How to reach Blackbridge Grotto in Blue Prince

To reach Blackbridge Grotto in Blue Prince, you first need to solve the Laboratory Puzzle. Begin by drafting and powering the Boiler Room, then direct power to the Laboratory, which will allow you to access the room with the lever puzzle. Flip switch #9 followed by switch #3 in the Laboratory to activate the mechanism that permanently unlocks the Blackbridge Grotto entrance, located on the Private Drive between the Campsite and The Fountain. Once unlocked, the grotto grants access to a pedestal for Microchips and various terminals throughout the estate.

One of Blue Prince’s permanent additions, Blackbridge Grotto, is unlocked by solving the Laboratory puzzles. You’ll have to draft both the Laboratory and the Boiler Room and then route power to the Laboratory. You’ll also have to solve the periodic table puzzle to find the solution to the machinery in the corner, which our guide on Laboratory puzzles can help you complete.

Where to find the first Microchip in Blue Prince

The first Microchip in Blue Prince is located inside the Blackbridge Grotto, which becomes accessible after you solve the Laboratory Puzzle. Upon entering the grotto, you will find a pedestal in the center of the room with three overlapping circles carved on top. The first Microchip rests in the smallest circle on this pedestal, hinting at the existence of two more Microchips to find later. Placing this Microchip grants a permanent perk, allowing you to hack one offline terminal from another computer, enhancing your gameplay options.

Once you’ve unlocked Blackbridge Grotto unlocked, you’ll be able to find the first Microchip.

Head out the front door onto the Grounds. Take a left like you’re heading toward the Campsite or the Apple Orchard. On the way, you’ll pass a newly opened door on your left. That’s the entrance to Blackbridge Grotto.

Inside, you’ll find a pedestal with three overlapping circles carved into the top. In the smallest, you’ll find the first Microchip. If you pick it up, just put it back – that’s where it belongs.

Microchip #2 and #3 clues in Blue Prince

The second and third Microchips in Blue Prince are found by following clues from the in-game book “A New Clue.” For Microchip #2, a hint on page 15 depicts a hammer near a vase in the Entrance Hall. Players must take a Sledgehammer to the Entrance Hall and smash the two vases on the left side; the Microchip is hidden inside the left vase. For Microchip #3, clues on page 6 lead players to the West Path near the West Bridge. After unlocking the Garage and opening the Garage door, you head south through the gate and across a wooden plank to dig beside the West Bridge, where the third Microchip is buried underground. Collecting these Microchips is essential to unlock new areas and perks in the game.

Finding the other two Microchips means finding some clues. And what better place to look than in a book titled “A New Clue.”

To purchase it, you’ll need to draft a Bookstore. Do that and you can pick it up for 50 coins. When you draft a Library, you can check it out, and then read it the next time you draft the Library.

There’s a lot going on in “A New Clue.” We’re looking for two things in particular, though. The first is the illustration on page 15 (if you start counting from the title page). The illustration is of the protagonist sitting on a grid that looks an awful lot like the Mount Holly. There’s a vase and sledgehammer with him in the square that corresponds to the Entrance Hall.

The second clue is more elaborate. On page 6 (starting from the title page), there are some barely noticeable numbers after some of the words. Look for those numbers and take the words in order from 1 to 12 for the first part of the clue. It reads, “All checked corner case rooms had a low case clue found in the rooms.”

Back on page 5, there’s a list labeled “Corner Cases,” indicating six rooms. And four of those cases (rooms) have a checkmark.

In those rooms, there are notes. Each note has one word in low(er) case, like the clue said. If you check each of them, you’ll find the last part of the clue: “Buried beside west bridge.”

Below, we’ll show you where to find the second and third Microchips.

Where to find the second Microchip in Blue Prince

To find the second Microchip in Blue Prince, head to the Entrance Hall where you’ll need to use a Sledgehammer to break one of the two vases located on the south side of the room. Smash the vase on the left side as you enter, and inside you will discover the second Microchip hidden within.

