How to evolve Charcadet in Pokemon Go and get Armarouge or Ceruledge

Guides

Charcadet has finally arrived in Pokémon GO, but evolving this fiery newcomer from Generation 9 isn’t as simple as feeding it candy. To transform Charcadet into the powerful Armarouge or Ceruledge, trainers must complete a unique challenge: battle and defeat 30 Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokémon while keeping Charcadet as their Buddy. This evolution quest adds a strategic twist to your gameplay, rewarding dedication with two distinct and formidable Fire-type evolutions.

How to evolve Charcadet in Pokémon Go

To evolve Charcadet in Pokémon GO, you must first set Charcadet as your Buddy Pokémon and collect 50 Charcadet Candy. Then, depending on the evolution you want, you need to defeat 30 specific-type Pokémon while Charcadet is your buddy: defeat 30 Psychic-type Pokémon to evolve Charcadet into Armarouge, or defeat 30 Ghost-type Pokémon to evolve it into Ceruledge. Charcadet does not need to participate in the battles; it only needs to be your buddy during the process. These battles can be completed in various ways, including raids, Team GO Rocket battles, the GO Battle League, or battles against friends. Tracking progress is possible by checking Charcadet’s status in your Pokémon storage.

Charcadet evolves into either Armarouge or Ceruledge, depending on what you do with it. Either way, the Charcadet you want to evolve will need to be set as your buddy. Once it is, do the following to evolve it:

  • To evolve Charcadet into Armarouge, defeat 30 psychic-type Pokémon in battle.
  • To evolve Charcadet into Ceruledge, defeat 30 ghost-type Pokémon in battle.

The Pokémon you battle can be from raids, Team Rocket grunts, the team leaders (like Blanche or Spark), your friends, or in the Go Battle League (PvP).

Note that you do not need to use that Charcadet to battle these Pokémon, they just need to be set as your buddy while you battle.

Once you fulfill the above requirements, you’ll be able to evolve your Charcadet using 50 Charcadet Candy.

In the game Charcadet made its debut in, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you needed specific items to evolve it into whichever version you wanted. Pokémon Go has largely stopped adding new evolution items (like the King’s Rock or Sun Stone) to the game, so it makes sense that it has a kind of interesting evolution method.

How can I unlock Charcadet’s evolution into Armarouge or Ceruledge in Pokémon Go

To unlock Charcadet’s evolution in Pokémon GO, you must first set Charcadet as your Buddy Pokémon and collect 50 Charcadet Candy. Then, to evolve it into Armarouge, defeat 30 Psychic-type Pokémon in battles while Charcadet is your buddy. Alternatively, to evolve Charcadet into Ceruledge, defeat 30 Ghost-type Pokémon under the same buddy condition. Importantly, Charcadet does not need to participate in the battles or land the final hit; it only needs to be your buddy during these victories. These battles can be against friends, in raids, the Go Battle League, or Team GO Rocket encounters. For example, defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts who specialize in Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokémon is an efficient way to meet these requirements. Once these conditions are met, you can evolve Charcadet into the desired form.
