Soaring above Pandora’s breathtaking landscapes isn’t just a fantasy-it’s a rite of passage. In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, your journey to claim your own Ikran, the iconic flying mount, begins with the eleventh main story quest, “Take Flight.” Whether you’re on PC, PlayStation, or Xbox, prepare to climb treacherous peaks, prove your worth, and finally bond with your loyal sky companion-the moment that transforms exploration and combat forever.
How to get an ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
To get an ikran in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you must progress through the main storyline until you reach the quest called “Take Flight,” which is the eleventh main mission in the game. During this quest, you’ll travel to the Ikran Rookery, where you must climb challenging terrain and prove yourself worthy before bonding with your own ikran. The process involves navigating obstacles, using Na’vi senses, and interacting with the environment to reach your future flying companion. Once you successfully bond with the ikran, it becomes your permanent flying mount, allowing you to soar across Pandora, customize its appearance, and use it in both exploration and combat.
Like we said, there’s an ikran on the cover art, so it’s not really a surprise that you’re going to get a flying mount at some point in the game, but you do have to put in a bit of work before you get it.

You’ll meet your ikran mount as part of the main story during a quest called, fittingly, “Take Flight.” It’s the 11th main story quest, so you’ll have to play for a while first. It took us about 10 hours to get there, but your mileage may vary based on how much wandering you do, how many side quests you complete, and how long it takes you to find those elusive superior ingredients.
During “Take Flight,” you’ll head to the Ikran Rookery and do a lot of climbing to reach the top. Once you’ve soothed the ikran that you’ve been chasing, you’ll bond with it and then get to name her.

You can’t give your ikran a custom name, sadly. You’ll get a list of options that range from Na’vi-sounding names like Temek to (unexpectedly) silly names like Floof or Carol (out of which, Floof is clearly the best). You’ll also get to pick her initial pattern, but you can find other patterns out in the world and choose those from your Character menu.
