Find the Desert Voe Armor Set in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Locations and Heat Resistance Tips

Guides

Hidden deep within the Gerudo Desert, the Desert Voe Armor set offers Link powerful heat resistance-perfect for surviving the scorching sands. Here’s where to find each piece and how to make the most of its unique protection.

Our Desert Voe Armor set guide will tell you where to find each piece of the Desert Voe Armor set in Tears of the Kingdom and how to upgrade the Desert Voe Headband, Desert Voe Spaulder, and Desert Voe Trousers.

Desert Voe Headband location

The Desert Voe Headband can be obtained from the Kara Kara Bazaar, located between Gerudo Town and the Gerudo Desert Gateway. Speak to Saula, the merchant who sells gear suited for the desert heat, and purchase the headband for 450 rupees. This piece grants one level of heat resistance, making it easier to explore the scorching sands before securing the rest of the armor set.

Once you depart the Gerudo Canyon Stable heading southwest, your first destination will be the Kara Kara Bazaar.

Speak with Saula at the armor shop (tent) there to buy the Desert Voe Headband for 450 rupees. This one piece of the armor set will get you enough heat resistance to get started, but for the full effect, you’ll have to go to Gerudo Town.

Desert Voe Spaulder and Trousers location

The Desert Voe Spaulder and Trousers can be found in Gerudo Town, hidden inside the armor shop that only allows women to enter. To access it, Link must disguise himself using the Gerudo outfit. The Spaulder is sold for a high price of rupees, but it provides strong heat resistance. The matching Trousers are available from the same shop, completing most of the set needed for safe travel through the scorching Gerudo Desert.

When you buy the Desert Voe Headband from Saula, she’ll tell you about the secret shop behind Fashion Passion in Gerudo Town – if that sounds familiar, there was a similar side quest in Breath of the Wild.

Make your way through the sand shroud some more until you arrive in Gerudo Town itself (and hit Soryotanog Shrine while you’re at it). Fashion Passion is to the left after you pass through the main gate, but on your first visit, the town is deserted (except for some Gibdo wandering around).

Along the northwest wall of Fashion Passion, there’s water falling from the roof down into a cave below the building. Drop down inside.

Not far in, there’s a breakable rock wall on your left. You’re going to be doing a lot of rock-smashing here, so equip your best mining tools. Smash through, and then keep breaking through rock walls until you hit a left turn. Climb the wall there, and keep smashing your way forward.

You’ll eventually come to a dead end with pillars along the wall. Use Ascend in the middle of that area and you’ll pop up inside Fashion Passion. There’s no secret password this time – Greta will sell to you just because you made it there.

The Desert Voe Spaulder costs 1,300 rupees and the Desert Voe Trousers will run you another 650 rupees.

Desert Voe Armor upgrade costs, effect, and set bonus

The Desert Voe Armor set can be upgraded up to four times at Great Fairy Fountains using materials like Molduga Guts, White Chuchu Jelly, and Lynel parts. Each upgrade raises the armor’s defense, with the full set reaching strong protection suitable for late-game combat. Wearing any piece grants Heat Resistance, helping Link survive the Gerudo Desert’s high temperatures. When all three pieces are upgraded twice or more and worn together, the set bonus grants Shock Resistance, reducing damage from electrical attacks.

Wearing any one piece of the Desert Voe set will get you the Heat Resistance effect – the same effect you’d get from a spicy meal or elixir. Wearing multiple pieces of the set will increase the effect’s potency. Once you enhance the entire set to level two and wear all three pieces, you’ll get an extra Shock Damage Resist set bonus on top of the Heat Resistance.

You’ll be able to upgrade the pieces of the Desert Voe Armor at a Great Fairy in exchange for the following:

  • 1-star (5 defense): 3 White Chuchu jellies, 10 rupees
  • 2-star (8 defense): 5 White Chuchu jellies, 3 cool safflinas, 50 rupees
  • 3-star (12 defense): 5 Ice Keese wings, 3 Ice-Breath Lizalfos tails, 5 chillshrooms, 200 rupees
  • 4-star (20 defense): 5 Ice-Breath Lizalfos horns, 10 Ice-Breath Lizalfos tails, 5 sapphires, 500 rupees

To fully upgrade each piece of Desert Voe armor, you’ll need 24 White Chuchu jellies, 9 cool safflinas, 15 chillshrooms, 15 Ice Keese wings, 15 Ice-Breath Lizalfos horns, 39 Ice-BReath Lizalfos tails, 15 sapphires, and 2,280 rupees.
