It would’ve been great enough just to remake the console itself, with its intricate wood and plastic paneling, switchboard, and joystick. But Lego went even further for this set, throwing in three diorama scenes in honor of the classic games Adventure, Asteroids, and Centipede – each of which is also represented as a replica cartridge. There’s also a “hidden” diorama within the console itself that channels a 1980s living room. The attention to detail here is phenomenal, and makes for a great display.

All that’s missing is a Lego CRT screen – which actually does exist, albeit as part of the Lego NES set (not currently on sale, alas). And if you’re looking for a working Atari, may we suggest the Atari 2600 or upcomingAtari 7800 , both of which are HDMI-ready and can play existing cartridges.
How does this LEGO Atari 2600 set compare to the original in detail and size
The LEGO Atari 2600 set is an impressively detailed 1:1 scale replica of the original 1980s console, measuring approximately 8 cm (3 in) high, 33 cm (13 in) wide, and 22 cm (8.5 in) deep, closely matching the real Atari 2600’s dimensions of about 8.9 cm high, 34.6 cm wide, and 23.2 cm deep. It faithfully recreates key features such as the joystick, authentic replica cartridges with distinctive artwork, and a cartridge storage system, all designed to evoke the original’s look and feel. The LEGO model even includes a hidden 1980s diorama inside the console, adding a nostalgic scene that the original obviously lacks. While the LEGO set cannot function as a real gaming console, its scale, design accuracy, and intricate details make it a highly realistic and collectible display piece that could easily be mistaken for the actual Atari 2600 at a glance. The main differences lie in the LEGO construction and some minor scale variations in the cartridges, but overall the set achieves remarkable fidelity to the original console in both size and detail.
How accurate is the LEGO Atari 2600 in size compared to the real console
The LEGO Atari 2600 set is remarkably accurate in size compared to the original console, measuring about 33 cm (13 in) wide, 8.3 cm (3.3 in) high, and closely matching the real Atari 2600’s dimensions of roughly 34.6 cm wide and 8.9 cm high. It is described as almost exactly life-size, with only very minor differences such as being slightly shorter and narrower by about a percent or two, which is hardly noticeable at a glance. This near 1:1 scale fidelity makes the LEGO model so convincing that it could easily be mistaken for the genuine Atari 2600 console in side-by-side comparisons.
