Pokemon Go Wish Masterwork Research Shiny Jirachi Guide and Rewards

Guides

Jirachi returns to Pokémon Go with the Wish Granted Masterwork Research, offering Trainers a rare chance to earn the mythical Pokémon through a fresh set of demanding tasks and exclusive rewards that test dedication and timing.

In order to get these tasks, you’ll need to buy the “Masterwork Research: Wish Granted” pass in the shop for $4.99. You can only purchase the pass up until March 20, but once you buy and start it, there is no time limit for completing it. This makes sense, as the tasks in the set should take the average player weeks, if not months, to complete.

Note that a different version of this research was made available to players who attended the Go Tour: Hoenn event in Las Vegas, but we list the steps to the global version below.

Masterwork Research ‘Wish Granted’ rewards: Is it worth buying?

The “Wish Granted” Masterwork Research offers exclusive rewards centered on encountering Shiny Jirachi, but its high cost makes it a decision for dedicated collectors rather than casual players. Along the way, trainers receive useful items like Rare Candy, Star Pieces, and premium battle resources, adding some value to the purchase. However, since similar bonuses can be earned through regular gameplay, the main appeal rests on owning the rare Shiny Mythical Pokémon itself.

Whether or not this research is “worth” buying is almost entirely dependent on how much you value Shiny Jirachi. This will likely be the only way to obtain Shiny Jirachi in this game, but the other rewards are obtainable through other means.

In total, Niantic has confirmed the entire Masterwork Research: Wish Granted quest will reward:

  • Shiny Jirachi
  • 9 Rare Candy
  • 20,405 XP
  • 12,700 Stardust
  • 2 Poffins
  • 2 Incense
  • 30 Ultra Balls
  • 20 Jirachi Candy
  • 10 Groudon Candy
  • 10 Kyogre Candy
  • 10 Rayquaza Candy

Tips for completing 385 Excellent Throws quickly

Completing 385 Excellent Throws in Pokémon Go requires targeted practice and smart Pokémon selection to speed up the process significantly. Focus on repeatable spawns and techniques that boost consistency, aiming for 20-50 throws per hour in high-density areas.

Target Pokémon

Choose species with large catch circles and minimal movement for reliable Excellents:

  • Mid-range, bulky ones like Tauros, Wailmer, Ponyta, Nosepass, Mareep, or Elektrike.

  • Avoid tiny/fast movers (e.g., Weedle unless practicing close throws) or aggressive jumpers.

Throw Techniques

  • Shrink the circle to Excellent size (about 1/4 screen height for close Pokémon, half for mid-range), then release-circle size locks in.

  • Use curveballs: Spin from your preferred side (e.g., bottom-right), time release as circle hits target size, adjust for attacks/jumps.

  • Circle-lock on raids: Hold and flick joystick left for wild, up twice for raids to force tiny circles.

Efficiency Strategies

  • Practice flat on a table first for muscle memory, then handheld; aim for 1-in-20 consistency building to every throw.

  • Skip catches initially: Let escapes give retries on the same warmed-up target; use basic balls to extend sessions.

  • Raid bosses or events with big spawners (e.g., Entei) for 15+ Excellents per encounter; combine with Incense/Lures in parks.

Best Pokémon to farm Excellent Throws on

Best Pokémon for farming Excellent Throws in Pokémon Go are those with large catch circles, minimal erratic movement, and frequent spawns or raid availability, allowing 10-20 attempts per encounter.

Top Wild Spawns

  • Tauros, Wailmer, Spheal: Huge targets that barely move; circle shrinks easily to Excellent size for near-guaranteed hits after 1-2 practice throws.

  • Slowpoke, Ponyta, Snover/Stantler: Bulky, stationary mid-range spawns ideal for curveball practice; common in events.

  • Nosepass, Ursaring, Whismur: Reliable jumpers with forgiving hitboxes; use escapes for retries without wasting balls.

Raid Bosses

  • Machamp (Tier 3), Entei/Raikou, Regirock: Big raid circles lock tiny for Excellents every throw; 10+ per raid with multiple balls.

  • Tyranitar, Snorlax: Massive, slow attackers perfect for chaining during events.

Quick Tips

Farm during spawn-heavy events with Incense; skip catches on wild ones to retry endlessly on the same Pokémon.
