Hidden corners of Wild Hearts hide two rare finds-Lightstone and Mirrorstone. Here’s where to chase them, why they matter, and the upgrades they unlock for your arsenal.
Two weapon upgrade materials you’ll be looking for early in the game are the ores Lightstone and Mirrorstone. Our Wild Hearts Lightstone and Mirrorstone guide will tell you how and where to find them, and give a tip for how to find even more.
Where to find Mirrorstone and Lightstone in Wild Hearts
Mirrorstone appears on rock walls and cliff faces in Akikure Canyon, reachable in Chapter 2 after battling the Earthbreaker kemono; identify it by the yellow crystal core amid darker stone. Lightstone grows at the base of cliffs and ledges in Fuyufusagi Fort, later in that chapter, with its dark orange, amber-like center often hidden by snow. Mine glowing rock formations in these areas or check Tsukumo Shrines for extras.
Your first few weapon upgrades will only need various Kemono parts and some Corestone that you can find anywhere (including the starting area, Harugasami Way). Not long after that, though, you’ll start seeing different ores like Mirrorstone and Lightstone.
Just like Kemono, you’ll find different kinds of ores in each area of Azuma, and you’ll unlock new areas by progressing the story.
You’ll find Mirrorstone when you reach Akikure Canyon at the beginning of Chapter 2 “Ancient Technology.”
You’ll find Lightstone a bit later in Chapter 2 when you reach Fuyufusagi Fort.
And, in case anyone was wondering, you’ll find Bluestone in the latter half of Chapter 1 “Azuma, Land of the East” when you get to Natsukodachi Isle (The Spirit Isle).
The easiest way to find Mirrorstone and Lightstone
Build Tsukumo Ore Shrines in Akikure Canyon for Mirrorstone and Fuyufusagi Fort for Lightstone; they collect five pieces automatically after a short wait. Place them near first discovery spots like canyon cliffs or fort forests to match local ores. Check back periodically to claim stacks without manual mining.
Running around and collecting every sparkly thing you see will get you a few pieces of almost every material available in the area, but there’s a much easier way to find ores – and you don’t even have to do anything.

Once you unlock the Tsukumo Ore Shrine Dragon Karakuri, you’ll be able to build a little shrine for those spherical robot pals. When you place one at your camp or a Dragon Pit, Tsukumo will stock up the local ores for you. After a little while, you can Collect Materials when you walk up. They’ll only give you five pieces of ore at a time, but you’ll get a nice mix of types.
How to farm Lightstone efficiently in Fuyufusagi Fort
Lightstone farming in Fuyufusagi Fort focuses on key spots and automation for efficiency. Prioritize the cavern camp cave system and Permafrost Lake.
Prime Mining Spots
Head to the cavern camp in the lower-left map area first; its cave system has dense clusters of amber-orange Lightstone nodes on walls. If depleted, fast-travel to Permafrost Lake (upper-left) for more nodes along icy walls and ruins.
Tsukumo Automation
Unlock and build Tsukumo Ore Shrines (Dragon Karakuri) at multiple Dragon Pits or camps in Fuyufusagi Fort-ideally 2+ for steady yields. Each shrine generates five random local ores (including Lightstone) over time, collectible passively; repeat visits maximize output without manual mining.
Respawn Cycles
Nodes respawn after hunts or time passes, so alternate hunts (e.g., Deathstalker) with farming runs. Multiple shrines speed this up, drowning you in Lightstone faster than solo mining.
Best Karakuri builds for mining Lightstone nodes
Efficient Karakuri for Mining
Karakuri in Wild Hearts enhance mobility and access to Lightstone nodes on Fuyufusagi Fort’s high walls and caves. Stack Dragon Karakuri for climbing and sustained gathering without excessive thread use.
Core Build: Gliders + Springs
Deploy multiple Gliders for quick traversal to amber-orange nodes in cavern camps and Permafrost Lake; chain 2-3 for wall-hugging paths. Add Spring Karakuri at base for instant vertical boosts to clusters, reducing fall damage and respawn trips.
Advanced Setup: Cranes + Platforms
Use Crane Karakuri positioned below dense node walls to hoist yourself precisely; pair with Platform for stable mining spots mid-air. Place 4-5 Tsukumo Ore Shrines nearby post-mining-these auto-farm Lightstone passively while you explore.
Thread Optimization Tips
Prioritize max thread via Tsukumo upgrades before runs; fuse Glider-Spring combos for hybrid jumps. This clears nodes 2x faster than melee alone, especially in Chapter 2/3 before Demon Stone replaces them.
