Plunge into the flooded domain of Zora’s Domain, where Prince Sidon summons Link to face a deadly threat poisoning the waters.
For those familiar with the original, you’ll know this to be the home of Sidon and the other Zora people. Once you arrive and start the “Sidon of the Zora” quest, it’ll then encompass many objectives – including “The Broken Slate”, “Clues to the Sky” and “Land of the Sky Fish”.
After those, we have guides on how to complete the Ancient Zora Waterworks, Wellspring Island, and the Water Temple separately, since those are their own beasts, bringing the Zora region’s main questline to completion.
How to reach Zora’s Domain and starting the ‘Sidon of Zora’ quest
Travel to the Lanayru region and make your way toward Zora’s Domain, located northeast of Central Hyrule. You can follow the main road from the Lanayru Wetlands or glide in from the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower for a faster route. Upon entering the Domain, speak with the Zora guards near the center plaza to learn that Prince Sidon needs assistance. Head to the throne room and talk to Sidon to officially begin the “Sidon of the Zora” quest.
There isn’t a specific way to get to Zora’s Domain this time around, as you can trek up the mountains, take the paths up alongside the lanterns, or glide in (if you have any Skyview Towers nearby unlocked).
The one overlooking Zora’s Domain is Upland Zorana Tower is closest, though cannot be completed until you have an armor piece from this quest. That said, it can offer a useful reference point:

How to start the Sidon of Zora quest
You can begin the Sidon of the Zora quest after completing the main objective that directs you to Zora’s Domain. Once there, speak with the guard near the domain entrance to learn that Prince Sidon has been investigating strange sludge polluting the water. Follow the bridge leading southeast to the Mipha Court, where you’ll find Sidon. Talking to him will officially start the quest and open the next set of tasks focused on helping the Zora restore their waters.
Once you get to Zora’s Domain, talk to the marked stingray-head Zora below:

She’ll lament the muddy statue in front of her, so use a splash fruit to wash the mud off the statue. This will both instantly complete “The Sludge-Covered Statue” and start the “Sidon of the Zora” quest.
Helping Yona repair the armor and finding Sidon
Head to the Skyview Tower south of Zora’s Domain to spot Yona near the waterfalls. Speak with her to trigger the repair task, then gather five pieces of armor from nearby underwater Lizalfos camps using your Fuse ability on arrows for precise shots. Return the pieces to Yona at the domain’s crafting area, watching her fix the set. With the armor ready, swim upstream through the corrupted waters to Ploye’s marker and reunite with Sidon amid the sludge.
After introducing yourself to Sidon’s fiancé, Yona, she’ll tell you to meet her at the infirmary, if you have time, which you should definitely do. She’ll have your Zora Armor waiting, but first you’ll need to give her anancient arowana.
She notes that the blacksmith downstairs knows where to find one, but we recommend grabbing one from the ponds on the Great Sky Island (where you started off in the game). We found plenty in the small floating ponds north and east of Nachoya Shrine. Both of these are outlined in more detail on our ancient arowana locations page.

Once you have the Zora Armor, equip it and now you’ll swim up waterfalls. You can use this to easily access the Upland Zorana tower to the west, or head straight to Sidon in the north. Just swim up the waterfalls at Mikau Lake and Lulu Lake (east of Zora’s Domain) to end up at Mipha’s Court.
How to defeat Sludge Like boss in Sidon of the Zora quest
Sludge Like is a mid-boss in the “Sidon of the Zora” quest, fought at Mipha Court atop Ploymus Mountain after solving the Sky Fish puzzle.
Preparation
Clear surrounding sludge piles first, as they slow Link’s movement and increase vulnerability. Sidon provides his “Power of Water” ability during the fight, creating a protective water bubble-approach him and press A to activate it.
Attacks to Dodge
-
At range, it spits sludge projectiles.
-
Up close, it lunges to bite, potentially stealing your weapon.
-
Bait the bite by getting near, then dodge; this exposes its vulnerable uvula (purple core in mouth).
Damage Phase
With Sidon’s water bubble active, swing your melee weapon (Y button) toward the boss to launch a water wave-this washes off the protective sludge layer.
Rush in and attack the exposed uvula with melee strikes, arrows, or polearms/spears for reach until it stuns.
Repeat: reactivate bubble, wash sludge, bait bite, hit uvula, and attack until defeated (3-4 cycles typical).
Rewards and Next Steps
Victory yields a Royal Halberd (strong spear) from a chest in its remains. A cutscene plays; follow Sidon up the stairs, dive into the lake, and glide to him to unlock the Ancient Zora Waterworks path toward Wellspring Island.
What is the next boss after Sludge Like in Sidon of the Zora
Mucktorok is the next major boss after Sludge Like in the “Sidon of the Zora” quest, fought as the finale inside the Water Temple at Wellspring Island.
Path Overview
After defeating Sludge Like at Mipha Court, follow Sidon to East Reservoir Lake, dive into the vortex he creates, and enter the Ancient Zora Waterworks. Use Ultrahand on waterwheels and carts with fans to navigate platforms, then swim up waterfalls (with Zora Armor) to Wellspring Island. Clear sludge enemies en route using Sidon’s water bubble ability (approach him and press A).
Water Temple Progression
Solve four puzzles to activate faucets and raise water levels:
-
Clean sludge off bubble makers with Sidon’s water shots (Y button mid-air).
-
Rotate wheels with Ultrahand, shoot crystals with arrows, and move stone slabs.
This opens the central arena for the boss.
Defeating Mucktorok
Sidon joins permanently here, providing water bubbles on command.
-
Phase 1 (Sludge Shark): It dives underground and emerges covered in sludge. Dodge, activate bubble, shoot water (Y) to wash it off, then melee its stunned body (stab tail for safety).
-
Phase 2: It spits sludge orbs-slash them back with bubble shots. Wash off reformed sludge and repeat attacks.
-
Rinse (literally) and repeat 3-4 cycles; higher damage fusions speed it up.
Victory completes the quest, grants Sidon’s Sage Vow (water shielding in combat), and clears Zora’s Domain sludge.
