip: It doesn’t matter which hand you target. If you miss the timing, just wait for them to cross again and retry.
Finishing the shrine
-
In the last room, walk up to the green sigil/statue and interact with it. This completes Nachoyah Shrine and awards you a Light of Blessing.
-
You’ll be returned outside the shrine. From here, you can head back toward the Temple of Time on Great Sky Island to continue the main quest.
