How to unlock all machines in Kirby Air Riders

To unlock every machine in Kirby Air Riders, focus on steadily working through each mode’s specific challenges while also spending Miles in the in-game shop whenever new rides appear there. Many machines are tied to completing simple but targeted tasks in Air Ride, Road Trip, City Trial, and Top Ride, such as finishing races under certain time limits, defeating a set number of enemies, or performing particular feats like gliding or copying abilities. Keep an eye on the Checklist menu from the character select screen, since it tracks your progress and gives hints for any machines you are still missing, making it easier to plan which objectives to tackle next.ign+2

Below, we list the cost in miles that you can buy each machine for, as well as the checklist unlock methods you can use to get these vehicles. Note that some of the checkboxes require you to complete specific courses or Stadiums, which we’ve also listed in the respective box.

If you’re looking to find details about the legendary air ride machines, we’ve broken them into a separate section, not only because they work differently, but because there are some major story spoilers. Scroll down below the following table for more information about them.

How to unlock all legendary machines in Kirby Air Riders

Legendary machines in Kirby Air Riders are tied mainly to City Trial and long-term progression, so focus on clearing Road Trip, filling out Checklists, and hunting red boxes in City Trial to gather their machine parts. To unlock all of them, first aim to see the true ending in Road Trip mode and complete a high number of checklist objectives, then spend multiple City Trial matches actively searching for and breaking red boxes so you can assemble every legendary machine at least once.gam3s+1

So, legendary air ride machines have some quirks. You can’t race with them in the regular modes, only in the “free run” versions of the maps where you can time your laps. You can get them in City Trial, though you’ll need to find all three pieces of the respective machine to actually use it in that round.

There are two new legendary machines in Kirby Air Riders: Gigantes and Leo. Dragoon and Hydra (the machines that were in the original game) are available right away, but if you want the two new ones, you’ll need to play the Road Trip game mode:

  • For Gigantes, you’ll need to watch the normal ending in Road Trip, which just requires beating the game once normally.
  • For Leo, you’ll need to defeat the true final boss and fill in at least 140 checklist blocks for Road Trip.

Once you meet each of those requirements, the pieces for those legendary machines will start appearing in your City Trial runs.

Gigantes, given how huge the machine is, can’t be ridden in free run modes (at least we didn’t find a way to), but the rest of them can be unlocked for free run by completing the following checkboxes in City Trial:

Best order to unlock legendary machines fast

The fastest way to unlock Legendary Machines in Kirby Air Riders is to focus on City Trial runs, as all Legendary Machines require collecting three special parts found in red or rare boxes scattered around the map. Prioritize thorough exploration of the floating island areas in City Trial mode, as these often contain all three parts for one Legendary Machine, allowing instant assembly. Reset and repeat City Trial runs aiming for these boxes, as unlocking Legendary Machines is not permanent and requires parts collection every run.

Here is the recommended order and tips for efficient unlocking:

  • Prioritize Dragoon and Hydra first, as their parts tend to spawn more reliably and are fought often in challenges.

  • Target floating island spawns quickly using glides to reach the parts fast before others.

  • Focus on breaking red crates as they have a higher chance of dropping Legendary parts.

  • Use other modes to farm Miles and unlock regular machines meanwhile to improve your collection.

  • Keep checking the checklist menu to track progress and avoid redundant attempts.

Rotating through City Trial while focusing on parts collection in red and rare crates is the key to unlocking Legendary Machines faster than the usual random chance in other modes. This allows repeated targeted attempts at Legendary parts with patience and optimized route control for best results.

Which legendary needs the fewest City Trial parts

All Legendary Machines in Kirby Air Riders require three parts to be collected in City Trial mode, except for one notable exception. The legendary machine “Gigantes” is unique in that it requires 7 parts instead of the standard 3. Therefore, all other Legendary Machines-such as Dragoon, Hydra, and Leo-need only 3 parts each to be gathered from red boxes in City Trial for assembly and use during that run.

Thus, among Legendary Machines, none needs fewer than 3 parts, but Gigantes requires the most parts at 7. This makes the other Legendary Machines equally efficient in terms of the number of parts to collect in City Trial mode to unlock them temporarily.
