Ancient rhythms echo once more across Fontaine as the “Awakening’s Real Sound” quest leads Travelers to track down the elusive Kory Drums. Each drum hides its own challenge, tied to elemental melodies and hidden mechanics that test both timing and intuition.

To retrieve the Kory Drums, you’ll need to complete trials scattered across the new regions, but the trials involve some new mechanics that have just been introduced in patch 3.6. Continue reading to find out how to get the other Kory Drums in Genshin Impact‘s “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest.

Keep in mind, there are other Kory Drums scattered around the region. The Kory Drums below are just the ones involved in the “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest.

Kory Drum locations in Genshin Impact

Kory Drums can be found across the Foggy Forest and near the Chizhang Wall in the Chenyu Vale region. Each drum is tied to a unique sound puzzle that players must complete by striking the drum in rhythm with glowing symbols. Some are placed near cliffs or waterfalls, making them easier to spot by their distinct blue glow. Interacting with all the Kory Drums is required to progress through the “Awakening’s Real Sound” questline, revealing new exploration points and rewards along the way.

After you’ve copied the drum scores during the “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest, you’ll be tasked with collecting the other Kory Drums. There are three different Kory Drums that you must collect – each with their own unique trial.

Submerged Kory Drum – Korybantes: Samjna

The Submerged Kory Drum linked to the Korybantes: Samjna quest can be found deep within the watery ruins of the designated area. Players must drain part of the site through nearby mechanisms before approaching the drum. Once accessible, striking it according to the rhythm sequence revealed by the surrounding carvings activates the sound trial. Completing the challenge progresses the Samjna stage and triggers the related puzzle sequence needed for the quest’s continuation.

First Trial of Submerged Waves

1. Travel to the quest marker located above the Vourukasha Oasis.
2. Commence the trial by interacting with the bell to see the path of Dendro particles.
3. Use the “Sorush” gadget (set to “Z” by default) and interact with the red four-leaf sigil (set to “E” by default) to move it.
4. Place the red four-leaf sigil behind the trail of Dendro particles and exit the “Sorush” gadget (set to “Z” by default).
5. Interact with the bell again to recommence the trial, and interact with the four-leaf sigil to collect all of the Dendro particles at once.

Second Trial of Submerged Waves

1. Interact with the bell to commence the trial.
2. Interact with the four-leaf sigil above you and touch each Dendro particle as you’re descending to the ground.
3. Repeat step two if you missed any particles until you retrieve all of them.

Third Trial of Submerged Waves

1. Start the trial by interacting with the bell.
2. Use the “Sorush” gadget and collect the red four-leaf sigil.
3. Place the red four-leaf sigil behind the trail of four Dendro particles ahead of you.
4. Exit the “Sorush” gadget and interact with the red four-leaf sigil to jump to its location.
5. Interact with the next four-leaf sigil to collect the remaining Dendro particles.

Electrified Kory Drum – Korybantes: Sankhara

The Electrified Kory Drum in the “Korybantes: Sankhara” quest is found within the rainforest area of Sumeru, positioned near ancient ruins surrounded by lush vegetation and flowing water. To activate it, align the drumbeats with the rhythm sequence shown by the elemental echoes in the area. Completing the rhythm correctly causes the mechanism to resonate, revealing the next part of the puzzle that connects to the other Kory Drums. Precision in timing is key, as missing a beat resets the sequence and requires you to repeat the pattern from the start.

Trial of Ferocious Thunder

1. Interact with the electrified bell to start the trial.
2. Defeat all of the enemies to complete the trial.
3. Collect the Kory Drum.

Desert Kory Drum – Korybantes: Vijnana

The Desert Kory Drum found at Korybantes: Vijnana lies within a quiet canyon marked by ancient carvings and scattered ruins. Activating it requires precise timing to match the rhythm symbols shown during the puzzle. Players must observe the sequence carefully and use the correct strikes to produce harmonious tones that awaken the mechanism. Completing this challenge reveals hidden treasures and progresses the “Awakening’s Real Sound” quest, deepening the connection between rhythm and the desert’s mysterious heritage.

Trial of Fluorescent Flame

1. Interact with the flaming bell to commence the trial.
2. Either follow Sorush from location to location within the time limit, or follow our image above to each of the seven locations. Each location has two torches on both sides of it, so look out for the torches to easily find where you’re supposed to bring the flame.
3. Collect the Kory Drum after all seven locations have been lit.

How to play Kory Drums according to scores in Awakening’s Real Sound

To play the Kory Drums in Genshin Impact’s “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest, interact with each of the five drums (placed left to right: Vijnana/Pyro, Samjna/Hydro, Rupa/Dendro, Sankhara/Electro, Vedana/Cryo) at the giant tree after collecting them. First select “Check Drum Score” to view the leaf-based notation on each, then “Begin Performance” and follow the sequence as golden circles glow one by one.

Note Meanings

Leaf symbols dictate actions, read top-left to bottom-right:

• Full leaf: Plunge Attack (jump then plunge onto the drum).

• Half-full leaf: Normal Attack (basic hit on the drum).

• Empty leaf: Pause (stand still, do nothing until the glow fades).

Timing is key-act only when the golden circle appears for that note, or you’ll fail and restart.

Drum Sequences

Complete all five in order to trigger the cutscene with Rashnu awakening and progress the quest. If mistimed, just retry-the scores stay copied from earlier cavern walls.​

Where to find the missing Kory Drums

In Genshin Impact’s “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest, there are actually five Kory Drums total, but the “missing” ones typically refer to either the initial overworld ones (if you haven’t collected their scores) or the three trial-specific ones (Samjna, Sankhara, Vijnana) needed to progress after the cavern section.

Initial Overworld Drums (Copy Scores First)

These are found before the trials-check cavern walls for leaf scores, then return later:

• Drum 1: Cliff east of Asipattravana Swamp (small hilltop).​

• Drum 2: North of Drum 1, eastern swamp side.​

• Drum 3: Small hill north of Drum 2, eastern Asipattravana Swamp.​

• Drum 4: Cave behind Gray Crystals in Hills of Barsom (drop nearby Farrwick to reveal).​

• Drum 5: Same Hills of Barsom cave area.​​

Trial Drums (The “Other” Missing Ones)

Quest markers appear after copying scores-complete trials to unseal:

• Samjna (Submerged Waves): Above Vourukasha Oasis; use Sorush to reposition sigils and collect Dendro particles via three bells.

• Sankhara (Ferocious Thunder): South of Statue of the Seven (Realm of Farakhkert); defeat Electro enemies after ringing bell in cavern.

• Vijnana (Fluorescent Flame): West of Gate of Zulqarnain cave; carry flame from Pyro bell to light 7 altars using Sorush.

Return all to the giant tree once found. If a specific drum marker isn’t showing, ensure you’ve finished the prior cavern scores step.
