The Persuasion Device in Mewgenics isn’t just a quirky gadget-it’s a cunning tool that bends the will of other cats to your cause. Used wisely, it can turn bitter rivals into allies and shift the tide of even the strangest side quests in your favor.
How to complete the Persuasion Device side quest
To complete the Persuasion Device side quest, keep the device in your inventory for an entire run and defeat the final boss in the area specified by Dr. Beanies, such as the Caves or the Boneyard, depending on what your file rolls. After clearing that location’s last encounter, return home and speak with Dr. Beanies to turn in the objective, which permanently adds the Persuasion Device to your collection and grants a hefty coin payout, so long as the cat carrying it survives the run.
Completing the side quest simply involves beating the final boss in the area instructed to you by Dr. Beanies with the Persuasion Device in your inventory, then talking to the doc afterward. You do not need to use the item during the run, although we would recommend it because it’s an incredibly powerful tool, as Mewgenics can often be about strength in numbers.
This location is random in every playthrough though, so whereas for me and one of my colleagues at AELGAMES, we only had to take it to the end of the Caves (an easier task, since it’s one of the first areas you’ll unlock), another colleague was told to take it to the end of the Boneyard, which is a tougher area in the first act. You may be given one of the same areas, or you may need to take it somewhere different.

When complete, you’ll be given the item to keep permanently. or as long as you can hold onto it for anyway, as if the cat holding it dies, you’ll lose it again. (As of writing this, we’re not sure if you can get another one from Dr. Beanies or not, so only take it with you if you’re prepared to potentially lose it!) You’ll also receive 250 coins for your trouble.
How to complete Dr. Beanies Persuasion Device side quest
To finish Dr. Beanies’ Persuasion Device quest, you just need to carry it to the destination he names, beat that area’s final boss, then go home and talk to him.
Step-by-step walkthrough
-
Get the quest
-
Donate cats with mutations/defects/parasites to Dr. Beanies until he gives you the Persuasion Device and a quest that specifies a destination (for example, “reach the end of the Caves/Boneyard”).
-
Equip and start a run
-
Equip the Persuasion Device on one cat before you leave home so it is in your inventory for the whole run.
-
Remember it gives that cat -2 Speed, so put it on someone who can handle being slower.
-
Reach the required location
-
Follow the route that leads to the area Dr. Beanies mentioned (this is randomized per quest, so it might be Caves, Boneyard, or another early-act destination).
-
You do not need to activate the Persuasion Device at any point for the quest to count; just make sure the cat holding it stays alive.
-
Beat the final boss there
-
Clear the area’s final encounter/boss while the Persuasion Device is still in your party’s inventory.
-
Go back and talk to Dr. Beanies
-
After your run, return home and speak to Dr. Beanies; this is what actually turns the quest in.
-
If it worked, you’ll see the quest complete, get the Persuasion Device achievement, and receive coins (around 200-250 depending on source).
Important tips
-
If the cat carrying the Persuasion Device dies or you trash the item, the quest fails and you lose the device; you may need to donate more afflicted cats later to roll the quest again.
-
You can ignore the charm ability completely for quest credit and just treat it as a handicapping quest item you’re babysitting to the boss.
If you tell me which destination your quest text mentions and where your runs are failing, I can suggest a safe team setup and who should hold the device.
What does the Persuasion Device do in combat
In combat, the Persuasion Device lets one of your cats permanently Charm a non-boss enemy so it temporarily fights for your side.
Exact combat effect
-
It counts as a weapon: the cat holding it suffers a permanent -2 Speed while it is equipped.
-
In battle, you activate it as that cat’s action to target a non-boss enemy on an adjacent tile.
-
If it succeeds, that enemy is Charmed, joins your party immediately, and fights as an AI ally for the rest of the fight.
-
You can only use the Persuasion Device once per battle, so you get one permanent charm attempt each fight.
-
It cannot target or affect bosses at all, so you must pick regular or elite enemies.
Strategic use
-
Best targets are high-damage or high-HP elites whose abilities are scary when they’re enemies but amazing when they’re on your side.
-
The speed penalty means you usually want it on a tanky or support cat that doesn’t rely on going first.
-
Use it in tough waves where adding a strong extra body will swing the numbers in your favor more than reviving a fallen ally would.
