How to evolve Applin into Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask

Guides

Discover the sweet secret behind evolving Applin into its brand-new form, Dipplin, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC. This unique evolution requires a special Syrupy Apple found only in the Kitakami region’s Mossfell Confluence. Learn where to catch Applin, how to obtain this rare apple, and transform your apple wyrm into the delightful candy apple Pokémon, Dipplin, to complete your Kitakami Pokédex and add a fresh twist to your team.

Where to find Applin

Applin can be found primarily in the Kitakami region of The Teal Mask DLC, especially in the Apple Hills, where it is more common and includes a static Bug Tera Applin encounter that can be repeatedly caught. Additionally, Applin appears hanging from trees in apple orchards west of Mossui Town and can also be found in low-level Tera Raid Battles within Kitakami. To catch Applin, look for it disguised as small fruits on tree branches and use Koraidon or Miraidon to dash into the trees to knock it down.

You can find Applin even without the DLC in any of the locations below:

You can use a dragon-type sandwich to help boost the encounter rate of Applin. We use the “Great Avocado Sandwich” which consists of avocado, smoked fillet, tomato, and salt. With this sandwich, we didn’t even have to knock it out of trees – they were just rolling around outside of Medali.

How to evolve Applin into Dipplin

To evolve Applin into Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC, you need a special item called the Syrupy Apple. This item can be purchased for 500 Poké Dollars at a vendor stand located in the southeast corner of Kitakami, near a small orchard and a shed. Once you have the Syrupy Apple, simply use it on Applin in your party, and it will evolve into Dipplin, a new Grass/Dragon-type evolution introduced in the DLC. Applin can be found in apple orchards around Kitakami, including a rare Tera Applin in the Apple Hills area.

Just like Applin’s other evolution options, Flapple and Appletun, you need a special item to evolve Applin into Dipplin: a Syrupy Apple.

You can find a Syrupy Apple in the southeast corner of Kitakami, called the Mossfell Confluence, as marked below. You can buy as many as you like from a fruit stand for $500 each.

Once you have the item, you can use it from your inventory to evolve Applin, the same way you would evolve a Pokémon using an evolution stone.

How does a Syrupy Apple unlock Dipplin’s evolution in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC, evolving Applin into Dipplin requires a special item called the Syrupy Apple. Once you have caught an Applin and have the Syrupy Apple in your bag, simply select the Syrupy Apple from the “Other Items” pocket and use it on Applin while it is in your party. This triggers Applin’s evolution into Dipplin, a unique Grass/Dragon-type Pokémon introduced in the DLC.

The Syrupy Apple can be purchased for 500 Pokédollars at an abandoned apple grove stand located in the southeastern corner of Kitakami, specifically in the Mossfell Confluence area. This item acts like an evolution stone, unlocking Applin’s new form when used.

Why does the Syrupy Apple specifically trigger Applin’s evolution into Dipplin

The Syrupy Apple specifically triggers Applin’s evolution into Dipplin because it acts as a unique evolution item tied to this new form introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC. Just as Applin evolves into Flapple or Appletun when exposed to the Tart Apple or Sweet Apple respectively, the Syrupy Apple is the distinct item that unlocks the candy apple-themed evolution into Dipplin. This special apple is found in the Mossfell Confluence area of Kitakami and, when used directly on Applin in the player’s party, initiates the evolution process. The Syrupy Apple’s unique syrupy characteristic thematically fits Dipplin’s candy apple design, making it the key to this evolution.
