Gliding to the Temple of Time takes more than just jumping off a cliff – timing, altitude, and wing control decide whether you soar across the sky or plummet into the clouds below.
Using it to get to the Temple of Time is arguably one of Tears of the Kingdom‘s first stumpers. Here’s how to use the wing to reach the Temple of Time in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
How to use a wing to glide in Tears of the Kingdom
Position the wing on the sloped rails with Ultrahand, then step onto its center to launch forward and gain altitude as gravity pulls it downhill. Walk slowly left or right to bank and steer the direction precisely, while shifting forward dives to build speed or backward lifts the nose for ascent. Maintain balance near the middle for straight flight, and time landings carefully to avoid fall damage unless splashing into water.โ
Tears of the Kingdom‘s wing works mostly like a glider. Walking forward on its body will tilt the nose forward, causing you to dive and gain speed. Walking backward does the opposite, leveling the wing out and reducing your speed. Moving to either left or right corner of the wing will cause it bank in that respective direction; it will bank sharper the closer to the edge Link stands.
How to use the wing to get to the Temple of Time
Use the Zonai wing glider by placing it on a launch rail or flat surface, then activate it with a fan, rocket, or by running off a high platform. Balance Link near the center to keep the wing stable as it glides through the air. To reach the Temple of Time, launch from a nearby Sky Island facing its direction, adjusting your speed and altitude with fans if needed. Watch your stamina and distance, as wings disappear after a while, so plan your flight path carefully to reach the temple safely.
The “proper” method is to use your Ultrahand ability and slot the wing into the rails you see to your left. You can then hop on and ride it off the ramp; simply standing on it will cause it to go, at which point you can glide the rest of the way to the Temple of Time on the far side of the Great Sky Island.

Keep in mind, though, that you’ll need to leap off the wing at the right time so you land into the pond by the Temple of Time. Otherwise, you’ll… Well, there’s still fall damage in Tears of the Kingdom, but not if a body of water breaks your fall. May your aim be true.
How to use Recall on the wing to reach the Temple of Time
Use Recall on the wing just before it begins to fall, reversing its motion so it glides back upward toward the Temple of Time. Stand near the center to maintain balance, and steer carefully by shifting your weight or using the controls to guide the wing in the right direction. Be mindful of its limited duration-plan your ascent timing so you can glide or jump off once you’re close enough to reach the temple’s platform safely.
The secondary method – and the way more interesting one, if you’re of the mindset that prodding at Tears of the Kingdom‘s infinite possibilities is kind of the whole point – is to use Recall. (This trick has also gained serious momentum on social media; to wit, one viral TikTok from user MaxMagnos has accrued more than 120,000 likes as of this writing.)
First, pick up the wing using Ultrahand. Move it off the ledge, but don’t let go.

While still holding the wing with Ultrahand, move it back on the ledge. You can let go now.

Next, jump onto the wing, then use Recall, reversing its trajectory so it launches into the air. While it’s in midair, use Recall again to “cancel” it in its path.
Best launch spots to reach the Temple of Time from Great Sky Island
The best launch spot to reach the Temple of Time from Great Sky Island using the Wing glider is immediately outside the Gutanbac Shrine (the fourth shrine), where sloped ruins feature recessed rails for easy takeoff.โ
Primary Launch Spot
Exit the Gutanbac Shrine cave and locate the Zonai Wing near the downward-sloping runway to the left of the ruins. Place the Wing on the rail with Ultrahand, hop on, and let it auto-launch-stand centered to glide straight toward the pond by the Temple steps. Jump into the water upon arrival to negate fall damage.โโ
Alternative Spots
From the snowy area southeast of Gutanbac Shrine, walk down beside the waterfall (sticking to the right shore to avoid cold damage) and scout for another Wing or improvised glider nearby, though the rail spot remains superior for distance. Nachoyah Shrine (earlier in progression) has a similar runway, but it’s farther-teleport back if needed and aim for the Temple’s lake. Without rails, use Recall on a dropped Wing from any cliff edge overlooking the Temple for a controlled launch.โ
Which Skyview Tower gives the best glide angle to Temple of Time
Lookout Landing Skyview Tower provides the most practical launch height and proximity for gliding toward the Temple of Time (Sky) on Great Sky Island, though no mainland tower offers a direct line-of-sight glide angle due to the skyward distance.โ
Optimal Tower Choice
Lookout Landing Skyview Tower launches Link from coordinates around -293, 137, 25 to a peak height of about 1167m, positioning you centrally above Hyrule Field for an initial high-altitude glide that can be extended with elixirs or Zonai devices toward the Great Sky Island’s general direction. This tower’s central location minimizes horizontal drift compared to distant options like Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower (peak 2222m at 343, 3133, 180), which excels in raw height but requires precise wind management over vast forest terrain.โ
Glide Strategy
From Lookout Landing’s apex, deploy the paraglider immediately, consume stamina elixirs for extended airtime (aiming for 20+ minutes), and incorporate a Zonai Wing mid-flight via Recall for boosted distance-target the pond near the Temple steps. Hyrule Field Skyview Tower (-753, -1019, 64; 1207m peak) serves as a close secondary for slightly southern approaches, but Lookout Landing’s balanced elevation-to-distance ratio yields the best controlled angle. Avoid low-height towers like Popla Foothills (941m peak) as they demand excessive stamina.โ
