Toto Lake location in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom for The Broken Slate quest

Guides

Toto Lake hides high above Zora’s Domain, a quiet spot tied to “The Broken Slate” quest that many players miss while scanning the peaks and waterfalls. Here’s where to find it and how to piece together the clues that reveal its ancient secret.

Where to find the Toto Lake location

Toto Lake sits north of Zora’s Domain in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, northwest of Ploymus Mountain at coordinates (3406, 0882, 0400). From Zora’s Domain, equip Zora Armor to swim up the northern waterfall directly to the lake, or fast travel to Ihen-a Shrine atop Ploymus Mountain and glide down to its position behind the shrine. Sidon points players there during “The Broken Slate” quest to meet Jiahto in a cave by the water.

As part of “The Broken Slate” quest, Sidon will chat with you a bit about how he’s purifying the water, so he can’t head out with you. He will direct you to Toto Lake in the west.

Toto Lake is located just north of Zora’s Domain, with Jiahto found at co-ordinates (3406, 0882, 0400).

The easiest way to reach Toto Lake is from Upland Zorana tower to the west. Once activated (you need the Zora Armor equipped) you can glide down to Toto Lake.

If you are struggling to find the location on the ground, look out for Dunma by the water, who can point you in the right direction.

Once at Toto Lake, talk toJiahto in the small cavern and he’ll complain how this ancient slate is broken and how he wishes he could read it properly. Head outside of the cave and to the left to see the slate on the side of the cave, covered in mud.

Use a splash fruit to wash away the mud, pick it up with Ultrahand and place it into the slot to complete the quest. Jiahto will start rattling off a mysterious puzzle, talking about a bridge to the sky, marks of the king, and other suspiciously highlighted chunks of text, such as a droplet.

Fast travel points nearest Toto Lake

Ihen-a Shrine stands as the closest fast travel point to Toto Lake, perched atop Ploymus Mountain near Mipha’s Grove. From there, glide down the mountain’s back toward the lake’s position northwest of Zora’s Domain.

Other Nearby Options

Upland Zorana Skyview Tower offers a solid alternative; activate it to launch skyward, then glide southeast to the lake [conversation_history]. Zora’s Domain itself lacks a shrine but serves as a hub-equip Zora Armor to swim up the northern waterfall directly to Toto Lake from there. These spots minimize travel time during “The Broken Slate” quest.

Best shrine or tower to fast travel near Toto Lake

Ihen-a Shrine serves as the best fast travel point near Toto Lake, located directly atop Ploymus Mountain overlooking the area. It’s ideal for quick access during “The Broken Slate” quest, allowing a short glide down the mountain’s back to the lake at coordinates around (3406, 0882, 0400) [conversation_history].

Why It’s Best

This shrine sits highest and closest, minimizing glide distance compared to others like Jonsau Shrine further east. Players report it as the go-to spot for repeated visits amid Zora storyline sludge cleanup. Activate it early after reaching Mipha’s Grove for seamless travel.

Solid Alternative

Upland Zorana Skyview Tower ranks second; launch from there and glide southeast to the lake in under a minute [conversation_history]. Use it if the shrine remains unactivated, though the tower’s height demands more stamina management.
