Monster Hunter Wilds shows you early on how to call and ride your Seikret. However, the mount has several other practical uses in the game that you either learn about later or aren’t explicitly told about ever. Below, we’ve rounded up a variety of seikrets tips that will help you take full advantage of your Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Seikrets can auto move to any icon on the map

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Seikrets can automatically move to any icon on the map using their autopilot feature. By opening the map and selecting a specific icon-such as a monster or resource location-you can set a waypoint, and your Seikret will dash directly to that spot without manual input. This auto-navigation leverages the Seikret’s keen sense of smell to guide you efficiently across the terrain, making it easier to locate quest objectives and resources quickly. You can toggle this auto-move on or off at any time, allowing for seamless travel and freeing you to focus on other tasks or combat preparations while your mount handles the navigation.

Seikrets have an auto move feature where your mount will run to a specific point for a quest. Sometimes, the game uses this feature automatically for certain quests and assignments, but you can use it at any point to go to any icon on a map. This is by far the easiest way to find various resources in Monster Hunter Wilds.

To use it, open the map and use the map cursor to highlight any icon on the map, like a particular monster or resource. Once you do so, press in on the right thumbstick to “Set Waypoint” on the map. Once you close the map, your Seikret will automatically run to that point.

Seikrets can be actually useful in a fight

Seikrets prove to be genuinely useful in combat by allowing hunters to perform mounted attacks using slingers and ranged weapons like Heavy Bowguns while riding them. They enable seamless weapon swapping mid-fight, letting players adapt to different monster weaknesses without dismounting. Additionally, executing dismount attacks from the Seikret can create openings to mount monsters or engage in close combat, providing a tactical edge in battles against tough foes. Their ability to quickly lift hunters to safe spots for healing or sharpening also adds a valuable layer of survivability during intense fights.

Sometimes an injured monster will run away and you’ll have to chase it. Riding your Seikret is the easiest way to pursue it, but your trusty mount can aid you in several other ways while hunting.

If you are struggling with a particular fight, your Seikret can scoop you up and take you to a safe spot quickly. This is helpful if you need to use your Whetstone or heal, but I also used my Seikret to take a breather during certain fights and evaluate the attack pattern of the monster.

Additionally, I found the dismount attacks you use by jumping off the Seikret to be incredibly helpful in fights (like against Doshaguma or Rathalos). As a sword and shield user, dismount attacks were an easy way to either get some damage in and get up close to a monster, or jump high enough to mount it and attack it that way.

Seikrets can store additional equipment

The Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds offers valuable additional storage capabilities that enhance your hunting efficiency. It features a holster for storing a secondary weapon, allowing you to switch weapons mid-hunt to adapt to different monster weaknesses or combat scenarios. Additionally, the Seikret has a pouch that automatically stores quest items and supply restocks, which you can access anytime while mounted by pressing the designated button or key. This extra storage frees up your inventory space and lets you manage your gear and items more effectively during hunts, making the Seikret an indispensable companion beyond just transportation.

Your Seikret can store an extra set of equipment so you can change weapons during a fight. This is great for tougher hunts, like Rey Dau, because it means you can come prepared with a couple of weapons suited to exploit the weaknesses of a particular monster – and that you can really make the most of the best weapon combos.

You can customize your Seikret

You can customize your Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds by accessing the Appearance Menu at your character’s tent in any Base Camp. This customization allows you to change various aesthetic features such as skin color, inner and outer feather colors, pattern thickness and color, eye colors (including individual eyes), decoration type, pendant type, and even the Seikret’s name. To unlock full customization options, you need to progress through the story until you defeat the Alpha Doshaguma and complete the quest in Kunafa, Windsong Village, where you can then speak to Nona to access expanded customization features. Decorations and pendants, some of which are

Similar to how you can customize the appearance of your hunter and Palico, you can also edit the look of your Seikret. You can edit your Seikret after you fully unlock Junafa, Windsong Village and talk to Nona. After you do that, you can go to your tent to edit the color scheme and other parts of your Seikret.

What hidden abilities make the Seikret your ultimate hunt sidekick in Wilds

The Seikret in Monster Hunter Wilds boasts several hidden abilities that elevate it to the ultimate hunt sidekick. It can store an extra set of equipment, allowing you to switch weapons mid-fight, which is invaluable for adapting to tough monsters like Rey Dau. The Seikret also features an autopilot mode that lets it dash automatically to any selected map icon, streamlining resource gathering and monster tracking. In combat, it can quickly lift you to safe spots for healing or sharpening, and dismount attacks from the Seikret provide powerful offensive options, including mounting monsters for follow-up strikes. Additionally, you can customize your Seikret’s appearance extensively, from feather patterns to eye color, enhancing your personal connection and style on the hunt. Finally, advanced control settings allow you to tailor the Seikret’s movement responsiveness, balancing between auto-navigation and manual control for smoother exploration and combat maneuvering.

How does Seikret’s autopilot mode improve my hunting efficiency in Wilds

Seikret’s autopilot mode in Monster Hunter Wilds significantly improves hunting efficiency by automatically navigating your mount along the optimal path to your selected quest objective or map marker, allowing you to rest your left thumb during long treks and focus on other tasks like aiming your slinger or ranged weapon while riding. This feature helps bypass complex terrain and obstacles without manual input, speeding up travel across the vast Forbidden Lands and reducing downtime between encounters. Additionally, the autopilot can be toggled on or off, and you can switch between two control types-Type 1 for automatic speed maintenance and Type 2 for more precise manual control-giving you flexibility depending on your preferred playstyle. Overall, autopilot streamlines exploration and lets you conserve stamina and attention for the hunt itself.
