Ready to become a one-person army and redefine your combat style? Here’s how to unlock the Warfarer and unleash chaos on your foes.

In this Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock the Warfarer vocation and where to find Newt Liqueur you need to do so.

Where to find Newt Liqueur in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Newt Liqueur in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be found primarily in Bakbattahl, with several options for acquisition. Players can purchase it from Higg’s Tavern Stand in the Residential Ward for 5,000 gold per bottle, or from a merchant named Earland near the Residential Ward for 2,000 gold. It can also be found as loot in the Forbidden Magick Research Lab’s Laboratorium and on a table inside the Windwalker’s house near Volcanic Island, which players pass on the way to the Volcanic Base Camp. Alternatively, Newt Liqueur can be crafted by combining Fruit Wine and a Saurian Tail, though Fruit Wine is rare. Accessing the hidden shop at Higg’s Tavern Stand requires specific steps involving disguises and NPC interactions. Collecting three bottles of Newt Liqueur is necessary to complete the quest “The Sotted Sage” and unlock the Warfarer vocation by giving them to Lamond at the Volcanic Island Camp Hot Springs.

While you can make a beeline straight for the Warfarer teacher as soon as you reach Battahl, you won’t be able to unlock it without getting three bottles ofNewt Liqueur first. You can find them at Higg’s Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl for 5,000 gold per bottle.

Higg’s Tavern Stand is just north of the residential district, to the west of all the fields and pools. Outside the building, you might meet a grumpy beastren named Karnel. Ignore him for now.

If you’re playing as a human, equip the Beastren Mask (which you presumably acquired when making your way to Battahl) before you take the next step. If you don’t, you’ll get arrested.

Just to the left of the door to Higg’s, walk over to the small fence that has hay inside and two big sack bundles on the outside. Grab one of the sack bundles using your grapple button and carry it inside the fenced-in area. Drop it and Karnel will invite you inside Higg’s Tavern Stand.

Once you regain control of your character, talk to Ezekiel and purchase all the Newt Liqueur he has. After you collect the three bottles of Newt Liqueur, you can make your way to Agamen Volcanic Island and the Warfarer teacher.

The fastest way to get there is through the back way through Drabnir’s Grotto, in southwestern Battahl. (This is the same route you’ll take to unlock the Mystic Archer vocation, for what it’s worth.)

How to unlock the Warfarer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To unlock the Warfarer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to complete the side quest “The Sotted Sage,” which begins by speaking with Lamond at the Geyser Hamlet inside the Volcanic Island Camp on Agamen Volcanic Island. As part of the quest, you must collect three bottles of Newt Liqueur, which can be crafted, purchased, or found in specific locations. After handing over the Newt Liqueur to Lamond and completing the quest, the Warfarer vocation becomes available for purchase at any Vocation Guild for 300 Dcp. This vocation is unique because it allows you to equip and switch between any weapon type and use a combination of skills from all other vocations, making it highly versatile and powerful.

Once you exit Drabnir’s Grotto, follow the path east until you reach Agamen Volcanic Island. You’re looking for Lamond, the NPC who will teach you Warfarer, at the hot spring in the Volcanic Island Camp.

To get there, continue following the road east until you reach a small city that has a hot spring inside an elevated cave. Make your way to the small building where you can purchase a dip in the springs, and talk to that tattooed man sitting just outside: Lamond.

Lamond is a bit down on his luck, and would like to drown his sorrows with his favorite drink: Newt Liqueur. After talking to him, he’ll give you a quest: “The Sotted Sage.” For this quest, he’ll ask you for a few bottles of his favorite booze and promise to give you some. rotten soft-boiled eggs in exchange.

You’ll satisfy Lamond’s thirst if you give him three bottles of Newt Liqueur. Once you do, he’ll tell you his story and then give you the Warfarer vocation. But before you leave, make sure he gave you the Grandmaster’s Path skill scroll, as it’s the vocation’s ultimate skill and you’ll need it for the class to function properly. If he didn’t give it to you, just talk to him again and he should fork it over.

What secret steps are needed to unlock the Warfarer in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To unlock the Warfarer vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to complete the side quest called The Sotted Sage on Agamen Volcanic Island. The quest begins by speaking with Warfarer Maister Lamond at the entrance of the Geyser Hamlet inside the Volcano Island Camp on Agamen Island.

Here are the secret steps involved:

  • Find and speak to Lamond at the Volcano Island Camp’s Geyser Hamlet.

  • Collect three Newt Liqueurs, a rare item sold by Ezekiel in a secret shop above Higs Tavern in Bak Batal. To access this shop, you must wear a beast mask (purchased from wandering merchants or Ibrahim’s scrap store) and enter the fenced area next to the tavern as a beast, which triggers Ezekiel to appear and sell Newt Liqueur for 5,000 gold each.

  • Complete Lamond’s quest The Sotted Sage by handing over the three Newt Liqueurs.

  • After completing the quest and giving Lamond the Newt Liqueurs, he will unlock the Warfarer vocation for you and give you the Grandmaster’s Path skill scroll, which grants the Warfarer’s signature Rearmament ability.

This vocation allows you to wield any weapon and combine skills from all other vocations, making it a versatile and powerful class. Note that unlocking Warfarer is considered a late-game activity since it requires access to Agamen Volcanic Island and the desert continent Bak Batal to obtain the Newt Liqueur.

What hidden requirements are involved in unlocking the Warfarer quickly

To unlock the Warfarer vocation quickly in Dragon’s Dogma 2, there are several hidden requirements and shortcuts to keep in mind:

  • Access the desert continent Bak Batal early: You need to reach Bak Batal, which requires progressing the main story or using a secret, dangerous path through Guerco Caverns to enter the Beastren Kingdom early, ideally with a Beastren Mask to avoid arrest.

  • Obtain the Beastren Mask: This mask is essential to enter Bak Batal legally and to access certain restricted areas, including the secret shop selling Newt Liqueur.

  • Use the secret entrance to Higs Tavern Stand: At Bak Batal’s Higs Tavern Stand, you must wear the Beastren Mask and perform a specific action-pick up bags lying outside and place them inside a fenced pen-to get the attention of the grumpy NPC Carnell, who then lets you enter the hidden bar where Newt Liqueur is sold.

  • Purchase three bottles of Newt Liqueur: These rare items cost 5,000 gold each and are required to complete the quest The Sotted Sage given by Lamond at the Volcanic Island Camp on Agamen Island.

  • Complete the quest The Sotted Sage: Deliver the three Newt Liqueurs to Lamond to unlock the Warfarer vocation and receive the Grandmaster’s Path skill scroll.

By combining these steps-especially using the secret entrance to the tavern and acquiring the Beastren Mask-you can unlock Warfarer faster than the standard late-game progression allows.
