EA Motive’s Dead Space remake conceals a secret sea shanty, a rare text log, and a stash of free upgrade nodes, but uncovering them takes more than brute force. Here’s how fans cracked the code behind one of the game’s cleverest Easter eggs.
Head to the Bridge>Break Room
Head to the Bridge, then make your way toward the Break Room on the USG Ishimura. Inside, you’ll find a text log on a nearby table with cryptic clues referencing a hidden audio trigger. Interact with the crew deck monitors in the correct sequence outlined in the log, and the secret sea shanty will begin to play while free nodes appear nearby as your reward.
You have to input the cheat code for both the Easter egg and the free nodes in the same room. You can’t get to it until Chapter 4 “Obliteration Imminent,” though. Once you dispatch the Brute necromorph in the Main Atrium on the Bridge, you’ll unlock the elevators there. The elevator closest to where the Brute appeared will take you down to Floor 1 as part of the Reroute Power from Electrical Systems objective (but you can return here at any time).
When you exit the elevator, follow the hall until you come to the Break Room – it’s the first door on your right. The Break Room has a circle painted (we hope it’s paint) on the floor and there’s a video playing of the Marker from Aegis VII.
Do a little dance
The game hides a quirky reward for players who input the correct zero-gravity movements in the Crew Quarters’ break room. By moving Isaac through a specific pattern, you’ll trigger a fun secret-an audio track of the crew singing a sea shanty, paired with a text log and several free upgrade nodes floating nearby. It’s a lighthearted moment amid the horror, showing that Motive tucked a touch of humor into the remake’s bleak corridors.
Stand in the center of the circle. You’re going to be doing a series of melee strikes (R1) and stomps (R2). To keep Isaac in the circle as you punch and kick, you’ll have to move him back slightly between each – he steps forward a little with every attack.
