Fortnite OG season schedule dates
Fortnite OG seasons follow a schedule that revisits the classic Chapter 1 seasons from 2017 to 2019, cycling through them at a quicker pace. Season 3 began on March 25, 2025, and is set to end on June 7 or 8, 2025, marking one of the longest Fortnite OG seasons yet. Season 4 is scheduled to start immediately after, on June 8, 2025. This schedule allows players to experience the nostalgia of early Fortnite with a rotating selection of classic seasons throughout 2025.
Before we go week-by-week and season-by-season, here’s the complete Fortnite OG season schedule at a glance:

What follows is what has been confirmed to be added to Fortnite OG so far, with developer Epic saying items could be remain for the entire season, or only stay for that given week. We’ll find out exactly what is available when each week’s hotfix arrives.
It is also teased there is more to come than what’s announced so far – suggesting a few surprises along the way. (Fingers crossed for the Bow and Balloons!)
What time does the season update go live in Fortnite OG?
Fortnite OG Season updates typically go live shortly after the previous season ends, with downtime occurring for a few hours to implement the new content. For example, Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 3 ended on June 7, 2025, at around 2 PM ET, and the new season update was expected to go live later that day or by the morning of June 8, 2025. This pattern suggests that season updates usually launch in the early morning or late evening hours to minimize disruption for players.
Each Thursday, the current Fortnite OG season will change at the following time:
- 6 a.m. PST for the West Coast of North America
- 9 a.m. EST for the East Coast of North America
- 2 p.m. GMT for the U.K.
- 3 p.m. CEST for west mainland Europe
- 11 p.m. JST in Japan
Despite Epic phrasing this as a “hotfix,” in our experience, the map will change without any additional downtime or download – meaning you should be able to play right away.
Fortnite OG Week 1 (Season 5)
Fortnite OG Week 1 (Season 5) marked the return to the classic Chapter 1 experience, featuring the original Season 5 challenges that first launched on July 12, 2018. This week introduced players to a fresh set of challenges including dealing SMG damage, searching Supply Llamas, and exploring new map features like floating lightning bolts. The season was notable for its map changes, such as the addition of a Viking ship, desert outpost, and ancient statues, along with the introduction of Fortnite’s first four-person vehicle, the All Terrain Kart (ATK). These elements combined to offer a nostalgic yet dynamic gameplay experience for Battle Pass holders aiming to unlock exclusive rewards and progress through the season.

Season 5 is the launch season of Fortnite OG, running between Friday, Nov. 3, and Thursday, Nov. 9, and is perhaps the closest to a “classic” Chapter 1 season as we’re going to get.
Featured vehicles are the Shopping Kart and All Terrain Kart (also known as the golf kart), as well as the Damage Trap, Grappler and Boogie Bomb items. Weapons Pump Shotgun, Hunting Rifle, Assault Rifle also make an appearance.
Fortnite OG Week 2 (Season 6)
Fortnite OG Week 2 of Season 6, which launched on November 9, 2023, introduced significant map changes and new content that brought back classic elements from the original Fortnite experience. This week featured the arrival of Kevin the Cube in Loot Lake, which transformed into a spiraling whirlpool, alongside the return of iconic weapons like the Double Barrel Shotgun, Clinger, and Six Shooter. Players also saw the reintroduction of defensive items such as the Chiller Trap and Port-a-Fortress, as well as new vehicles like the Quadcrasher and Driftboard, enhancing gameplay variety. The Week 2 challenges included tasks such as visiting corrupted areas, using Shadow Stones, and dealing damage with various weapons, providing both free and Battle Pass players with engaging objectives to complete.

Season 6 is coming to Fortnite OG between Thursday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 16. This was perhaps best known as the “Halloween season,” and was when the Cube decided to set up residence at Loot Lake.
New this week is the Quadcrasher, Mounted Turret, and Driftboard, the latter of which was first introduced in Season 7, but is showing up here early. Meanwhile, new items and weapons include the Double Barrel Shotgun, Clinger, Six Shooter, Chiller Trap, Port-a-Fortress “and more,” according to Epic.

Fortnite OG Week 3 (Season 7 and Season 8)
Fortnite OG Week 3, covering Seasons 7 and 8, launched on November 16, 2023, bringing significant nostalgic content back to the original Fortnite map. This update introduced a snowy biome with new points of interest like Frosty Flights and Pirate Camps, along with the return of classic weapons such as the Flint-Knock Pistol, Minigun, and Quad Launcher. Additionally, new vehicles like the X-4 Stormwing plane and Pirate Cannon were reintroduced, enhancing gameplay with aerial combat options. This week marked the penultimate phase of the Fortnite OG experience before the final seasons rolled out later in November.

