Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Koltin Locations and Tarrey Town Guide

Guides

Hidden among Hyrule’s rebuilding efforts lies Tarrey Town – a hub of trade and secrets – while Koltin roams the night with his otherworldly shop. Here’s how to track both down and make the most of their rare offerings in Tears of the Kingdom.

Where to find Tarrey Town in Tears of the Kingdom

Tarrey Town sits in the Akkala Highlands region of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, on a peninsula jutting into Lake Akkala at coordinates approximately 3967, 1610, 0127. Activate the nearby Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower first, then launch from it and glide southeast toward the town atop its rocky pillar. Alternatively, ride an air tram from the Hudson Construction Site in Torin Wetland south of the tower for direct access. The settlement appears southwest of a spiral peninsula along the eastern coast once you spot Lake Akkala on the map.

Tarrey Town is in the Akkala Highlands region, accessible by air tram from the Hudson Construction site. Specifically, the tram is located at the coordinates of (3792, 1604, 0094). It’ll take you straight to Tarrey Town. Once you’re inside, you’ll want to seek out Kilton(3965, 1645, 0129), who sets you off on a search for his brother, Koltin.

Where find to Koltin’s shop location

Koltin’s shop appears in Tarrey Town after you complete the “Mattison’s Independence” side adventure and talk to him near the construction site. Tarrey Town sits at the northwest edge of the Akkala Highlands, coordinates (4448, 3226, 0075), reachable by heading north from Thyphlo Ruins or gliding from Akkala Tower. Speak to Koltin there to access his inventory of Bubbul Gems and other items, which updates as you trade more Bubbulfrogs.

Kilton pointed out his brother’s shop is just over his left shoulder (if you’re facing him). The large tower with two spotlights is the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, and the smaller glowing orb is Koltin’s shop. To find Koltin, you’ll want to make your way over there. You can make your way down by paraglider, heading toward the direction Kiltin pointed you.

It’s a fairly simple trek, but you’ll still want to watch out for enemies.

On your way there, you may as well stop at the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, too – the coordinates are (3518, 2031, 0182). It’s a good place to take a rest by a fire if it’s currently daytime – you can only find Koltin’s shop at night. Don’t know how to make a fire? Our guide for making a campfire can help.

You should be able to see Koltin’s shop from where you are, but if you’re having trouble, seek out the coordinates of (3661, 2065, 0168).

‘The Search for Koltin’ quest reward

Completing The Search for Koltin yields Bubbul Gems as the main reward, plus access to Koltin’s roaming shop stocked with unique items like the Mystic Robe, Miner’s Armor, and rare ingredients such as Silent Princesses and Sundelions. Players exchange 12 Bubbul Gems for the full set of Koltin’s shop offerings, which rotate locations across Hyrule after the quest. This wraps up the Bubbul Frog collection side story and provides armor sets boosting stealth or mining capabilities.

Once you reach Koltin, you can trade him Bubbul gems in exchange for items. He’ll offer you a Moblin Mask for two Bubbulgems, three Hinox toenails for two Bubbul gems, the Mystic Robe for three Bubbul gems, and eight Fire Keese eyes for three Bubbulgems.

How to complete The Search for Koltin quest

Here’s a concise walkthrough for completing “The Search for Koltin” in Tears of the Kingdom.

Quest prerequisites

  • First finish the side adventure “The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!” by meeting Koltin at Pico Pond (near Woodland Stable), getting a Bubbul Gem from a nearby cave, and giving it to him. This ends that quest and begins the Koltin quest line.

How to start “The Search for Koltin”

  1. After “The Hunt for Bubbul Gems!” is done, go to Tarrey Town in Akkala.โ€‹

  2. In Tarrey Town, talk to Kilton at his monster-themed stall; he tells you Koltin is traveling Hyrule looking for Bubbul Gems and gives you a lead on his new location.

Finding Koltin to complete the quest

  1. Use Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower in Akkala, then glide or travel northwest toward Koltin’s hill location near Tarrey Town (around 3654, 2064, 0168).

  2. Make it night (sit at a fire or inn until night), then look for Koltin’s glowing balloon-wagon on the hill; he only appears at night.โ€‹

  3. Talk to Koltin at his caravan; this conversation completes “The Search for Koltin” and fully unlocks his Bubbul Gem shop.

What you unlock and what to do next

  • After the quest, you can trade Bubbul Gems to Koltin for monster masks, rare monster parts, and eventually the full Mystic armor set.

  • You need 45 Bubbul Gems to obtain the entire Mystic Set through his trades, and he will keep appearing at various night-time locations around Hyrule near towers once the quest is done.

All possible Koltin locations after quest completion

Koltin can rotate between several fixed night-time spots around Hyrule once his quest line is active and “The Search for Koltin” is complete. He always appears after 9 PM and vanishes by morning.

General rules

  • Time: Only from about 9 PM to early morning; rest at a fire or inn until night if he is missing.

  • How to track him: Talking to Kilton in Tarrey Town will tell you where Koltin is currently camped.
