Hidden among ancient ruins and forgotten altars, the Lost Monument Fragments hold the key to completing the Monumental Study – each piece tucked away in corners that reward sharp eyes and patient exploration across Teyvat.
‘Monumental Study’ world quest starting location
The “Monumental Study” world quest begins in the Desert of Hadramaveth, within the Sumeru region. Players can start it by speaking to Soheil at the Tanit Camps, located west of the Sands of Al-Azif area. After the dialogue, Soheil assigns the task of investigating several ancient monument fragments scattered across the desert. The quest marker will guide you to the first location, setting the stage for uncovering the Lost Monument Fragments.

To start “Monumental Study,” you must complete the following world quests in the “Khvarena of Good and Evil” quest line
- “Asipattravana Itihasa”
- “Awakening’s Real Sound”
Once you’ve completed both, head over to Sosi – located right under the “R” in Temir Mountains on the map – and interact with her to start the quest.
Lost Monument Fragment locations
Lost Monument Fragments for “Monumental Study” are scattered across specific spots in Sumeru, often near ruin devices, broken stone structures, or survey points marked by Jeht and Tirzad’s expedition gear. Each fragment appears as a faintly glowing stone piece that you can interact with, usually after clearing nearby enemies or environmental hazards. Track your progress through the quest log, then match the described survey locations with the map markers to avoid missing any fragments between phases of the investigation.

After you finish investigating the Fatui Camps, you’ll reach the second half of the “Monumental Study” world quest. In this portion of the quest, you need to search for Lost Monument Fragments which can be pretty difficult because they’re invisible! The only way to spot them is to use the “Sorush” gadget. As Sorush, touch the fragments to collect them and complete the quest.
For a closer look at where each Lost Monument Fragment is located, check out the sections below.
Lost Monument Fragment 1 Location
This fragment marks a scattered remnant of a once-grand monument, its carved shoulders pitted by time and weather. The surrounding ruins hint at a larger story, with moss-draped stone and faint patterns guiding curious explorers toward the next clue.

The first Lost Monument Fragment can be found near the huge tree where you had to play the Kory Drums in the “Awakening’s Real Sound” world quest. Switch to Sorush and fly beneath the green symbol on the tree to find the first fragment.
Lost Monument Fragment 2 Location
The second Lost Monument Fragment sits atop a rocky outcrop in the northern part of the Valley of the Fallen Water, Fontaine. Climb the jagged cliffs east of the central waterfall, using nearby Four-Leaf Sigils for quick boosts. From the outcrop, glide southeast to spot a small cavern entrance glowing faintly with purple light. Enter the cave and follow the narrow path upward; the fragment appears on a ledge near a cluster of Ruin enemies. Clear them first to collect it safely.

The second Lost Monument Fragment can be found at the top of the cave entrance on the left side of the Asipattravana Swamp. For a more precise location, head to the location marked by a star in the image above.
Lost Monument Fragment 3 Location
Lost Monument Fragment 3 lies near the cliffside southwest of the Waypoint in the northern Chenyu Vale region. Glide down toward the small pool below, where several broken stone tablets are scattered among the rocks. The fragment rests beside a larger monument piece covered in moss, partially hidden by nearby bushes. Interacting with it will trigger a brief dialogue confirming its recovery.

The third Lost Monument Fragment can be found at the highest point in Tunigi Hollow. For this fragment, you’ll need to be on the highest cliff overlooking Tunigi Hollow, or else Sorush will be out of range from your character. The easiest way to reach the top of the cliff is to start the challenge found on the west side of the cliff. This challenge will create platforms and four-leaf sigils for you to fly to the top of the cliff.

The fourth Lost Monument Fragment can be found beside the teleport waypoint south of Vourukasha Oasis. Travel to the waypoint and switch to Sorush to find the fragment in front of the green arch.
