Pokémon Go ’Deep Depths’ event Timed Research and rewards
During the Pokémon Go ‘Deep Depths’ event, players can access both free and premium Timed Research tasks. The free Timed Research offers rewards such as 10 Kubfu Candy, a Mysterious Component to help track down Team GO Rocket leaders, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon, plus double Stardust for catching Pokémon after all research tasks are completed. For US$2.00, premium Timed Research grants two Super Incubators, a Star Piece, and additional encounters with Clauncher and Nickit, providing extra opportunities to catch these spotlight species and collect valuable items.
As usual with these types of events, there’s both a paid and free research, with the same name.
Is the paid “Deep Depths” Timed Research worth buying? Yes, the two Super Incubators you get as a reward make it worth it the $2 price tag alone. If you are really burning for a Nickit and you don’t want to deal with eggs or trying your luck with it spawning, this is also a guaranteed way to get one. Just make sure to finish the research before the event ends on March 24 at 8 p.m. (in your local time) or else you won’t get the value from the research.

Pokémon Go ’Deep Depths’ event Field Research and rewards
During the Pokémon Go ’Deep Depths’ event, players can complete a variety of Field Research tasks and unlock special rewards. Event-themed Field Research tasks are available by spinning PokéStops, with objectives such as catching Water- or Dark-type Pokémon, hatching Eggs, and defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts. Completing these tasks can reward you with encounters featuring event Pokémon like Clauncher, Carvanha, Alolan Meowth, and Nickit-many of which have shiny variants available.
The event also features both free and paid Timed Research. Free Timed Research includes steps like catching Water- and Dark-type Pokémon, spinning PokéStops, and walking certain distances, with rewards such as Rare Candy, Kubfu Candy, Stardust, XP, and additional Pokémon encounters. Paid Timed Research, available for $2.00, grants extra tasks and premium rewards like Super Incubators, Star Pieces, and more encounters with Clauncher and Nickit. Completing all Timed Research steps unlocks a double Stardust bonus for catching Pokémon for the rest of the event.
Additionally, two Collection Challenges-“Sea-volution” and “In the Nickit of Time”-require catching and evolving specific event Pokémon for further rewards, including XP, Stardust, and featured Pokémon encounters. All research tasks and rewards must be completed and claimed before the event ends.
Spinning a PokéStop during the event period may yield one of these tasks:
- Catch 5 dark-type Pokémon (Alolan Meowth or Carvanha encounter)

Pokémon Go ’Deep Depths’ event boosted spawns
During the Deep Depths event, Pokémon Go trainers will encounter a surge in Water- and Dark-type Pokémon spawns. Key boosted wild encounters include Murkrow, Sneasel, Corphish, Clamperl, Purrloin, female Frillish, Clauncher, and the event debut of Nickit, which can also be evolved into Thievul with 50 Nickit Candy. Notably, both Clauncher and Nickit will have increased shiny rates, with shiny Clauncher available for the first time. In addition to wild spawns, 7 km Eggs collected during the event may hatch Galarian Corsola, Pawniard, Clauncher, and Nickit, all with a chance to be shiny. These boosted appearances make the event an excellent opportunity for players to catch new and rare Pokémon, complete their Pokédex, and hunt for shinies.
These Pokémon will spawn more frequently during the event period:
- Murkrow
- Sneasel
- Corphish
- Clamperl
- Purrloin
- Frillish
- Clauncher*
- Nickit
*There is an “increased chance” of finding this shiny in the wild as part of the event.
Pokémon Go ’Deep Depths’ event egg hatches
During the Deep Depths event in Pokémon Go, 7 km Eggs have a special hatch pool featuring four Pokémon: Galarian Corsola, Pawniard, Clauncher, and the debuting Nickit. Notably, Clauncher hatched from these Eggs has an increased chance of being Shiny, making this event a prime opportunity for collectors seeking its rare variant. Additionally, the event bonus halves the distance required to hatch Eggs placed in incubators during the event, allowing players to hatch more Eggs with less walking effort. This combination of exclusive hatches and reduced hatch distance makes the Deep Depths event especially appealing for Trainers aiming to add new or Shiny Pokémon to their collections.

What rare Pokémon or shiny variants might I find during Deep Depths
During the Pokémon GO Deep Depths event, you can find several rare Pokémon and shiny variants with boosted encounter rates, especially among Water- and Dark-type species. The event notably features:
-
Shiny Clauncher: This is the star shiny of the event, with significantly increased shiny odds both in the wild and from 7km Eggs. Its shiny form swaps the usual blue for a striking deep orange, making it a highly sought-after variant.
-
Nickit and Thievul: Nickit debuts in Pokémon GO during this event and can be found in the wild and hatched from eggs. While Thievul does not appear in the wild, you can evolve Nickit into Thievul. Both are Dark-type Pokémon with shiny variants available.
-
Other featured Pokémon with shiny forms available include Murkrow, Sneasel, Corphish, Clamperl, Purrloin, and female Frillish. While their shiny odds are not boosted as Clauncher’s are, they appear more frequently in the wild during the event.
-
Galarian Corsola: Available in 7km Eggs with shiny variants, benefiting from the event’s egg hatch distance reduction.
This event provides an excellent opportunity to hunt for these rare and shiny Pokémon, with special research tasks and bonuses enhancing your chances.
