A mysterious bell puzzle hidden deep within Hogwarts challenges your wit and timing-here’s how to crack the “Solved by the Bell” side quest and claim its magical reward.
If you find yourself in Henrietta’s Hideaway in Hogwarts Legacy, you may come across a Musical Map which shows a hidden treasure somewhere in the Highlands. As you’re reading the map, you’ll soon realize that you have to read sheet music to get the treasure. If you’re not the most musically inclined individual, you may have trouble playing the correct tune. Follow our step-by-step walkthrough for the side quest “Solved by the Bell” to easily find the musical map and solve the bell puzzle by playing a familiar melody.
Finding the Musical Map in Hogwarts Legacy
The Musical Map can be found inside Henrietta’s Hideaway, located on the southern tip of the Manor Cape region. After entering the ruins, solve a simple puzzle involving fire and ice spells to gain access to the main chamber. Inside, a chest on a small pedestal holds the map. Once collected, the parchment reveals a cryptic path and symbols that will guide you to the location needed to complete the “Solved by the Bell” quest.

- Make your way to Henrietta’s Hideaway in the southern section of the Manor Cape. There will be multiple foes above the entrance, so be ready to take them out when you arrive.
- Continue down the path inside Henrietta’s Hideaway, and set the brazier in front of the statue on the left on fire by either using the spellConfringo or Incendio.
- Use Accio or Wingardium Leviosa on the cube, and place it onto the left platform on the ground when facing the large wooden double door.
- Cast Incendio on the cube on the left and Glacius on the cube on the right.
- Head down the stairs and defeat the enemies inside the room.
- Proceed up the turning staircase and continue forward to see an enemy get swept away by the floor.
- Cast Arresto Momentum onto the floor to prevent it from sweeping you away.
- Move onto the next room and defeat all of the dark wizards inside.
- When facing the large statue in the room, turn right and move towards the fractured stone wall which will open up revealing a secret room behind it.
- Collect the Musical Map on the table beside the wall to start the quest “Solved by the Bell.”
- Return to the start to exit Henrietta’s Hideaway.
Bell puzzle location in ‘Solved by the Bell’
The bell puzzle in Solved by the Bell is found at Clagmar Castle, located in the southeastern corner of the Highlands. The site is guarded by Ashwinders, so it’s wise to clear them out before tackling the puzzle. Once the area is secure, look for a tall tower with several bells hanging along its structure. Using the spell Accio, pull each bell until they ring in the correct sequence to complete the challenge and finish the quest.

- Travel to Clagmar Castle which is located in Clagmar Coast.
- Defeat the enemies inside the castle.
- Return to the bells which can be found in the southwestern corner of the castle.
Playing the ‘Harry Potter’ tune on the bells
To solve the musical puzzle, ring the bells in the correct order to play the familiar “Harry Potter” melody. The sequence is based on the notes shown on the nearby musical chart. Striking the bells in the proper order triggers a short animation announcing that the tune was played correctly, completing the task. If you make a mistake, simply try again until the melody plays as intended.

- Use the basic cast to hit the bells in the correct order which is shown in the image above. You’ll play a tune that is familiar to fans of the series, and a chest will spawn to your left.
- Open the chest and collect your rewards to complete the side quest “Solved by the Bell.”

On numerous occasions in recent years, billionaire and Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has taken public stances against inclusive transgender laws and trans rights, and has written fiction that has been condemned by LGBTQ organizations for its use of harmful anti-trans tropes. Hate crimes, as well as legislation that denies the rights of trans people, have become more prevalent in the U.K. since 2019, and, more recently, in the United States as well.
According to an FAQ from Hogwarts Legacy publisher Warner Bros. Interactive – the parent company of Avalanche Software, the game’s developer – Rowling is “not directly involved” with the creation of Hogwarts Legacy. Regardless, the sales and widespread attention generated by a AAA video game will benefit Rowling, and that has led some fans to decide not to buy the game. Where is Henrietta’s Hideaway and how to enter it
Henrietta’s Hideaway is located in Manor Cape, southeast coast near Bainburgh (or Poidsear Castle area), directly below some Ashwinder-guarded ruins.
Exact Location
Travel southeast from the coast toward the Merlin Trial in the ruins atop the hill. The entrance lies below these ruins, guarded by Ashwinders including an Infamous Foe like Dunstan Trinity.
How to Enter
Follow the path southeast, then veer left toward the Merlin Trial; descend the steps to the wooden doors marking the secret entrance. Use Disillusionment to sneak past enemies if preferred.
Upon entry, solve the first puzzle: Light the brazier by the left reaper statue with Incendio/Confringo to reveal a cube; use Wingardium Leviosa to place it on the door’s pedestal. Apply Incendio to the left block and Glacius to the right one to open the door.
How to solve the first reaper statue puzzle inside Henrietta’s Hideaway
Henrietta’s Hideaway’s first reaper statue puzzle requires specific spells to reveal and place a block, then activate paired elements.
Step-by-Step Solution
Upon entering through the wooden doors, face the two reaper statues flanking the sealed door ahead.
-
Turn to the left reaper statue and cast Incendio or Confringo on the brazier in front of it. This rotates the statue, revealing a movable block behind it.
-
Use Wingardium Leviosa (or Accio) to grab the block and place it on the fiery pedestal directly in front of the main door.
-
Cast Incendio or Confringo on the left pedestal block (now in place) to ignite it.
-
Cast Glacius on the right pedestal block (already present) to freeze it.
The door will open once both elements align (fire and ice). Proceed inside to fight Ashwinders and continue.
