Hidden deep within Wo Long’s eerie landscapes, the Hidden Village keys are easy to miss but hold the path to powerful secrets. Here’s where each one lies-and how to claim them before your enemies do.
Speak with the Hermit of Tianzhu woman
After obtaining the first Hidden Village key, travel to Tianzhu and locate the Hermit of Tianzhu woman near the bamboo grove outside the main battlefield area. Speak with her to learn more about the whereabouts of the remaining keys. She provides clues that point toward hidden areas connected to earlier missions, guiding you toward the next stage of collecting all the village keys.
When you reach the Hidden Village, head to the right. Go past the blacksmith, and continue around counterclockwise. The next floating island you come to will have the woman (and her house) that you’re looking for.
Speak to her, after which you’ll be able to go find her keys. Both keys are in Main Battlefields – main story missions – a little later in the game.
Find the Taoist House Key
The Taoist House Key can be found inside the Hidden Village after completing early story missions. Head to the area near Zhu Xia’s forge and check the small residence behind her workshop. Inside, examine a chest on the floor to obtain the key. This item opens the locked Taoist’s Dwelling, granting access to additional loot and a few hidden NPC interactions.
You’ll find the first key – the Taoist House Key – in the very next mission. Toward the end of Part 3’s “In Search of the Immortal Wizard” – just before you reach the infuriating Aoye boss fight – you’ll take on a stubby crocodile called a Zhupolong.
Once it’s defeated, there’s a Battle Flag for you to catch your breath. From there, you’ll head up a tunnel through the mountain. Not far along, watch on the left side for a glowing item. That’s the Taoist House Key.
Take it back to the Hidden Village, and the woman will inform you that she also lost her Backyard Key.
Find the Backyard Key
The backyard key is located behind the main house in the Hidden Village area. Head toward the garden section and inspect the small storage shed beside the bamboo fence. A defeated soldier’s body near the entrance holds the key. Collect it to access the locked gate behind the residence, which leads to a hidden stash of upgrade materials.
The second key’s location can be found much later in the Part 5 mission, “War’s Flames Blaze Fiercely.” Late in the mission, you’ll head into the sewers through a dragon statue’s mouth. Deal with the Shuigui (mermaid-ish) demons you run into and then head into the first room on the left. You’ll find the Backyard Key there.
What rewards are in the three locked chests in Hidden Village
The three locked chests in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s Hidden Village backyard offer valuable early-game progression items, obtained after trading with the Hermit Taoist for keys (Fire Pot, Anti-Freeze Soil, Mystic Crane).
Left Chest Rewards
This chest contains Qi-focused loot: 1x Large Genuine Qi Crystal, 2x Small Genuine Qi Crystal, and 5x Genuine Qi Fragment. These boost your Genuine Qi rank significantly.
Middle Chest Rewards
Expect crafting materials: 2x Rank 7 Steel, 2x Rank 7 Leather, 1x Rank 8 Steel, and 1x Rank 8 Leather. Use these at the blacksmith for weapon/armor upgrades.
Right Chest Rewards
This one varies slightly but typically yields gear: 1x 4-star weapon or armor piece (e.g., polearm or footwear), 1x Throwing Knife, 2x Rank 7 Leather, and 2x Rank 7 Steel.
Where to find Fire Pot Anti-Freeze Soil and Mystic Crane
Fire Pot, Anti-Freeze Soil, and Mystic Crane are common consumable items in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, obtained from the village elder Zuo Ci in the Hidden Village.
Obtaining the Items
Trade with Zuo Ci, located near the center of the Hidden Village (follow the path past the blacksmith). Exhaust his dialogue and purchase each item directly from his inventory for a small amount of copper-one of each is needed. These are available early after unlocking the village, post-Mission 1.
Trading for Keys
Return to the Hermit Taoist in her backyard (after using both house keys). Hand over one Fire Pot for the first chest key, one Anti-Freeze Soil for the second, and one Mystic Crane for the third. She provides them one at a time upon each trade.
