Similar to many recent new Pokémon in Pokémon Go, Rookidee cannot be found in the wild – but the good news is there are four ways to add one to your Pokédex.
How to get Rookidee in Pokémon Go
Rookidee was introduced to Pokémon Go during the Steeled Resolve event in January 2025 and is not found in the wild under normal gameplay. Players can obtain Rookidee by hatching 2km eggs collected during the event, using Magnetic Lure Modules at PokéStops, earning it as a reward in the Go Battle League, or completing the event’s premium Timed Research tasks. Hatching 2km eggs is accessible to all players, but the eggs must be collected after the event start to have a chance of containing Rookidee. Magnetic Lure Modules can be purchased or earned, attracting Rookidee along with other Pokémon. The premium research guarantees an encounter with Rookidee. Once caught, Rookidee can be evolved into Corvisquire and then Corviknight by collecting 25 and 100 Rookidee candies respectively, which can be accelerated by using Pinap Berries, walking with Rookidee as a buddy, or spending Rare Candy.
Making its first appearance in 2025’s “Steeled Resolve” event, on its debut, Rookidee can be found:
- By hatching 2km eggs
- Using a Magnetic Lure
- In Go Battle League rewards
- In the “Steeled Resolve” Premium Timed Research Ticket
The option that’s open to all players is hatching 2km eggs, which can found by spinning PokéStops (alongside 5km and 10km eggs – meaning there’s only a chance you may get the 2km variant).
Magnetic Lures can be purchased from the shop for 180 PokéCoins. That said, it’s been an uncommon reward across the game’s many activities and quests for a while now, and chances are you’ll already have one in your inventory – so check your item bag before you spend those PokéCoins.

Elsewhere, playing Go Battle League can see Rookidee as a possible encounter in as low as the rank 1 reward track, but like egg pools, it’s only a chance it’ll appear this way, making it likely one of the more time intensive options.
Ultimately, if you want a guaranteed Rookidee encounter, then purchasing the $5 Premium Timed Research Ticket for the “Steeled Resolve” event and completing the first step, “Power Up Pokémon 5 times” is the way to go – especially as Pokémon caught in research have an higher IV floor (meaning likely to have better stats) than most other encounters.
How to get Corvisquire and Corviknight in Pokémon Go
To get Corvisquire and Corviknight in Pokémon Go, you first need to catch Rookidee, which can be obtained through hatching 2km eggs, using Magnetic Lure Modules, winning battles in the Go Battle League, or completing premium Timed Research during events like Steeled Resolve. Once you have Rookidee, evolve it into Corvisquire by using 25 Rookidee Candy. Then, evolve Corvisquire into Corviknight by using 100 Rookidee Candy. To gather candy faster, use Pinap Berries, walk with Rookidee as your buddy (which requires only 1 km per candy), or use Rare Candy if available. Evolving Corvisquire into Corviknight during certain events can also grant special moves like Iron Head, beneficial for PvP battles.

To get Corisquire and Corviknight in Pokémon Go, you must evolve Rookidee with 25 then 100 candy.
With Rookidee being tricky to source, at least on its debut, making use of Pinap Berries and and having an active flying-type Mega Evolution to give you extra Rookidee candy is highly recommended. Don’t forget you can always earn candy by having Rookidee as your buddy Pokémon – it has just a 1km distance requirement while walking, making this a viable option – with the added bonus of showing it off to all your friends when you trade gifts back and forth.
And, remember you can always spend Rare Candy to get the required candy (125 total) to complete the evolution chain, though we’d always advice saving that for the hardest-to-find Pokémon, such as legendary or mythic Pokémon.
Can Rookidee be shiny in in Pokémon Go?
Rookidee currently cannot be shiny in Pokémon Go. Since its debut during the Steeled Resolve event, Niantic has not released a shiny version of Rookidee, Corvisquire, or Corviknight. This is consistent with the usual practice of introducing shiny variants of new Pokémon some time after their initial release. Players will have to wait for a future event or update to encounter shiny Rookidee in the game.
On its debut, Rookidee cannot be shiny in Pokémon Go. There’s no sign when we’ll see a shiny version, and based on previous shiny releases, it can be a while – usually years – before they happen.
What’s the easiest way for me to catch Rookidee during Steeled Resolve
The easiest way to catch Rookidee during the Steeled Resolve event in Pokémon Go is by focusing on hatching 2km eggs obtained during the event, as Rookidee is part of the Tier 1 egg pool and hatching yields more Rookidee Candy than catching it in the wild. Additionally, using Magnetic Lure Modules at PokéStops can spawn Rookidee, either by finding an active lure placed by another player or by deploying one yourself, though this method may require some investment. Another option is to win three battles in the Go Battle League during the event to earn a Rookidee encounter, which suits players who enjoy battling. For those willing to spend, the premium Timed Research during the event also offers a guaranteed Rookidee encounter after powering up Pokémon five times. Overall, hatching 2km eggs while continuously collecting new ones is generally considered the most accessible and passive method to catch Rookidee during Steeled Resolve.
Is hatching 2km eggs the fastest way to get Rookidee during Steeled Resolve
Hatching 2km eggs is generally considered the fastest and most accessible way to get Rookidee during the Steeled Resolve event in Pokémon Go. This method allows you to passively collect Rookidee as part of the event-exclusive 2km egg pool, which also includes Shieldon, Carbink, and Mareanie. Since Rookidee only appears in 2km eggs obtained during the event period, continuously acquiring and hatching these eggs maximizes your chances of encountering it. Additionally, hatching yields more Rookidee Candy than catching it in the wild, which is crucial for evolving it into Corvisquire and Corviknight. However, keep in mind that hatching does not guarantee a Rookidee every time, as the egg pool contains other Pokémon as well.
Other methods like using Magnetic Lure Modules, winning battles in the Go Battle League, or completing premium Timed Research can also yield Rookidee encounters but may require more active effort or spending. Therefore, for most players, focusing on hatching 2km eggs is the most efficient and straightforward approach during the event.