Season 7 and Season 8 are coming to Fortnite OG between Thursday, Nov. 16, and Thursday, Nov 23, and is set to introduce some of the more significant map changes, such as the snow biome and pirate-themed points of interest.
In terms of things to play with, the Pirate Cannon and X-4 Stormwing (Fortnite’s plane) can help propel you across the map quickly in their own respective ways. Meanwhile, expect items Buried Treasure, Poison Dart Trap and Itemized Glider Redeploy to be joined by the Minigun, Quad Launcher, and Flint-Knock Pistol.

Fortnite OG Week 4 (Season 9 and Season X)
Fortnite OG Week 4 (Season 9 and Season X) marked the final phase of the Chapter 4 Season OG experience, running from November 23 to December 2, 2023. This update recreated iconic elements from Fortnite’s Season 9 and Season X, bringing back classic weapons like the Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike, and the futuristic Jetpack from Season 9’s The Final Showdown event. The map featured a meteor above Dusty Divot and introduced loot pool changes, including the return of Ballers and new rift zones, enhancing the nostalgic yet dynamic gameplay. This period culminated with the Fortnite Big Bang event, signaling the end of the Season OG journey.

The final week of Fortnite OG highlights Season 9 and Season X (also known as Season 10, and the last season of Chapter 1), and runs between Thursday, Nov. 23, and Saturday, Dec. 2.
On the weapon front, expect the Proximity Grenade Launcher, Air Strike and Heavy Sniper Rifle to make a comeback, as well as items Storm Flip and Junk Rift. Best of all? Jetpacks and The Baller make their return also show up, which are as divisive as they are a blast to use.
When does Fortnite OG end?
Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 3 is set to end on June 7, 2025, at 2 PM Eastern Time, following a slight reschedule from its original end date of June 8, 2025, at 1:30 AM ET. This season began on March 25, 2025, and has been a fan favorite, featuring classic Chapter 1 elements alongside new content. Players are encouraged to complete their challenges and level up before the season concludes, as the next season will bring significant map changes and new gameplay experiences.

Fortnite OG will end on Saturday, Dec. 2. The season finale will be marked by a live event called “The Big Bang” taking place at 2 p.m. ET, with developer Epic saying experiences they have made – which will almost certainly include the core battle royale modes – will be disabled two hours prior.
This means Fortnite OG will end at the following times:
- 9 a.m. PST for the West Coast of North America
- 12 p.m. EST for the East Coast of North America
- 5 p.m. GMT for the U.K.
- 6 p.m. CEST for west mainland Europe
- 2 a.m. JST in Japan (Dec. 3)
From there, only player-made experiences will be playable until Fortnite as a whole goes offline later that day at the following times:
- 8:30 p.m. PST for the West Coast of North America
- 11:30 p.m. EST for the East Coast of North America
- 4:30 a.m. GMT for the U.K. (Dec. 3)
- 5:30 a.m. CEST for west mainland Europe (Dec. 3)
- 1:30 p.m. JST in Japan (Dec. 3)
This not the first time a Fortnite season has ended on a Saturday, and based on those other weekend finales, Sunday, Dec. 3, is likely when the new season will go live.
That said, “The Big Bang” alludes to the “black hole” event that ended the original Chapter 1 back in 2019, which saw the game go offline for two days. It’s possible we might be faced with a similarly long downtime – especially with some of the rumored new modes and features on the way – meaning we might not be playing again until the Monday, but we’ll wait and see.
Is Fortnite OG staying?
Fortnite OG is indeed staying and has become a permanent mode in the game, allowing players to revisit the original Chapter 1 seasons with a nostalgic twist. Epic Games has committed to cycling through the classic seasons throughout 2025, with Fortnite OG Season 3 running until June 8, 2025, followed immediately by Season 4. The mode has been very popular, with fans appreciating the return to the 2018 map, classic locations like Tilted Towers, and original gameplay elements, making it a beloved alternative to the current Battle Royale experience. While seasons in Fortnite OG are shorter than regular Battle Royale seasons, the mode’s ongoing presence and regular updates suggest it will remain a staple for players seeking a classic Fortnite experience.

We know when Fortnite OG will end as a season. Another question is: Is this the last we will see of Fortnite OG as a map?
If we were to speculate – and we should stress this pure guesswork on our part – based on the popularity of Fortnite OG alone, it would not be a surprise if these original maps return to the game at some point, or event become a permanent mode, similar to how Zero Build seemed to be a one-off that has since stuck around.
Of course, Epic has historically been happy to wipe the Fortnite slate clean with seasonal updates, and the return of a previous map is a new concept for the game – so who knows what will happen here. To be safe, make sure you get as much time with Fortnite OG as you can. We certainly will!
