A mysterious creature spotted near Hyrule’s wetlands sends Princess Zelda and Link on a trail of whispers and footprints. “The Beast and The Princess” side adventure blends rumor, memory, and discovery in one of Tears of the Kingdom’s most atmospheric quests.
“The Beast and the Princess” is one of 12 parts of the “Potential Princess Sightings!” side adventures tied to Tears of the Kingdom‘s stables.
‘The Beast and the Princess’ quest steps
Link begins in the Snowfield Stable where Penn asks about a strange creature sighted nearby. After talking to Harlow, you’ll learn that a large animal has been visiting recently. Follow the marked path toward the Hebra Mountains and you’ll find CIMA, who reveals the “beast” is actually Princess Zelda gently caring for Dondon creatures. Speak with her to complete the investigation and return to Penn at the stable to finish the side adventure.
“The Beast and the Princess” is a side adventure within the “Potential Princess Sightings!” side adventure, and there’s some traveling involved. Here’s what you’ll do, in a TL;DR version:
- Meet Penn to start the “Potential Princess Sightings!” questline, first in Lookout Landing then outside Rito Village.
- Head to the New Serenne Stable to get a tip on Zelda’s whereabouts with some rumored beasts. (This is where “The Beast and the Princess” officially begins.)
- Finding the subtropical region in the south, which is in fact Lakeside Stable in Faron.
- Find Cima and the beasts in Faron nearby, and talking to them to complete the quest.

How to start the ‘The Beast and the Princess’ quest
You can begin this side adventure by visiting the Riverside Stable, southwest of Lookout Landing. Speak with Penn near the stable, who will tell you about a rumor involving a beautiful woman seen with a mysterious beast. After hearing the details, the quest “The Beast and the Princess” will be added to your Adventure Log, setting you on a path to uncover the truth behind the story.
“The Beast and the Princess” is one of several parts of the “Potential Princess Sightings!” side adventure, and a side adventure in its own right. To begin, you must have already started the “Potential Princess Sightings!” side adventure.

The first step there is to talk to Penn outside the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower before heading to meet him at the Lucky Clover Gazette building outside Rito Village. We’ve marked it with a star below.

The paper’s editor-in-chief will send you two out to all 12 stables to seek out information on Princess Zelda’s whereabouts. You do can these in any order, and each stable will kick off its own little story. “The Beast and the Princess” is one of those, and you need to speak to Penn at New Serenne Stable in Hyrule Field to start it. (The closest shrine is the Sinajawak Shrine.)
Where to find the subtropical region in the south
You can reach the subtropical region in the south by traveling to Faron. This area lies past the hills beyond Lake Hylia and stretches through the lush jungles leading to Lurelin Village. The path can be tricky with monsters and steep routes, so keep stamina meals and climbing gear ready. Once there, check the stables and nearby settlements to progress through the quest and gather clues about the mysterious beast mentioned in the story.
Penn will be waiting by the stable’s front desk. He’ll tell you the folks around have seen the beast in a subtropical region in the south.
This alludes to Faron – specifically, Lakeside Stable. You will find it at the following point on the map:

Know that, unlike most stables, from a distance it cannot be spotted easily, and from the map, the road it’s next to is obscured. That said, if you travel in from the west, once you enter the forested area head towards the direction of Floria Falls / Lurelin Village, and keep going on that road, and you will come across the stable soon after.

The closest shrine is the Joju-u-u Shrine, just outside the stable.
Where to find the rumored beast
You can begin the search for the mysterious creature in the Highland Stable, located in the Faron Grasslands region. Speak with Penn outside the stable to hear rumors about a strange beast seen nearby. Follow the hints he provides and head southwest toward the forested cliffs near Lake Hylia, where traces of large footprints and broken branches can guide you closer to the creature’s hiding place.
From the stable, to the north is a chasm. It’s just across from here you’ll find the person you need to speak to. To help, visit Shay just by the cliff edge, who will point you in the direction of the sanctuary opposite.

The easiest way to get there is to follow the cliff edge west, paraglide across the short gap, then approach the sanctuary. Once there, talk to Cima, and the quest will be complete.

‘The Beast and the Princess’ reward
Completing “The Beast and the Princess” side adventure rewards you with a Heartwarming Fabric for your paraglider. This special design features a charming pattern inspired by the bond between Cottla and the mysterious beast, serving as a fitting memento of their heartfelt story.
For completing the side adventure within a side adventure, you get 50 rupees. Not bad, considering the Lucky Clover Gazette EIC wished she could ask you to work for free. Look, that’s media for you!
