Hatching-tide 2023 arrives with rare finds, cheeky surprises, and a chorus of rewards that will reshape your Chocobo playlist.

This will start the quest “Get Along and Play Knife,” which will direct you around Gridania to scare off some Sylphs. After completing that quest, the NPC in the tonberry suit next to her will have another quest for you, which is what rewards the “Frighten” emote. The quest requires you to clear the event FATE once, and it’ll lead you directly to it in Central Shroud.
FFXIV Hatching-Tide 2023 FATE
During the FFXIV Hatching-Tide 2023 event, players could take part in a special FATE called “Fowl Foul,” located in Gridania’s North Shroud. Participants helped gather escaped spriggans carrying stolen eggs, earning special event currency used to exchange for seasonal rewards like costumes and housing decorations. Completing this FATE was necessary to finish the event questline and gain access to all limited-time items and festive cosmetics.
The FATE pops up every few minutes in Central Shroud and you’ll notice a crowd of players around where it spawns. Once the FATE does start, remember to hit the “join FATE” button that appears or you will not be able to participate.
During the FATE, you’ll need to collect eggs while dodging the attacks of many Sylphs and a mammet. Getting hit will make it so you can’t move for a bit, but there aren’t any other adverse effects.
Since there are so many other players running around, we recommend using whatever button you have set to “confirm” so you can select the eggs, without accidentally selecting an enemy or player.
We turned in six eggs and got silver-tier contribution, which awarded us with five Special Midnight Archon Eggs. When we turned in 11 eggs, we got gold-tier contribution, which gave us 10 Special Midnight Archon Eggs. Either way, you’ll need to do the FATE a few times to get all the rewards.
FFXIV Hatching-Tide 2023 rewards
The Hatching-Tide 2023 event offered spring-themed rewards, including the adorable Tonberry and Pa-Paya Demastered emotes, as well as festive glamours inspired by colorful eggs and seasonal motifs. Players could also earn housing decorations such as the Hatching-Tide Confectionery and themed wall ornaments, bringing a cheerful touch to in-game homes. Most rewards were obtained through event quests and limited-time FATEs, encouraging participation during the event period.
The rewards (outside of the emote) are purchased from the NPC we mark below:

FFXIV Hatching-tide 2024 event changes and rewards
Hatching-tide 2024 in Final Fantasy XIV merged with Little Ladies’ Day for a combined spring event, shifting from the 2023 tonberry theme to a narrative blending egg hunts and princess celebrations. It ran from March 14 to April 1, 2024, starting in New Gridania at Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre (X:10.2, Y:9.4).
Key Changes
The event featured a single questline, “The Princesses and The Eggs,” involving a goobbue performer and her keeper, with city decorations alternating themes-Gridania for eggs, Ul’dah for Little Ladies’ motifs. Unlike 2023’s sylph-scaring FATEs and tonberry outfits, 2024 emphasized a streamlined story with mounted emotes and optional Sylph quests, drawing some criticism for fewer rewards despite the dual-event format.โ
Rewards
Main reward was the Peatie mount (pink goobbue with flower laurel), earned via the quest, plus the “She’s Goobbue and She’s Grace” achievement. No additional egg exchanges or outfits like prior years; focus stayed on the mount and basic event items.