With the clue from “A New Clue,” all you have to do to find the second Microchip is take a Sledgehammer to the Entrance Hall. On the south side of the room, there’s a pair of vases. When you walk up to them, you’ll get a smash icon. One of them will have the second Microchip inside.

Where to find the third Microchip in Blue Prince

The third Microchip in Blue Prince is hidden near the West Bridge excavation site. To find it, you need to first unlock the Garage Door to access the area. Then, bring a shovel and dig on the right side of the bridge (when facing the shed) where the ground will show a digging icon. This Microchip is buried underground and requires combining clues from the game’s notes to pinpoint its exact location. Once found, you can take it back to the Blackbridge Grotto and place it in the pedestal to progress further in the game.

Based on the clue(s) in “A New Clue,” the final Microchip is buried beside (the) west bridge. That’s referring to that small bridge you cross on the way to the Outer Room along the West Path that you unlock via the Garage.

The first thing you’ll need is a Shovel. Then, as you’re heading toward the Outer Room, step off the path to the right (north). A dig icon will pop up. That’s where you’ll find the third Microchip.

Microchips solution and reward in Blue Prince

In Blue Prince, the Microchips are crucial collectibles that unlock secret areas and grant valuable rewards. After solving the Laboratory Puzzle, players gain access to Blackbridge Grotto, where the first Microchip is found resting on a pedestal designed to hold three. To complete the set, the second Microchip is hidden inside a vase in the Entrance Hall, which can be revealed by smashing it with a sledgehammer. The third Microchip lies buried near the West Bridge, accessible after opening the Garage door and digging beside the bridge. Placing all three Microchips in the Blackbridge Grotto pedestal unlocks permanent access to the Orindian Ruins and grants a permanent perk allowing hacking of offline terminals from different computers, enhancing future gameplay runs.

As you find the Microchips, return them to Blackbridge Grotto. Once you place all three, you’ll get a flashy cutscene and a new door will open at the back of the server room.

Where are the hidden Microchips in Blue Prince’s Blackbridge Grotto and grounds

In Blue Prince, the Blackbridge Grotto already contains one Microchip installed in the pedestal at the center of the room. To unlock the massive vault door there, you need to find two additional Microchips located elsewhere on the estate. The second Microchip is hidden inside a vase in the Entrance Hall-use a sledgehammer to break the vase on the left side of the room to reveal it. The third Microchip is buried in the grass near the West Gate, just to the right of the small bridge leading to the Outer Room door; use a shovel to dig it up. Once you collect these two Microchips and place them in the Blackbridge Grotto pedestal alongside the first, the vault door will open, granting access to a rare new area.

Are there any other hidden objects near the Microchips in Blackbridge Grotto grounds

Yes, near the Microchips in the Blackbridge Grotto grounds, there are additional hidden objects and puzzles tied to the Microchips. Specifically:

  • At the Blackbridge Grotto itself, one Microchip is already installed in the pedestal, which has two more empty slots for the other Microchips you find.

  • Near the West Bridge, where you dig up one Microchip with a shovel, the area is also part of a larger puzzle hinted at by notes in various rooms. These notes contain italicized words that form the clue “buried beside west bridge,” leading you to the hidden Microchip.

  • In the Entrance Hall, breaking a vase with a sledgehammer reveals another Microchip. This vase is part of the environment that conceals secrets, and the clue to break it is found in a book called “A New Clue”.

  • Beyond just collecting the Microchips, after placing all three in the Blackbridge Grotto pedestal, you unlock access to the Orindian Ruins and a new room blueprint, indicating the Microchips are keys to further exploration and hidden areas.

  • Additionally, the Microchips can be used in a second hidden location: the scorched sundial in the Apple Orchard. By burning a hole in the sundial’s base and aligning its tiers, you open a compartment where you can place the Microchips again to unlock further secrets.

Thus, the grounds around the Blackbridge Grotto and the locations of the Microchips are rich with hidden objects and puzzles that extend beyond just finding the Microchips themselves.
