Each match spawns three to four Churches, and by interacting with the altar inside these Churches, you can increase your flask charges by one per Church visited. Players start with three charges, and by visiting all available Churches, you can raise this number up to six or seven charges. Additionally, defeating the boss at the end of Day 2 grants an extra flask charge, bringing the maximum total to seven. It is important to visit these Churches early in your run, as you cannot revisit the same Church to gain more charges, and these upgrades last only for the current match. Planning your route to include all Churches is essential for maximizing healing potential and surviving tougher encounters in the game.
As Flasks of Crimson Tears are your default source of healing (not to mention the most reliable source as well), it’s worth getting as many charges as possible. To increase the number of charges in your flask, you need to visit churches.
According to our testing, three to four churches will spawn every match. When you find a church, interact with the altar inside of it to increase your flask charge by one.
The upgrade to your Flask of Crimson Tears lasts for the whole match, and you won’t lose them if you die. That, you don’t carry the upgrades over to the next match, which means that visiting churches is a core aspect of Elden Ring Nightreign’s gameplay loop.

You can only visit churches during the first two nights, and the coming of a new day does not restore upgrades at churches you’ve already visited. Alternate healing methods in Elden Ring Nightreign
In Elden Ring Nightreign, alternate healing methods complement the primary use of the Flask of Crimson Tears, providing crucial support during intense battles. Besides increasing flask charges by visiting churches or defeating bosses, players can heal through Sites of Grace, which fully restore health and refill flasks even after being knocked down. Healing flower patches scattered across the map offer gradual HP restoration when approached. Consumable items like Warming Stones provide area-wide healing for allies, while certain weapons and equipment possess passive traits that restore health upon dealing damage or defeating enemies. Additionally, healing incantations and talismans, such as the Crimson Seed Talisman, enhance healing effects and contribute to survivability beyond flask usage.
While Flasks of Crimson Tears are the default means of healing in Elden Ring Nightreign, there are many additional methods of healing as well, although you never know whether you will find most of them or not during a match.
Aside from flasks, your next-best bet for healing during a match of Nightreign is the Site of Grace. When you get close to one, they not only recover your HP and FP, but they also replenish your flask charges. Take advantage of the fact Sites of Grace are marked on your map. If you know how far away the closest Site of Grace is, drinking your last flask, increasing the chances of you staying alive for the journey, is worthwhile.
Beyond Sites of Grace, keep an eye out for relics that add healing effects to your flask. For example, the Delicate Burning Scene relic makes it so your Flask of Crimson Tears also heal allies when you use it.
You can also interact with special glowing fields, which are spread out across the map. Each type of field gives you a different buff. Look for the small field with red flowers to restore some HP.
There are also incantations that will heal you, such as Urgent Heal (heals a small amount of HP) and Erdtree Heal (creates an area-of-effect that recovers HP for you and your allies). You shouldn’t consider relying too much on using these though. You never know if you will find a Finger Seal, the piece of equipment you need to cast incantations – or even better types of seals – and what incantation it will come with.
Passive abilities are also a rare yet extremely potent method of healing. When defeating powerful enemies, a purple sphere appears from which you can pick a reward. It is possible to see abilities that will restore HP when you land attacks on enemies.
Just like incantations, passive abilities are random, so you never know when one is going to appear for you. However, if you get one, a passive ability might be a better pick than a new weapon, so it’s worth paying close attention.
