What is worth buying from Xur this week?
This week, Xur brings a solid lineup with several pieces worth your Legendary Shards. The highlight is the Exotic weapon The Colony, a grenade launcher that excels in PvP and PvE alike thanks to its self-tracking projectiles. For armor, Hunters can grab the Celestial Nighthawk for massive precision damage in boss phases, Titans might want the Heart of Inmost Light for faster ability regeneration, and Warlocks can pick up the Crown of Tempests, perfect for Arc builds. If you’re missing any of these, this is a good week to fill out your collection.
Here’s some more specific advice on Xur’s wares this week, March 17 to 21:
Sunshot
Xûr stands on the Sunshot bounty in EDZ, perched atop the hill near the Winding Cove. He offers Sunshot, the legendary solar hand cannon with Incendiary Rounds and Dragonfly, plus legacy gear like Trinity Ghoul and Dunemarchers. Grab his Fated Engram and Strange Coins before he vanishes on April 11.
Sunshot is an Exotic hand cannon that does Solar damage. Sunshot’s first Exotic perk is Sunburn, which causes the weapon to fire explosive rounds and highlight enemies that take damage. Its secondary perk, Sun Blast, causes enemies killed by Sunshot to explode.
The Dragon’s Shadow
The Dragon’s Shadow is a Hunter chest armor that enhances mobility and reload speed after dodging, making it highly effective for agile combat styles. Its perk, Wraithmetal Mail, provides improved handling, reload, and movement speed for a short duration after a dodge, giving players a sharper edge in fast-paced encounters. This piece pairs well with aggressive weapon loadouts and builds focused on constant movement and quick repositioning.
In terms of Hunter exotics, The Dragon’s Shadow is decent. Its exotic perk, Wraithmetal Mail, will reload all of the Hunter’s weapons when they dodge, and also increases movement and handling speed for a brief time after. This bonus is mostly valuable in PvP. However, Hunters already have Foetracer and other excellent PvP exotics to take. If you’re a hardcore PvP player or find yourself caught 2v1s frequently, pick this up. If none of that applies to you, skip it.

Helm of Saint-14
Helm of Saint-14 is a Titan Exotic helmet that enhances the power of Ward of Dawn and Sentinel Shield. Enemies entering the Ward are blinded, and allies inside gain an overshield, making it a strong choice for defensive play in both PvE and PvP. Its stat distribution this week favors high resilience and intellect, fitting well with builds focused on survivability and ability uptime.
Another returning Destiny Exotic, the Helm of Saint-14 is useful in Destiny 2. Its Exotic perk, Starless Night, causes your Ward of Dawn to blind enemies who walk inside it. Guarding with Sentinel Shield will provide the same result.
The Ward of Dawn is now a very powerful option in Destiny 2, with the Weapons of Light buff increasing player damage. This is a great helmet if you want to keep you and your allies even safer than a normal Ward of Dawn. And it just happens to be one of the coolest-looking Exotics in Destiny 2.
Xur’s roll this week comes with 65 total stats.
Transversive Steps
Transversive Steps are a reliable choice for Warlocks who favor mobility and quick weapon swaps. These exotic boots automatically reload your equipped weapon after a short sprint, giving players a steady advantage during fast-paced encounters. The increased movement speed can also support evasive tactics in both PvE and PvP modes, making them a versatile option for aggressive or survival-focused builds.
Transversive Steps are the Warlock speedy boots, and they’re a very good catch-all Exotic. Their Exotic perk, Strange Protractor, increases your sprint speed and automatically reloads your energy weapons. The reloading is secondary to just how powerful movement speed is in Destiny 2. Make sure to pick them up if you don’t have them yet.
Xur’s roll this week comes with 65 total stats.
Exotic Cipher quest
The Exotic Cipher quest this week gives players another shot at earning a valuable currency required for purchasing legacy Exotics from the Monument to Lost Lights. Guardians can pick up the quest from Xur’s inventory and complete specific in-game objectives, such as strikes, Crucible matches, or Gambit. Finishing the quest rewards one Exotic Cipher, making it worthwhile for newer players or collectors expanding their arsenal.

Starting in Beyond Light, Xur has a new quest for an Exotic Cipher. The Exotic Cipher lets you buy old Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Light kiosk in the Tower. You’ll need these items and some other currencies to pick up Exotics like Heir Apparent and Truth.
Are Sunshot and class exotics worth buying this week
Sunshot and the class exotics from Xur’s April 7-11 (2023) inventory remain solid picks today, especially for PvE ad clear and build synergy.
Sunshot Value
Sunshot excels in strikes, patrols, and mid-tier Nightfalls due to its explosive Solar chain reactions, synergizing with scorch/ignition builds across subclasses.
It’s not top-tier for high-end DPS but feels rewarding for aggressive playstyles and pairs well with Prismatic or Solar setups.
Worth buying if you lack it or need a fun primary-recent buffs keep it meta-relevant in 2026 PvE.
Class Exotics Value
-
The Dragon’s Shadow (Hunter chest): Boosts handling/reload on kills and auto-reloads after perfect dodge; great for speedy Solar/Prismatic Hunters but outshone by newer meta pieces.
-
Helm of Saint-14 (Titan helmet): Suppresses enemies in a bubble on Ward of Dawn; niche for support Titans in team PvE, less vital solo.
-
Transversive Steps (Warlock legs): Faster movement and grenade energy on kills; strong for roaming Warlock builds, especially Strand/Void, though class items compete.
These armors are cheap (23 Legendary Shards) and versatile for leveling alts or experimenting-grab if they fit your class or you’re missing them.
Skip if you prioritize current raid/dungeon god rolls, as newer exotics edge them out.
