Kong Bananza: City Smash location in Donkey Kong Bananza
The Kong Bananza: City Smash challenge in Donkey Kong Bananza is located in Longneck Plateau Village, near the Getaway point and close to the Teeleport gong. To access the challenge, players must transform into the Kong Bananza form, which remains active throughout the level. The challenge involves destroying a building rapidly, focusing on glowing pillars to complete the task within specific time limits, which rewards two of the three Banandium Gems. The third gem is hidden underground beneath a central pillar and can only be collected after the building is fully destroyed.
The City Smash challenge portal is in Longneck Plateau Village, next to the Getaway location and near the Teeleport gong. You’ll need to transform into Kong Bananza form to enter it, but since you remain in that form for the challenge’s duration, you don’t have to worry about scooping up gold to keep the power going.
Before starting, we recommend you have at least the first level of DK’s Charge Punch and Fast Charge Kong Bananza skills unlocked.
How to get Kong Bananza City Smash’s Banandium Gems
To get Banandium Gems in Kong Bananza: City Smash in Donkey Kong Bananza, you need to complete specific objectives while playing as Kong Bananza. Two of the three Banandium Gems are earned by finishing the challenge within strict time limits-one for completing it in under 60 seconds and another for finishing with at least 20 seconds remaining. The third Gem is hidden beneath concrete in the building you smash, which becomes accessible only after completing the level. It’s recommended to unlock some Kong Bananza punch abilities to clear the concrete pillars effectively and move quickly through the challenge area located near Longneck Plateau Village.
City Smash is a bit different from most challenges in that two of its three Banandium Gems are rewarded for completing the trial within a certain amount of time – within 60 seconds to get one Banandium Gem and with 20 seconds on the clock to get the other. The third is tucked away under some concrete, but you have to complete the stage to get it.
The goal, which the fractone doesn’t outright tell you, isn’t just to destroy the building’s concrete pillars. You also need to smash through all its brick walls and columns. The only way to do that and still have 20 seconds or more on the clock is to use Kong Bananza’s charged punches every time you break something. The charged punch sends its initial target flying into something else, so punching one piece of concrete or a single brick wall turns into breaking even more things without having to wind up for another swing.
Work your way clockwise – that’s turning left at the start and then making right turns after that – on each floor, busting stuff as you go. At the end of the trail is a barrel cannon that takes you to the next floor, where you do it all again.
Once you reach the penultimate floor (not the roof, where there’s nothing worth your time), the cage surrounding the giant concrete pillar has one open side, next to a brick pillar. Charge a punch, smash the concrete, and you’ll clear the challenge. It might take a few tries to slide in with 20 seconds still on the clock, but you’ll eventually get the rhythm of charging and punching.
How to get the third Banandium Gem in Kong Bananza City Smash
To get the third Banandium Gem in Kong Bananza City Smash, you need to first complete the building destruction challenge. After the structure is fully destroyed, return to the central pillar area where you’ll find a soft patch of ground. Punch into this spot to dig beneath the surface, revealing a hidden dirt pile underneath which the third Banandium Gem is buried. This gem only becomes accessible after finishing the level, unlike the first two gems that are tied to timed objectives during the challenge.
The third Banandium Gem is only available after you’ve demolished the entire building and cleared the stage.
If you punched down through the final concrete pillar, you might’ve automatically collected the third Banandium Gem without having to do anything extra. If not, you’ll notice an inconspicuous dirt patch in the center of the foundation. Ground pound down through the dirt to grab the final banana.

How does strategic weapon use in City Smash enhance game skills
