The good news is that these items are mostly located within the city itself, unlike other collectibles, which require you to go outside of city limits and into the Wilderness. You can turn in Lost Books at the House of Wisdom in Abbasiyah. In the northern corner of the library, you’ll meet an NPC named Al-Jahiz who’s looking for these treatises.
We recommend grabbing the Lost Books in Harbiyah first, as that’s the first district you’ll go to in Baghdad. Follow those by getting the books in Abbasiyah, Karkh, and the Wilderness. Leave the tome in the Round City for last: It’s in an area you can only go to near the end of the campaign.

The entrance is barred, so players must climb up the wall to enter through an open window near a small tree. Inside, a puzzle involves destroying an explosive red pot with a Throwing Knife to unbar a door, granting access to the Lost Book. Book title: Al-Tabari: Tafsir of Al-Tabar
Head to the Nestorian Monastery in the northeastern corner of the Harbiyah district. Check the western side and you’ll find steps leading down to the cellar.

Once you’re down below, pull the three bookshelves out of their original spots. This will allow you to slide through a crawlspace. You’ll find this tome on a lectern in a small chamber.
Harbiyah Lost Book location #2
The Harbiyah Lost Book #2, titled “Kalila wa-Dimna,” is located in the Quadrangle of the Persians district within the Harbiyah region. It can be found in the same building as a Historical Site just southwest of the Great Mosque. To access the book, players need to climb up to an open window on the southwestern side of the building, then inside, throw a knife to detonate an explosive red pot that unbars a door. After re-entering through the now accessible door, the Lost Book is on the left-hand side of the room. Collecting it rewards the player with a Skill Point and a Scholar Favor Token.

Book Title: Kalila Wa-Dimma
You’ll find the Great Mosque in the southwestern corner of Harbiyah, fairly close to the border with the Abbasiyah district. Head southwest past the mosque and you’ll spot a two-story house with an open window.

Go inside, check downstairs, and blow up the exploding jar with a throwing knife, as seen in the photo above. This lets you access the back door on the ground floor.
Abbasiyah Lost Book location
The Abbasiyah Lost Book in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is titled “Al-Kwarizmi: Al-Jabr” and can be found near the House of Wisdom in the Yasiriyah district, located at the westernmost point of the city. Specifically, it is on the northern side of the river where it passes through the city wall, directly west of the Observatory Viewpoint. To obtain it, players must break down the front door of the building, enter, pull back a bookshelf to reveal a staircase, then head upstairs where the Lost Book lies on a table among scrolls. Collecting this book rewards a Skill Point and a Scholar Favor Token, and it can be returned to the Book Collector in the House of Wisdom for additional rewards.

Karkh Lost Book location
The Karkh Lost Book in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, titled “The Banu Musa: Book of Ingenious Devices,” is located in a building next to the Harbor Camp, a Restricted Area on the northern coast of Karkh in the Sharqiyah district. This building is situated at the mouth of the river west of the Harbor Camp and north-northeast of the district’s Viewpoint on Al-Me’dhana Al-’Ateeqa. To access the Lost Book on the second floor, players must approach the eastern side of the building, find a blue-curtained hiding spot, and climb onto a wooden platform. From there, use a Throwing Knife to unbar a window on the opposite side, then enter through that window to retrieve the book from a table filled with scrolls. Collecting this Lost Book rewards the player with a Skill Point and a Scholar Favor Token.

Location: Harbor Camp
Book Title: The Banu Musa: The Book of Ingenious Devices
The Harbor Camp is in the northeastern part of the Karkh district. The yard itself is a restricted area, but you can traverse the rooftops to avoid the guards.
Hop on a ledge on the second-floor exterior and use a Throwing Knife to destroy the wooden latch on the opposite door. This allows you to enter the room, which has this book.
Wilderness Lost Book location
The Wilderness Lost Book in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is located just outside the southern limits of Baghdad, specifically in the Tuesday Market area near the Pomegranate Gate and southeast of the Monastery of the Virgins viewpoint. To reach it, players need to climb up the red awnings on the southern side of the market’s main building to access a balcony with an iron door. Inside, a guard is present, so stealth is required to assassinate him and collect the Lost Book. This book rewards a Skill Point and a Scholar Favor Token, making it a valuable collectible early in the game.

Location: Pomegranate Gate/Tuesday Market
Book Title: Suleiman Al-Tajir: Accounts of China and India
Exit via the Pomegranate Gate, which is in the southern part of Baghdad. To your left, you’ll spot the Tuesday Market, which has half a dozen guards.

You can take them out if you wish or go through the open window of the building above undetected to grab this book.
Round City Lost Book location
The Round City Lost Book in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is located inside the Palace of the Green Dome, situated in the Gardens district at the heart of the city. However, you cannot access this book until you have progressed to the mission “The Serpent’s Nest.” Once the mission is active, enter the palace through a secret entrance near Al-Jahiz’s House, then navigate past guards by climbing and using stealth tactics. The book can be found on the second floor, resting on a small table to the left of a bookshelf. Collecting this Lost Book rewards you with a Skill Point and a Scholar Favor Token, and it also counts towards your map completion and Explorer achievement.

Location: Palace of the Green Dome
Book Title: Al-Sikkit: Diwan Abu Nu’as
The Palace of the Green Dome is in the Round City, the very center of Baghdad. You’ll gain access to this area near the end of the game, during the “Serpent’s Nest” mission. While exploring the top floor, you’ll come across the grand library, which has a puzzle.

Instead of entering the library, make your way to the other end of the hallway. The door on the opposite end has a bedroom. You’ll see the Lost Book on a desk.
These are the Lost Books we’ve found throughout Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’s also worth mentioning that, as of this writing, the quest itself remained active after we handed over all the books. It’s unclear if this was the result of a bug; Assassin’s Creed Mirage received a day-one patch that may have addressed any quirks like this.
